Chapter 97 In Charge of Henry's Safety

Mila and Willow sneaked into the study, lit a candle, exchanged a guilty look, and then turned their attention to the room.
"The script should be on the desk," Willow whispered.
"Let's go!" Mila moved silently.
Approaching the desk, they found a thick notebook, as thick as three fingers. Willow knew that even the private warehouse had only a few such notebooks, and she had one herself.
"This should be it. I saw Henry writing in it until midnight a couple of days ago." Mila said, sighing.
"Henry was happy!" Willow smiled gently, her gray eyes full of tenderness. "I can tell that he was smiling as he wrote."
Mila was momentarily stunned, thinking of his gentle smile. Her blue eyes seemed a bit lost, but she quickly regained her composure.
"Gotcha!"
A crisp voice suddenly came from the door. The two looked up and saw Ellie, a girl who was 4.92 feet tall, pointing at them.
"What are you two doing in Henry's study in the middle of the night? Spill it! What mischief were you planning?"
Ellie pointed at Mila and Willow, her brown eyes filled with amusement.
Emily, standing off to the side, seemed a bit lost. She was fiddling with her bunny ears, her long legs restlessly twisting and turning.
"Cut it out!" Mila saw through Emily and couldn't help but roll her eyes. "Ellie, don't pretend. Emily must have told you about The Lord of the Rings, and you wanted to know what happens next, so you convinced Emily to come, right?"
Ellie put down her slender arm, admitting that Mila was right. She wanted to know what would happen next and persuaded Emily to come along.
"We haven't started yet. Come and join us!" Willow waved.
"Okay!" Ellie tightened her backpack, which contained her favorite lollipops.
The four girls gathered around the thick notebook. Willow turned the first page, revealing a note.
The four of them were a bit dizzy. The note read: [I know you wouldn't be able to resist but don't stay up too late! 😊]
Surprisingly, there was even a smiley face drawn after the sentence, making the four of them smile.
"Wow! That was amazing! The Lord of the Rings is so exciting!" Ellie exclaimed.
Mila, Willow, and Emily were also drawn into the story, occasionally gasping in surprise.
And when things got tense, Mila even took out a dagger and gestured with it.
So, the four girls were captivated by The Lord of the Rings and became members of the late-night reading club.
The next morning, Henry witnessed a scene: the four girls, with dark circles under their eyes, greeted him wearily.
"Good morning, Henry!" Mila, Willow, and Ellie greeted him.
"Good morning, Henry," Emily said, blushing, unable to meet his gaze.
Henry could easily tell what had happened. It was no different from when he stayed up reading on Earth.
"You guys... just as I expected!" Henry shook his head with a wry smile.
The Lord of the Rings, modified by him, was incredibly captivating, especially in a world starved of entertainment. The four individuals before him, Mila and her friends, were the best testament to this.
"Finish your breakfast, and then go rest," Henry said.
"Okay!" Ellie rubbed her slightly swollen eyes and lazily said, "I'm going to sleep until the afternoon today."
"Yes!" Emily nodded. She also wanted to rest well and review her lessons for tomorrow's classes.
Willow yawned and said with some concern, "I'll go prepare Henry's lunch now."
"No need; I've asked others to prepare a bento for me. I won't be back for lunch." Henry said with a light laugh.
He was going to inspect the territory later, make some decisions. He needed to personally visit some places.
"I'll go with Henry," Mila said softly.
Henry looked at Mila's tired face and said gently, "No need. You go and rest. I'll be fine with the War Wolf Battle Squad."
"And those soldiers are going on a training exercise. With so many people around, no one can hurt me."
Mila's blue eyes stubbornly looked at Henry's. Her expression clearly stating, "No, I must go."
"Alright, you can come." Henry relented. Mila was even planning to prepare the carriage herself, and he couldn't refuse.
It was Mila's concern for his safety, and Henry was moved.
"Mila, I'm counting on you for Henry's safety," Willow said softly.
She was just an ordinary girl, and staying up all night had left her a little dizzy and unfocused.
"Take care!" Ellie waved lazily.
A military knife appeared in Mila's hand, and she said coldly, "Don't worry, I'm in charge of Henry's safety."
Henry left with Mila, leaving the three girls sitting at the table. Willow and Ellie exchanged a glance, feeling that something might happen with Mila and Henry alone in the carriage.
Henry's carriage was a four-wheeled luxury version, comparable to a Rolls-Royce on Earth.
The carriage was twice as long as a regular one, with two horses, using shock absorbers and bearings brought by Henry from Earth. The inside was lined with soft cushions, making it luxurious and comfortable.
In this era, most carriages were still two-wheeled, single-horse driven, and only nobles could afford to use multiple horses.
Mila was amazed by the decorations inside the carriage. It was like a mobile house, with soft cushions underneath, cabinets on both sides and many snacks and drinks in the fixed slots.
Henry always knew how to enjoy himself!
