Chapter 23 Soldier's Duty is Obey Orders
At six in the morning, the sharp whistle sounded, followed by the shouts of the David brothers, and then...
"Left-right-left, Left-right-left, One-two-three-four!"
"One-two-three-four!"
The people of Eldoria saw the chaotic sound of footsteps, accompanied by loud shouts, early in the morning.
They stood bewildered on the sides of the street, watching as the troops carried sandbags on their backs, running and chanting rhythmic numbers.
"What are these people doing so early? Aren't they going to join the army?"
"They must be training just in a strange way, coming out for a run so early."
"I heard that the knights train by practicing charges, sparring, and jousting..."
"But they are well-dressed, all wearing new clothes, and I heard they have big pieces of meat to eat in the barracks. Not sure if it's true or not."
"I wonder when the next conscription will be, and I also want to join the army."
The morning run of the army, the people of Eldoria really saw it for the first time.
The David brothers ran to the side, each holding a stick, and anyone who was a little slow would be severely beaten.
"Run faster, or I'll beat you to death." David roared.
More than a hundred people quickly ran out of Eldoria and started running around Eldoria in the morning sunlight.
Leo was a skilled hunter, and at first, he didn't understand the meaning of running, but when he saw the David brothers breathing steadily, he understood that running was training their endurance.
When the team returned to Eldoria, before they even entered the barracks, they saw Henry yawning outside the camp.
"Good morning, Lord Henry." The David brothers shouted, and the others immediately followed suit.
Henry looked at the spirited appearance of more than a hundred people, all completely different from yesterday.
"You guys start today's training. Don't mind me." Henry waved his hand.
"Yes, my Lord."
David led the team into the barracks and immediately had someone arrange the internal affairs, and they would have breakfast in half an hour.
"Henry, these people have been training for ten days or half a month, and with a long spear, they still have some combat power, enough to stop the ordinary bandit."
Wyatt said behind Henry, and he came to the barracks with Henry this morning.
"Still too weak, several of them fainted just from running a few steps; their physical condition is too poor." Henry shook his head, and he had just seen several people being carried back.
"Their foundation was too weak before. It's still acceptable now." Wyatt hesitated.
"That is fine. Let's go see how they're doing with their internal affairs."
Henry stopped this topic. What he wanted was a strong soldier who could be pitted one against ten. He had put so much effort into the barracks that if he could only deal with ordinary bandits, he would immediately withdraw most of his investment. It would be better to invite knights to join.
A few of them took a tour around, and the internal affairs of the new recruits were very satisfactory. Henry didn't ask for too much at first.
After all, like folding blankets, placing shoes, and everything else, it is all to train people's discipline, only by starting with the details of life, can people develop a habit more quickly.
Soldiers obey orders as their duty; what Henry wants is a disciplined, quality army that listens to his orders.
They are not the kind of miscellaneous soldiers who shout and charge at the enemy. They can fight in a headwind, but they will be immediately dispersed when they meet a strong enemy.
After looking at a few dormitories, it was already past seven in the morning, and the group of people went to the cafeteria to have breakfast.
Henry also went to the cafeteria with Mila and Wyatt, and as soon as they entered, they heard David's reprimand.
"Get in line, who dares to cut in line, not allow to eat breakfast today."
The noisy line immediately quieted down, and everyone lined up honestly, some of them only ate one meal a day, and they actually had breakfast in the barracks, who would dare to make troubles?
The camp ate bread today, two big breads, each one twice the size of a fist, accompanied by a bowl of beef soup.
These starving soldiers' eyes lit up as they gnawed on the soft bread, which was hundreds of times better than the wheat bread they had eaten, and the beef soup was so good that they almost shed tears.
Henry finished a loaf of bread and a bowl of soup, and he looked around at the performance of the people, nodding in satisfaction.
The life of the army was good. Who wouldn't fight for him? The soft bread here was delicious; let them go and eat the wheat bread hard as wood every day; they were probably the first ones who are not willing.
"This meat soup is delicious." Mila drank the soup at once and exclaimed how refreshing it was.
"Let's go, leave it to David and the others, now we go and see something else." Henry got up and stuffed the remaining loaf of bread into Mila's hand.
Mila's eyes smiled like a crescent moon, she took the bread and ate it in small bites, just eat two loaves of bread, only to be seventy percent full for her.
Wyatt quickly followed behind, his current appearance, you can't tell that he is a disabled, walking more powerful than an ordinary person.
"Uncle Wyatt, the war horses have been purchased; there will be no problem. Now we go and see the weapons." Henry led them to the logistics warehouse.
Things inside were what he had brought from Earth over the past few days, and today, it was time for people to see.
