Chapter 49

“Will your makeup artist be coming today?” Amelia couldn’t help but ask him while she was helping him to dress up.

He shook his head. “No, he can’t come today,” he answered.

Amelia was surprised when all of a sudden, the man hugged her while she was pulling him up and helped him shift in the wheelchair when he was seated properly.

She was about to push him into the washroom when the man suddenly spoke.

“You can go and dress yourself up. I should be able to do these simple things,” he said to her.
“Alright,” she replied. She would let him if that’s what he wanted so his ego wouldn’t be hurt. She knew that would be the biggest thing that the man needed. The encouragement despite his situation. He could still do things for himself without needing help from other people.

Amelia turned around heading to the door.


Levi watched Amelia’s back as she walked out from the room. He knew that he should be able to do everything that he needed for himself.

He pressed the remote control and then he went to the washroom to wash himself.

When he was finally done, he left his bedroom and brought with him the medicine kit that Amelia brought yesterday with her.

He waited for her outside while he was watching television. As soon as he opened the television, he wanted to regret what he had done. He saw Cameron's image in the morning news along with a celebrity actor. He couldn’t believe that her face was all around.

Levi just smirked instead of getting angry like what he used to feel whenever he saw the woman on TV. He didn’t know why he couldn’t feel the same anger he felt for the woman before after what she had done to him. After she had left him during the darkest moment of his life, the time when he needed her the most.

He put his hand in his left chest as he tried to feel himself if there was any bitterness left inside of him. And he couldn’t deny that he was surprised.

Levi took a deep breath after he felt that there was nothing he could feel anymore towards the woman. There was no anger nor pain because of their breakup and how she had abandoned him. He heard the sound of the door opening and closing. He shifted his gaze in that direction and he saw Amelia.

Levi didn’t want to think that it was because of Amelia because he easily moved on from the breakup that happened between him and Cameron. He would be a fool if he would deny that Amelia’s presence made a significant change in his mood every day.

He even wanted the woman to be always close to her and he was silently wishing before he sleeps at night for what they have before to go back. He couldn’t deny the fact that his heart started to beat differently when he and the woman got closer together.

Amelia raised his hopes amidst all the unfortunate events that were happening to him and his family.

“Oh, you’re already there,” she said as soon as she saw him.

“Yes, I told you. I can manage the little things,” he said, smiling at the woman. “I am just waiting for you. Shall we go?” He turned off the television. Then, he gave the medicine kit to her and pressed the controller.

It didn’t take a while until they arrived in his office. He knew that at any moment, Henry, his father’s personal assistant, would come in to give him all the papers he needed to review and sign.

“By the way, I know that you are busy with your paperwork but I just want to remind you about our session. If you want to get your recovery faster, we need to continue doing it. Do you think we can do our session here?” The woman said while looking at him.

He already forgot about that. A lot of things had happened, and he didn’t notice that he needed the session so he could stand up again and like what he wanted to do, he would show the world that he wouldn’t be in that situation forever.

“Oh, I forgot about it. I am sorry,” he apologized to her and then he looked at the papers that were on top of his table. He knew that there wouldn’t be any chance for him to do it today unless he would be able to finish everything that he needed to do.

Amelia looked at the papers too and it seemed that the woman knew what was running inside his mind that very moment.

“Well, it’s okay. The truth is that you should start to expose yourself to the sun and then do some exercise,” Amelia suggested, and he couldn’t help but feel relieved because the woman was there to remind him of what he was supposed to be doing in his life. His mind was already pre-occupied because of the sudden take over he needed to do with their own company.


Levi nodded. He knew that it would be very difficult for him to manage his time, but he had to put this session on his top priority. He couldn’t skip it as it was also very important for him to be able to walk again.
Once he could walk, he would be able to totally help his family.

Suddenly, they heard a knock on the door which interrupted their conversation.

“Can you please get the food?” He instructed Amelia while looking at the door.

Levi was looking at Amelia’s back heading to the door to get their food. After having their breakfast, he started his work again just like what he had done yesterday as soon as he arrived at the company. Amelia was just sitting on the couch while he kept himself busy.

He was in the middle of signing a contract when all of a sudden, his phone rang.
