Chapter 43 Completing the Mission at All Costs

"Lord Henry, how many cattle, sheep, and horses do you need?" Brandon asked eagerly. He was willing to fulfill any request, no matter how large.
"One hundred cattle, two hundred horses, and three hundred sheep," Henry calmly stated.
"That's too many cattle. We can only provide thirty at most," Brandon replied.
Brandon wiped the cold sweat from his forehead. Although cattle were raised for meat, the quality of their hide and fur was top-notch, and many wealthy nobles treasured them for this reason.
Brandon's father himself owned twenty cattle, and he would need to acquire the remaining ten from another city.
"Do you only have thirty cattle? Then make it three hundred horses and five hundred sheep," Henry said, a hint of a smile playing on his lips.
Brandon was taken aback. The numbers kept increasing, and the resources needed to be improved. He addressed Henry with urgency, "My Lord, we don't have that many horses. It would be a challenge even to gather half of that amount."
Henry's smile faded, and he calmly asked, "How many cattle, horses, and sheep can you provide?"
Brandon pondered for a moment and then replied, "Thirty cattle, one hundred and twenty horses, and three hundred sheep."
"Okay." Henry nodded.
Brandon was surprised. Henry had accepted the offer without much negotiation.
In fact, the quantity Brandon proposed exceeded Henry's expectations. Moreover, managing more livestock would be challenging.
Once they were fully grown, Henry wouldn't have to import beef from Earth anymore. He could rely on the cattle and sheep here.
Horses were considered one of the most valuable animals in this era. Acquiring one hundred and twenty, even if they were young, was beyond imagination.
"I will return to gather the cattle, horses, and sheep. Could you assist us in purchasing the leather and fur?" Brandon asked, eager to finalize the deal.
Hyratos was not just facing challenges; it was a matter of life and death. Brandon's father had learned that a group of powerful bandits had set their sights on Hyratos.
Hyratos urgently needed an army. Knights were out of the question, and it wasn't easy to gather them at the moment. They could only conscript civilians from the territory as guards.
The next step with guards was to ensure they were well-equipped. Full plate armor was out of the question, and even chainmail was expensive. Leather armor became the primary choice.
"Okay." Henry agreed to this simple request.
"Then, my Lord, I will immediately return to Hyratos," Brandon said, getting up.
Henry said, "Go ahead." Henry instructed his servants to pack the snacks on the table for Brandon to take away.
Brandon left in a hurry, boarding the ship without delay and leaving Eldoria behind.
Henry sat in his chair for a while before turning to Wyatt, who was standing nearby, and asked, "What do you think is happening in Hyratos?"
"Bandits!" Wyatt replied in a deep voice.
With just one word, Henry understood that the situation was serious. It seemed that the bandits had started to make their move.
"Let's go and see how they are doing. Tonight is their first mission," Henry said.
"Okay," Wyatt replied.
The two of them quickly arrived at the military camp. Apart from a few guards, only eight people were standing in the small square.
These eight individuals had completed the obstacle course, with Leo standing in the first position, having achieved the best results and becoming the captain. He stood tall, his hands tightly pressed against the sides of his thighs.
The other seven were in the same position. After a few days in the military camp, they learned severe discipline within the camp. Any slight mistake would result in punishment or even going without food.
Corporal punishment was one thing, but going without food was a different story. Leo had experienced it after making a mistake, and the most infuriating part was that Instructor David had eaten a bowl of steak in front of him.
Today, all eight of them knew that they had a mission. A mission meant merits, and merits meant better food. It also meant better chances of getting a good job in the future or even being appointed to the Lord's mansion.
Henry had established many reward and punishment systems in the military camp. As long as they performed well, he could provide them with houses and status.
The equipment of these eight individuals was also top-notch, considered the pinnacle equipment of this era. Wyatt had even said that the equipment of the King's knights could have been better.
These eight individuals were Henry's otherworldly version of the War Wolf Battle Squad, although they were all rookies for now.
Each had a military knife, which the research department designed according to the style of Mila's military knife. Of course, due to technological reasons, it was much inferior to Mila's military knife but still more advanced than the weapons of this era.
They were also equipped with small military crossbows, capable of instantly taking down enemies from a distance of seven to eight meters. There were also large military crossbows or recurve bows, depending on the preference of the eight individuals.
In close combat, they used broadswords, which Henry had brought from Earth, flying rope hammers, and claw hooks.
They were also wearing armor tailored by the research department according to Henry's requirements, protecting key parts of their bodies, such as chest plates.
The only requirement was for the armor to be lightweight. Heavy steel armor was not suitable for War Wolf Battle Squad's decapitation missions. If it weren't for the fact that they were in an era of cold weapons, Henry would have imagined the War Wolf Battle Squad undertaking missions in plain clothes in the future. After all, the War Wolf Battle Squad were not generals who charged into battlefields.
Henry stood in front of Leo, looking at the wolf badge on his chest. It was a roaring wolf, the totem of this otherworldly War Wolf Battle Squad team.
"You are the captain. I don't want to see any casualties tonight. Otherwise, you won't be worthy of this badge," Henry said, pointing at the Warwolf badge, his tone serious.
"Yes!" Leo straightened his body and roared, "We will complete the mission at all costs."
"We will complete the mission at all costs!" The other seven followed with a roar.
Henry said, "Very good!"
Henry nodded in satisfaction. He wanted to inspire their sense of honor and make them proud to be members of the War Wolf Battle Squad.
