Chapter 82 The Last Sanctuary of the Orcs
It was still early in the morning when the distant shouts of soldiers starting their morning drills could be heard.
"Get ready, turn left, and jog lightly."
The sound of synchronized footsteps, accompanied by shouts, made the heartbeats of those listening synchronize, creating an inexplicable sense of oppression.
It also woke up the sleeping Bunny Girl.
Emily lazily stretched, rubbed her eyes, and then froze in place the next moment, her light red eyes scanning the room, finding no one, before finally relaxing.
"I was too careless to fall asleep like that. How could you let your guard down, Emily?" She muttered to herself.
She only made those movements in the tribe's house, but the warmth of the bed and soft blanket had somehow diminished her vigilance by half.
Emily's long ears perked up, occasionally twitching, as distant voices caught her curiosity, making her wonder who was shouting so early in the morning.
Sitting up, Emily realized that movements she had found difficult the previous night were now effortless, with only slight dizziness remaining, as if all her strength had returned.
She turned her head to the door, cautiously getting out of bed, only then noticing she was wearing a beautiful white garment, or rather, a white short-sleeved T-shirt—Henry's clothing.
At a height of 5.91 feet, Mila, Ellie, and Willow's clothes wouldn't fit her. After helping her bathe, Willow gave her one of Henry's shirts to wear.
A thigh-length skirt described Emily's current attire, showcasing her long, slender, fair legs, fully exposed, with the short-sleeved shirt just covering her perky behind.
Unfortunately, no one could appreciate this allure. Emily touched the clothing on her body, detecting a pleasant fragrance she liked.
Emily approached the window, looking outside to see the morning sun rising from the horizon. It was the most beautiful time of day, one of her favorite mornings.
At that moment, she realized she had been a bit naive the night before. Her room was about 23 to 26 feet high, and jumping from there would likely result in her legs folding underneath her.
The rhythmic shouts drew Emily's attention to a group of about a hundred people jogging.
"What are these humans doing? Don't they have anything better to do?" Emily was puzzled, knowing that when the orc was full, they avoided moving as much as possible, making a single meal last for days.
"What am I doing? I must leave this place immediately."
Emily tugged at her drooping rabbit ears, annoyed with herself, and scratched her pink hair.
She reached the bed, pulling the blanket around herself—she couldn't go out so exposed, and if she could take the blanket back to the tribe, even better.
Emily cautiously pushed open the door, her eyes alertly scanning left and right. Emily thought, 'Good, there is no one here.'
"Hey! Where do you think you're going?"
Suddenly, a crisp voice rang out, startling Emily. Her rabbit ears flattened, and her legs sprung into action.
Tragedy struck as the Bunny Girl collided with the door frame. Fortunately, she was close to the frame, so the impact was less severe.
Emily rubbed her forehead vigorously, feeling a bump forming. She had only herself to blame.
"So absent-minded, being tall doesn't mean everything. Of course, I'm not jealous of your height."
Apart from the somewhat arrogant Ellie, no one else would have said that.
"Who? Come out." Annoyed, Emily shouted, not even bothering to hold onto the fallen blanket, glaring around.
"I'm down here!"
Ellie's exasperated voice sounded. Ellie thought, 'What is this Bunny Girl thinking? Does she have tunnel vision? Only looking straight ahead from a height?'
"Down there?"
Emily glanced downward and then recoiled in surprise. "How do you suddenly appear?"
Ellie's mouth twitched. Ellie thought, 'How do I suddenly appear? I have been standing at the door since it opened, and Emily only noticed me now. Is being tall that impressive? Wait until I grow taller.'
Emily breathed a sigh of relief, seeing Ellie's fox ears and tail. She was just a tiny orc, probably twelve or thirteen years old!
"Are you thinking of something bad?" Ellie squinted, flicking her fox tail.
"No, absolutely not thinking about how short you are." Emily quickly waved her hands and then covered her mouth, looking sheepishly at Ellie, who was nervously fidgeting with her fingers.
Ellie said irritably, "Let's go; I'll take you to change clothes, and then we'll have breakfast."
"Change clothes? Breakfast?" Emily blinked, quickly grabbing the fallen blanket and following Ellie.
"I'm Ellie, what's your name?"
"I'm Emily!" Emily scanned the surroundings but didn't see any humans, curiously asking, "Where's that cat orc from yesterday?"
Ellie looked up at Emily strangely and said calmly, "You mean Mila? She's with Henry now!"
"With Henry? A human noble?"
Emily's eyes filled with disgust. She immediately thought the worst.
She thought, 'A beautiful orc like her. How could a noble let her go?'
'And this pretty little fox girl in front of her, in a few years, wouldn't the nobles come for her too?'
'Should I take her and run away together? She would probably agree. After all, orcs all despised humans.'
"Have you ever thought about leaving this place?" Emily tentatively asked, "If we can, let's escape together to a place without humans."
Ellie froze for a moment, then relaxed, her voice light and slightly pleased, "No, such a place doesn't exist, and... This is already the last sanctuary for orcs!"
