Chapter 103

Chapter 103

“Levi, what are you doing there? Come, let’s join your brother and Amelia,” his mother’s voice came from behind.

“Yes, mom. I was just looking at the pillar of the house. It looks like there’s a crack on it,” he lied as he touched the line in the pillar. His heart was pounding so fast when he saw that Amelia and Logan were talking. He couldn’t explain but he felt strange with the kind of expression that he was seeing from their faces.

It was like that Logan knew something about Amelia that he didn’t know at all.

“Oh, son. Don’t think about it. It is nothing. This house has a good foundation. This had been carefully planned by the engineers that your dad had fired before. So, don’t worry, okay?” his mother said as she was patting his shoulder and then she led him to the living room where Logan and Amelia were talking.

Amelia was startled when she heard Mrs. Alvarez’s voice. She quickly looked at the entrance of the living room and from there, she saw Levi and his mother.

Earlier, Logan saw her sitting in the living room alone and the man approached her.

“Congratulations, finally, he officially introduced you to us,” Logan said with a happy face.

“Thank you,” she said, smiling at him. She could see the genuine happiness of the man for her and for Levi. She was thankful that the Alvarez family accepted her without any violent reaction. Now, there was only one thing that she needed to think of.

Logan was looking intently at her.

“Why are you looking like that to me?” Amelia said as her eyebrows were drawn together. “Just say what you want to say, okay? You are making me feel nervous,” she couldn’t help but say.

“You know what? Since I came back here, this is only the time that I have seen that kind of happiness in my brother’s face,” Logan continued. “I think that the session and your presence made everything possible. Even his doctors were surprised how quickly he recovered from the incident and I thank you for being there for my brother, Amelia.”

She just smiled while looking at Logan. Everyone was telling her the same thing including Logan, but she didn’t want to flatter herself so much. She knew that Levi also worked hard on his recovery so she couldn’t take all the credits.

“Yes, I can see that too. But it is also because of his determination to go back into swimming. I guessed that what really made him serious in every session that we had,” she answered. Then, she looked Logan directly in the eyes. “Though, I don’t know what I should be doing. I am thinking about Luke,” she said.

“So, when do you plan to tell him about Luke?”

Amelia was about to answer him when they heard voices talking from the entrance of the living room. Now, she couldn’t help but wonder if Levi heard their conversation. There were a lot of things that were running inside her mind. On top of her head was how she would tell Levi about Luke’s existence and about the DNA test of Leonard. There’s a great possibility that Leonard could be Luke’s twin brother. Her mind was in turmoil.

She was just quietly looking at the mother and son. She couldn’t help but imagine what could be their reaction once they learned about Luke’s existence? What would they say to her about hiding her son for a couple of years? Would she tell them the truth about what happened to her that time that she was pregnant? The reason why she didn’t tell Levi that she was carrying his child? Amelia didn’t know what she should be thinking. Things between her and Levi just happened so quickly and now she didn’t know how to bring up the truth in his attention. She didn’t want him to get hurt.

She took a deep breath and then she saw Logan stood up.

“Mom, I need to go now. I am going to meet someone. I will drop by later to pick up Harper and Leonard,” Logan said and then he looked at her. “Amelia, bro, once again, congratulations. I am so happy for the two of you.”

Levi smiled at his brother.

“Thank you,” Levi and Amelia almost at the same time.

Then Logan hugged both of them before he left.

Mrs. Alvarez was sitting beside her while Levi was on the single sofa where Logan was sitting earlier.

“My dear, so, how are your parents doing?” Mrs. Alvarez started to ask her as she broke the silence between the three of them.

Amelia was feeling a bit nervous but she just acted casually.

“Well, Mom is doing good, Auntie,” she simply replied.

“And how about your father, dear?” Mrs. Alvarez asked again while looking intently at her.

She looked at Levi. “He already died three years ago.”
“Oh, I am so sorry to hear that,” Levi’s mother said and then she looked at her son.

“It’s okay, Auntie,” she said, smiling at her. She had already accepted that reality a long time ago. Though she admitted that once in a while, she wished her father was still alive.

“So, do you have any siblings?” Amelia was about to answer when Levi spoke.

“Mom,” he called his mother in a voice full of disbelief. “You are already interrogating, Amelia. Please don’t make her feel scared,” he added.

He looked at his mother with his eyebrows furrowed.

“Hey,” she said to Levi. Then she shifted her gaze to his mother and smiled. “No, Auntie. I am the only child of my parents,” she continued to answer the questions of the old woman. She didn’t see any problems with her question. But she just has to be careful not to slip her tongue and mention about Luke or else, she would be in trouble.

“Oh, is that so? It could be very difficult to be alone. There’s no one else you could rely on except your parents,” Mrs. Alvarez exclaimed.
