Chapter 153 Return to Eldoria
"Take safety measures. I don't want to see any accidents or anyone falling into the river," Henry cautioned.
"Got it!"
David hurried off, with many tasks awaiting his attention. He was essentially Henry's right-hand man, handling things outside. At the break of dawn, he set about arranging for the purchase of wheat and the rental of sailboats.
"Henry, what should we do with these fish?" Tess called out, rubbing her belly. She hadn't eaten the breakfast porridge she had prepared, saving her appetite for Henry's cooking.
"Coming!"
Henry stepped over to the barrel. In just a short while, Mila had already caught three or four fish. Glancing at Tess and Mila, he realized that this bit of fish would only be enough to half-satisfy them.
"Tess, go to the galley. There are a few iron plates and a stove. Bring them out," Henry rolled up his sleeves. The castle's kitchen staff wouldn't know how to prepare fish, so they had to rely on themselves.
"Alright!" Tess went to fetch the items.
Tess had also seen what happened last night. Now, she was starting to believe that she had encountered a good nobleman. As long as he treated her well, he was a good nobleman.
"Mila, what kind of fish do you want?" Henry asked as he prepared the fish. "Or, what kind of fish do you imagine?"
"I want it to be delicious, so I can keep eating," Mila replied instinctively.
"Then it's a snack!" Henry immediately thought of that.
"A snack? What's that?" Mila asked, holding up a fish. "Is it also fish?"
"You'll find out once it's ready," Henry said with a mysterious smile, focusing on preparing the fish.
Mila rested her chin on her delicate arm, watching Henry work with a serious expression. She felt that he was the most handsome man in the world.
"Henry, is this enough?" Tess asked, placing a large pile of things in front of Henry.
Henry was speechless and felt his gums twitch. Did she empty the entire kitchen with this pile of things?
"Is anything missing?" Tess stood up, ready to go back to the kitchen.
"That's enough, it's all here," Henry immediately stopped her, pointing at a few items. "Clean these."
"Got it!" Tess quickly got to work.
Soon, the fire was lit, and the iron plates were placed on it. Some beef tallow was added, followed by a mix of scallions, ginger, and garlic to infuse the oil with flavor. Then, the fish was placed on the hot plate. This was iron plate fish.
On another stove, a large iron pot was placed. It was filled with oil, and then onions, ginger, garlic, and other special spices were added. Finally, small pieces of fish, cut into bite-sized chunks, were deep-fried.
The rich aroma filled the air, causing a certain girl hiding on a nearby ship to swallow her saliva. Her green eyes flickered, but she managed to suppress her craving.
Elisa decided to leave Hyratos on this batch of ships, using it as a cover to confuse her pursuers. The bounty hunters from last night had made her more cautious. She had to be careful of bounty hunters with special abilities.
The reason she decided to go to Eldoria was because of the performance of those orcs last night. Elisa wanted to find out if the nobles were just putting on a show or if they genuinely treated the orcs well. There might also be other elves in Eldoria.
Elisa took out a hard piece of wheat bread and ate it slowly, trying to ignore aroma in the air.
After about half an hour...
"Raise the anchor!"
"Raise the anchor!"
A series of shouts rang out as the fleet began its journey back to Eldoria, with Henry's four medium-sized sailboats leading the way.
Behind them were twelve other sailboats, carrying both wheat and the commoners from Hyratos to Eldoria.
This fleet was considered quite large compared to the nearby cities.
The ships moved forward at a steady pace. Henry didn't have high hopes for the speed of the ships in this era.
"Can we eat now, Henry?" Tess and Mila eagerly looked at the fish on the deck.
"Almost!" Henry was busy frying a large pot of fish slices, each about the size of two fingers. This was his special fish snack.
Henry poured the fish slices into a clean bamboo basket, sprinkling some spices. It became a delicious snack after draining the oil.
"Let's eat!" After Henry took the first bite, others started to grab the food, even using their hands directly in the end.
"Hey, Mila, that's too much! It's fine if you hold one in each hand while having some in your mouth, but you're even using your tail to protect another portion," Tess said, sounding exasperated.
"You're doing the same thing," Mila mumbled with a mouthful of fish, her words barely intelligible.
"I'll bite!" Tess opened her mouth and lunged at the piece of fish in Mila's hand.
"Isn't there more over there?" Mila swallowed the fish and dodged Tess's attack, pouting at the deck. "Why are you trying to take mine?"
"Yours looks more delicious," Tess said with a playful smile.
Henry smiled as he watched the familiar scene. Were all beastwomen like this? It seemed that the most delicious food was always the one everyone fought over.
He picked up a piece of fish, slowly put it in his mouth, and looked at the desolate land on both sides. The pleasant bickering in his ears reminded him of outings of the nobility in the past were also so enjoyable.
Well, except without beast-eared girls, Henry held a glass of cola, suddenly feeling like singing a song.
After Henry crooning a few lyrics, he saw someone on the other boat were about to fall into the river.
"It's just extemporize!" Henry awkwardly explained as he drank up his cola, then he began to eat the fish meat.
"Henry, are you okay?" Mila asked with concern.
"Yeah, couldn't be better!" Henry replied as he nodded.
