Chapter 64 A Father and Son Wanted to Buy Back Their Land

Carter and Nathan remained just as bewildered as before. They stood amidst the lively market with crowds of people around them, each displaying a blend of excitement and apprehension. Some individuals were seated on benches, leisurely enjoying snacks.
Carter's face contorted, his mind racing with the potential profits this market held, a place where anyone with a bit of business sense could see vast opportunities.
And all of this was once Carter's to claim what he had forsaken. The bustling marketplace, with all its potential and prospects, was entirely within his grasp.

He aimed to reclaim it all without dwelling on how this bustling market came to be or why, despite his years of aristocratic presence, he had yet to establish such a grand marketplace himself.
Carter simply desired the outcome and had no interest in pondering such matters. Reclaiming his territory was paramount; he was absolutely determined to retrieve it.
"It's all mine, all of it." Carter's face twisted, his hand reaching out as if to grasp the entire market.
With possession of the grand marketplace, he could thrive without venturing inland. The sustenance it provided would afford him a lifestyle even grander than that of a count. Once he reclaimed his territory, he planned to move into the marketplace, overseeing the influx of wealth each day.
Anything he desired, he could find in this market. He wouldn't exchange this market even if someone give him an earl title.
Nathan, looking at Carter with concern, asked, "Are you alright?"
Carter took a deep breath, calming himself, "Prepare yourself; we're going to visit Lord Henry."
Nathan was taken aback, "Why do you want to visit him?"
"You fool!" Carter's hand struck Nathan's face, "Can't you see the situation? We must reclaim this territory by any means necessary."
Nathan, holding his face, was about to say something when he noticed Henry and his group not far away.
"Look, Henry is over there," Nathan tugged at Carter's clothes, pointing in their direction.
"Don't expose yourself; now is not the time to meet him," Carter said, covering Nathan's face.
The two suddenly turned their heads, pretending to be interested in something else.
"Is it my imagination?" Mila whispered to herself, turning her head to see only shadows. She had felt someone was spying on her.
Ellie, noticing Mila's unease, asked, "What's wrong?"
Mila shook her head, her eyes sharp, scanning the surroundings, making many people avoid her gaze.
Henry said, "Alright, if you keep looking like that, your eyes will get sore."
Henry reached out and patted the catgirl's head, laughing softly, "It's alright; the War Wolf Battle Squad is in the crowd."
Beside him, Brandon blinked. He thought, 'What is the War Wolf Battle Squad? Is there a wolf in the crowd? Or is it a wolf tribe?'
Mila blushed, her slender fingers swiftly hiding the dagger.
Henry comforted Mila and turned to Brandon, "Mr. Brandon, how do you feel today?"
Brandon said, "Great, really great; I've never felt so happy in my life."
Brandon exclaimed, "This market is the best place I've ever seen. It's a pity Hyratos doesn't have such a place."
Willow, who was behind him, sneered, not to mention Hyratos; even in Scarlett's 'Noble Girl's Love Notes,' there was no mention of a grand market.
"You can come here often, or you can open a shop here." Henry smiled. Some things in the market can be replicated, but it's hard to coordinate the core aspects; otherwise, it will only lose money.
A large amount of money has to be invested in a single building, but Henry has cement, people, and courage, so the cost is not high.
"Can I really open a shop here?" Brandon couldn't believe it, "Lord Henry, are you joking?"
Henry shook his head. "No, I'm serious. As you can see, there are many shops that are closed. Those can be rented out; just remember to pay the rent and taxes every year."
His ultimate goal was taxes; only this was the foundation. Anyone who did business had to pay him taxes, whether they were nobles or not.
"Taxes? Do nobles have to pay, too?" Brandon frowned. Nobles pay taxes to another nobles, but at the same level, taxes are rarely mentioned.
"Of course, in my territory, anyone who does business has to pay taxes," Henry said seriously.
"I understand; I will go back and discuss it with my father." Brandon also said seriously.
He dared not easily agree; this was a matter of the face of the nobility, not something he could easily agree to.
"Let's go. It's been a long day. It's time to go back and rest." Henry stretched and led the way out.
Outside the market, Brandon was in trouble; he bought too many things and didn't bring a carriage.
"The carriage over there, here, here!" Suddenly, someone shouted, pointing to a row of carriages not far away.
The coachman quickly drove over the first carriage in the row, and he said to the person, "Sir, where are you going?"
A flatbed carriage with a vertical board at the back that reads 'Limited to Four Persons.'
"To the north of the city..." the person said a place name, climbed onto the carriage, and handed over two steel coins.
The carriage soon left, leaving Brandon confused, especially the word 'Sir'; he turned his head to look at Henry, "Lord Henry, wasn't that person's carriage just now?"
"Of course not. That row of carriages, including the one just now, all belong to the Lord's Manor." Henry looked at the departing carriage and laughed softly. "That is for better travel. The Lord's Manor lends out some idle carriages, making it easier for the common people to move around. As long as it is within Eldoria, it costs two steel coins to get on."
"This... this is too incredible; why has no one thought of it for so many years?" Brandon was a little at a loss with his mouth open.
Henry smiled slightly; it's not that no one thought of it; it's that no one was willing to do it; those big nobles with horses, they disdain this small money.
And there was no smaller currency. In the same city, take a ride would cost a copper coin; the common people do not want to sit.
"Lord Henry, you are a genius; you should go to the capital; the position of the minister should be yours." Brandon exaggerated.
To such praise, Henry just smiled slightly.
Eldora is not worse than other places now; he believes that soon, it will be the envy of the world.
