Suddenly, she felt her heart beating so fast because of what the woman was saying.
“Sure, what is it? Tell me,” she said as she couldn’t help her eyebrows to furrow. She was putting all the dishes in the dishwasher machine.
She could see the hesitation in her face while she was waiting for her to spill the tea. She couldn’t help but wonder what was running inside Harper’s head and it was so hard for the woman to throw the question she wanted to ask.
Amelia saw when she took a deep breath. Harper seemed to be at a loss as she could see her eyes were starting to wander and she couldn’t look at her straight.
She couldn’t help but wonder what the woman’s question was. And if she didn’t want to get nervous, she was feeling that way because of the way she was acting.
“Are you and Levi in a relationship?” That was the question that made her stunned. She never expected to hear that, and she didn’t know how to even answer her. Though they had already slept together, everything was unclear between the two of them. They don’t have a label. She admitted to herself that she was afraid to ask Levi of what they were really. She was scared that the man would say he was just carried away by his emotions and whatever happened between the two of them was nothing and it was a mistake.
She wouldn’t deny the fact that she was feeling that the man had just mistaken her for Cameron.
“Huh? No! Why did you say that? What makes you think of that?” She saw the sadness in Harper’s eyes. She couldn’t help but ask the woman. She knew that there was something that the woman wanted to tell her and she was just holding herself back. “Hey, what’s wrong?”
She could see that Harper was trying to fight back the tears from falling in her eyes. There were already tears in the corner of her eyes.
“If Logan is courting you,” Harper said instead while looking at her. “Are you going to give him a chance?” The woman finally asked her and then she looked away. It was as if she asked the question but she was also at the same time afraid to hear the answer.
It was exactly the same way that she was feeling towards Levi. She wanted to ask him what they were after what happened between the two of them but she didn’t have the courage to ask him.
“What are you talking about?” She said as she smiled and shook her head. “But wait a minute, did you not like him?”
Amelia saw when Harper’s face suddenly turned red because of her question. She couldn’t understand why the woman was asking her about Logan.
“No! No… No…” Harper denied as she shook her head while she was speaking. “That’s impossible. We are just childhood friends and nothing else,” she added. She could feel the woman being defensive.
Amelia was just looking at her as she continued to deny everything. It was obvious that Harper was lying to herself. She could see that whatever she was saying, it was different from what she was seeing in her eyes.
She didn’t know why but she felt curious about what was going on between Harper and Logan. It seemed that the two were having a hard time admitting to themselves that they liked each other.
She shook her head.
“Come on, dear. I know that we just met but I am someone that you can trust. I am not going to tell anyone and then if you want, I can also tell you a secret of mine,” she said smiling and she could see Harper’s innocent eyes suddenly brighten.
It seemed she was so confused and yet she didn’t know what to do and to whom she should be saying everything that was running inside her mind.
Though she looked like her age, she could tell that she was innocent. She could see that Harper didn’t want to assume anything about what was going on between her and Logan.
She saw when Harper opened her mouth, and she was already about to talk when Leonard called her.
“Mo--- mommy!” They both went to the stroller where Leonard was sitting.
Amelia felt her heart was beating strangely when she got near the little boy but she tried to brushed it off. She was just thinking that she was probably just missing Luke. Deep inside her, she was wishing that she could spend more time with him. She wanted to be with his son but at the same time she had to work.
They were busy playing with Leonard when all of a sudden, her phone suddenly rang. They looked at each other and then she answered the call while Leonard was sitting on her lap.
