Chapter 155 The Rental House in the Parallel World

The sound of parting water waves was heard as the fleet finally arrived within the territory of Eldoria, at the docks of Eldoria.

Henry, standing at the bow, looked at the partially constructed dock and chuckled, "Quite fast."

If completed, it would be a T-shaped dock capable of accommodating thousands of large ships.

Of course, Henry didn't intend to finish it all at once; it was sufficient for now, with further construction and warehouses to be added in stages.

"What's that? Giant stones polished flat?" Tess exclaimed, pointing at the cement ground.

To the uninitiated, solidified cement could easily be mistaken for stone. Many newcomers to Eldoria believed that the houses were crafted from stone.

However, no one bothered to explain; cement was a top-secret in Eldoria, and its source remained unknown once it left the workshop.

"No!" Mila rolled her eyes, not bothering to explain further, as Tess wouldn't understand, and she herself wasn't entirely clear.

"Fine!" Tess was only interested in the outcome, not the process. She was full of excitement and curiosity.

"Henry, do orcs really live with humans in Eldoria?" Tess's most pressing question was this one.

"Of course, just look at Mila," Henry casually replied, his eyes on the dock where Wyatt awaited him.

"Alright, just follow me," Mila said, tugging at Tess's sleeve. "Didn't I tell you? There's Ellie with fox ears, and Sullivan selling lollipops..."

"Great! I want to play with them. Will Sullivan treat me to a lollipop?" Tess licked her lips, always eager to befriend someone with food.

"Maybe!" Mila's mouth twitched. Sullivan would surely welcome Tess's lollipop purchase. After all, Sullivan earned a commission based on sales, so the more she sold, the more she earned.

As for treating her to lollipops, that was out of the question. After all, now when Ellie went to buy lollipops, Sullivan didn't treat her to any.

Sullivan had been frugal, saving up to buy her own house. It was impossible to get her to treat you!

"Lower the sails, lower the sails!!!" David's voice boomed.

"Lower the sails! Lower the sails!!"

The ships' sails were lowered, and as they neared the dock, the ships coasted in, their momentum carrying them to the edge. Ropes were thrown down, and people on the dock immediately pulled the ships into position and secured them.

"Welcome back, Henry!"

Wyatt greeted as Henry disembarked. "You've worked hard!"

Henry laughed heartily. "Wyatt, is everything alright in Eldoria?"

"Nothing major, just some minor issues," Wyatt replied, glancing at David and Charles, relieved.

"That's good!" Henry nodded, knowing that Ellie could handle the minor issues.

Henry instructed, "Arrange the orcs and civilians who have arrived, solve their accommodation, and then let them choose their work."

"Yes!" Wyatt quickly responded, "You should rest at the castle first, we'll take care of this."

"Alright!" Henry immediately got on the carriage, with Mila and Tess following suit. Soon, the carriage departed, leaving the bewildered orcs and civilians behind.

The orcs and civilians stood still, awaiting a turning point in their fate.

"Follow me!" Wyatt called out to them, then instructed others, "Go find Vincent and have him arrange accommodation and meals for a thousand people."

"Yes!"

Wyatt mounted a horse and led the orcs and civilians toward Eldoria. As for arranging accommodations and meals, that's Vincent, the Scrivener official's responsibility. Professional matters should be left to the professionals.

The orcs obediently followed, while the commoners with their families hesitated for a moment, then hurriedly carried their luggage to catch up.

After a half-hour journey, the group of a thousand finally arrived at Eldoria. As they entered the city, they were amazed by the clean and tidy streets.

The sight of wheat drying on the main road left them in awe. Many couldn't help but swallow their saliva. For the orcs, these past few days had been like heaven; as long as they worked, they could eat wheat porridge until they were full.

"Anyone who needs to relieve themselves, go to the public restroom over there," Wyatt pointed the public restroom and declared, "Anyone caught defecating or urinating in the streets will be punished."

"Yes!" The crowd looked at the wide road, realizing that one person can't finish sweeping from dawn till dusk by oneself.

"Now, let's start assigning living quarters," Wyatt announced, pointing to Vincent, "Follow him, and he will arrange a place for you to stay."

All eyes turned to Vincent.

"Follow me, everyone!" Vincent led the crowd toward the west of the city, where there were newly built rental houses.

Vincent praised it as a wise policy by Henry. For the commoner, the most important thing was food, clothing, and shelter. And rental housing was an excellent solution to the housing problem.

In the rental housing area, some people had already moved in. They were all from nearby villages. Now, with Eldoria's rapid development, the people from the villages had moved back to the city. They couldn't afford to buy a house so that only rented one for now.

"Do you see the houses behind?" Vincent pointed to the row of houses behind him and said loudly, "These are the rental houses."

"It means you can live here, but you have to pay a monthly fee, which is the rent."

"The rent is based on the size of the room. For example, a room that is only enough for one person to live in, you only need to pay ten copper coins per month."

"A two-person rental room requires thirteen copper coins, three people... four people..."

Vincent went on to explain, "You can also share a room with several people, and the rent can be shared, which is the most cost-effective."

"As for those without copper coins, you can temporarily owe them, and once you start working, the amount can be deducted from your wages."
