Chapter 22 Mila's Intentions of Killing

On the beam, Mila took out two military knives. As she listened to the grain merchants discussing Henry, she considered going down to kill them. If it hadn't been for the critical moment and she hadn't gotten the information they needed, those merchants would have been dead.
"Don't forget, we're working for Baron Omar. The new lord wouldn't dare to offend Baron Omar and the other nobles. Otherwise, Baron Omar and a few other nobles could easily kill the new lord," the fat grain merchant boasted.
"Hahaha. Should we let it out that we're loyal to Baron Omar?" another merchant laughed arrogantly.
"Sure, and then in a few days, we'll raise the price of coarse wheat to six copper coins per pound before the autumn harvest," the fat merchant sneered.
"Hahaha. Alright, we'll do as you say."
Mila stopped listening at this point. She took out a notebook from her pocket and wrote down what she had heard.
She needed to get the message back quickly. These merchants were just here to make money. Previously, coarse wheat was only two copper coins per pound, and even polished wheat was only four copper coins.
Now, the price of coarse wheat had reached that of polished wheat. This would be a disaster for many people because of the high price of wheat.
Mila silently descended from the beam and, under the cover of shadows, effortlessly left the house, taking a piece of pork with her.
On the way, Mila spat out the meat. "This meat is really bad."
She had seen those people enjoying it, thinking it was delicious, but when she tasted it, she found it salty and fishy, just like the taste in her memory.
Soon, Mila returned to the castle and made her way to the study.
As soon as she entered, Mila smelled a familiar scent and heard a voice that warmed her heart. Henry chuckled, "Welcome back. I've made porridge for you. Come and eat."
"Mmm!" Mila nodded obediently, her cat ears twitching. She placed the notebook in front of Henry and sat on the desk.
"Mew! It's delicious." Mila ate the porridge heartily, shaking her head from time to time.
Henry looked at the message in the notebook and occasionally asked for clarification, as Catgirl's handwriting was as messy as a cat's scratch.
"The situation is just like expected, but there was one unexpected thing. I didn't expect that the nobles from the other cities had already reached out for so long."
Henry closed the notebook and began to ponder. Today's events served as a wake-up call for him.
"Henry, should I go and kill them all?" Mila, with an air of killing intent, put down the third empty bowl.
"We can't kill them for now."
Henry shook his head. His soldiers had just been recruited and had no power. Once these grain merchants were killed, those nobles would find an excuse to invade Eldoria.
What he needed now was time. Give him twenty days, and he wouldn't fear the knights of those nobles.
"What about the price of grain?" Mila asked, feeling distressed.
"Don't worry. They want to raise the price, and I estimate they will do so in three days. I will let them see what it's like when no one buys wheat." A cold flashed in Henry's eyes.
Mila blinked her blue eyes and tilted her head in thought but couldn't think of a way to prevent people from buying wheat in three days.
"Alright, if you're full, go wash up and get some rest. It's been a tiring day for both of us." Henry reached out and squeezed Mila's constantly swaying tail.
"Mew." Mila's cheeks instantly turned red, her blue eyes misty, and she hurriedly retracted her tail, a bit flustered as she ran out of the study.
"Hmm..."
Henry's hand stiffened there. He scratched the back of his head, puzzled, "What's wrong with Mila? Why did she suddenly become shy?"
"Oh, I just squeezed her tail." He cleared his throat.
Henry thought of an article he had read on Earth, which mentioned that if humans had retained their tails during evolution, the tail would be one of the most sensitive parts of the human body.
"It seems like I was teasing Mila!" Henry forced a bitter smile.
He took out a roll of parchment from the drawer and carefully examined it. It was a map of Eldoria and the surrounding terrain, which he had asked Vincent to obtain.
To the west was the Azure Peak Range. Henry had heard from Willow that if it weren't for the Azure Peak Range blocking the frigid storms, this area would also be a world of ice and snow.
The Azure Peak Range spanned several kingdoms and was a massive mountain range, now serving as a barrier against the "wrath of the Snow Goddess."
Of course, this was not Henry's concern at the moment. What he wanted was to make some changes to Eldoria. He looked at the crooked streets on the map and almost couldn't resist using a pen to straighten them out.
"There are still about twenty days until the autumn harvest. Time should be enough. I just don't know if it will be successfully fired," Henry muttered.
"Alright, I'll go to have a look tomorrow. If it's fired, we will have the foundation we need."
"And the grain, I don't know if it can be brought back in four days. That is crucial to my next plan."
Henry felt that he needed to find someone who understood internal affairs to help him. Otherwise, he was afraid that he would start losing his hair if things continued like this.
