Chapter 22
Chapter 22
Amelia couldn’t help but roamed around her gaze as she went inside the townhouse that was owned by the family of Levi.
The gate was just low, and it seemed that the people in the entire neighborhood had the same.
They had plants in front of the house.
And there were different flowers at the side of the pathway where she was walking heading inside the house.
She could feel the fresh air that was being blown by the tree that was in front of the house. It was a perfect place for someone who wanted peace and who was healing themselves from pain and heartache. In short, Levi made the best decision to stay here instead of being in Dasma. In this place, he would be away from the toxic people that were trying to drag his name from the scandal that his ex-fiancée had spread.
She must admit that she felt pity for the man. She knew Levi and she never saw the man step to anyone so she couldn’t believe that this was happening to him.
They both got inside of the house, and she couldn’t help but feel amazed by the beauty of the house. It seemed that it was designed by a well-known designer because of the exterior and interior decoration of the house which perfectly blended the place. It just showed how wealthy Levi’s family were.
Being an athlete for Levi was just a hobby for the man. Since, by just looking at their townhouse, she could tell that they almost have everything in life that a person could ask for. She knew that Levi could live a luxurious life if they only wanted but he and her best friend Elene were humble and down to earth people. They never showed that they were from a wealthy family. She couldn’t even think if someone at their place or even at their school knew the real status of their family.
“My dear, please wait for me here. I will tell Sir Levi that you already arrived. He just has a visitor,” the old man said to her. Though she already had an idea that the man was talking about her best friend, Elene.
The man looked like he had already been working for Levi’s family for a long time.
She smiled at the old man.
“Sure, sir. Please, don’t worry about me,” she replied as she continued to look around the house.
“Oh, there’s no need to call me sir. I am just a caretaker here. I and my wife. Just call me, Mon, short for Montano,” the old man then giggled after he mentioned his name. “Oh, here’s my wife, her name is Beth,” Uncle Mon introduced to her his wife who was approaching their direction.
“It’s nice to meet both of you. I am Amelia,” she said and then she stretched her hand to give a handshake to them.
“It is nice meeting you, Amelia,” Aunty Beth said. The woman looked like she had the same age as Uncle Mon.
“The pleasure is mine,” she replied after they were having a handshake.
“You said your name is Amelia?” Uncle Mon suddenly asked which made her eyebrows knitted together as she nodded her head. “Well, it’s just that your name seems to be familiar to us. The same name sir Levi used to call every time he was drunk three years ago,” Uncle Mon said. It was obvious that the man had no idea that he was referring to her. She was the Amelia whom Levi called out.
She saw when Aunty Beth pinched Uncle Mon in his waist. “Ssh… Don’t talk too much, old man. Sir Levi might hear you,” she said and then she smiled at her.
“Oops, I am sorry. Please don’t tell him,” Uncle Mon said which made all of them laugh.
“Alright dear, I will just go and inform Sir Levi that you are already here and waiting for him,” the old man said and then he turned his back and went to the corner of the house where there was a room.
“My dear, how is your travel going here? Do you want to drink?” Aunty Beth said while she was sitting on the couch.
She couldn’t help but think about what kind of life was waiting for her in this house. Was it even a right decision that she accepted the job even after knowing that the patient was no other than her ex-boyfriend, Levi Alvarez.
“Thank you, Aunty. I will be fine with a glass of water, Aunty,” she replied as she felt a bit thirsty because of traveling for a couple of hours and the weather as well. It was so exhausting to commute.
“Okay, dear. Let me just go and get a glass of water for you,” Aunty Beth said and then she turned around going to the kitchen.
She was left alone, and she was just quietly looking at the old woman’s back.
It didn’t take a while and Uncle Mon was finally back smiling at her.
“Hi, dear, sir is coming soon. I am sorry if it took me a while to get back. Just wait here and I will continue cleaning the room that you are going to use while you are staying here,” the old man said to her.
“Thank you, Uncle Mon,” she replied, smiling at the old man. She knew that the couple were easy to go along with based on what she had seen and based on their conversation so far. That made her feel at ease even just a little.
After a while of being alone, she heard footsteps coming from the direction where Uncle Pablo came earlier.
Amelia couldn’t deny to herself the mixed emotions that she was feeling at the moment. Her heart started to hammer inside her ribcage, and she could feel that it may collapse any moment.
She slowly lifted her head, and she was not mistaken. She saw how the shock registered on Levi’s face as soon as he saw her.
