Chapter 24
Chapter 24
After a couple of minutes, they heard a knock on the door and then it opened. It was Uncle Mon who came inside of the room.
“Sir, Levi, your private nurse has already arrived. She is waiting for you in the living room,” Uncle Mon said as soon as he got inside.
“Thank you, Uncle. Tell her that we are already coming out now,” he said and then after that he looked at his cousin who was smiling mischievously.
He couldn’t do anything but just shook his head.
Come on. Do I need to push you? I want to see your private nurse if she is okay to be your forever,” Elene mumbled.
“You’re unbelievable,” he said as he shook his head at what his cousin said. “So, what if she is already married? Or she already has a boyfriend? I don’t want to be a third party,” he said to his cousin’s disappointment. He wanted her to stop assuming anything about his personal therapist. They were just all here because he wanted to be healed and walk again.
Elene shook her head and she was even looking so serious at him.
“What if she doesn’t have any of those you mention? What if she is single and ready to mingle?”
Levi laughed because of what he was hearing from Elene. It seemed that she was more desperate than him.
“Whatever,” he replied, since there would be no sense to argue with his cousin. He knew that Elene would never accept defeat and she would do everything to make herself right.
As soon as they left his bedroom, his eyes were focused on the woman who was sitting on the double seater couch in the living room. She was looking down on the floor and he couldn’t help but wonder what the woman was thinking.
He didn’t know why but Levi’s heart rate doubled as he got closer to the woman. He felt something weird, and he admitted that he was unable to see her properly during their meeting at the hospital. The woman was covered all over. She was wearing a scrub suit and also a face mask. So, he couldn’t see her face properly except those brown eyes.
He knew that he had seen those eyes before, but he couldn’t just tell when and where. So, when she lifted her head slowly, Levi felt his heart skip a beat as it was pounding so fast inside his rib cage. Well, who wouldn’t be shocked to see the woman who had left him without any word three years ago?
Was it fate playing on him? Why was this woman who he knew that he had already forgotten a long time ago was in front of him? And, worst, it seemed that she was the private nurse and therapist that they hired to help him recover.
He felt like there was a bucket of cold water that was poured onto him, and he was frozen from where he was standing.
He felt the fury inside his heart when he saw the woman properly. But before he could even react, his cousin was already pushing him as they got closer to her.
Before he could say a word, he already heard his cousin screaming. So far from his reaction, Elene was so excited to see the woman. She even left him and then she ran towards the woman who was sitting on the couch and waiting for them.
“Am--- Amelia? Is that you? Oh, gosh! Where have you been all this time?” His cousin said as she went near the woman. “I miss you so much, girl.”
“Uhmmm…” Levi made a slight cough for the two women to recognize his presence and at the same time to interrupt his cousin who was talking nonstop. She was already hugging his ex-girlfriend.
Elene just looked at him while smiling but he was stunned when his cousin talked again ignoring what he just did.
It seemed like he didn’t want what was running inside his cousin’s head. He didn’t want the way that she was looking at him.
“I am so happy that you are back. I am happy to know that you are Levi’s private therapist. I really had no idea that you took up this course. All I thought was you studied nursing just like me. As you tell me about that all the time. God, I cannot really believe that I am going to see you here,” Elene continued. It was as if he didn’t exist for her anymore. His cousin’s eyes were looking at the woman who was not speaking like him. “Oh, girl! You have a lot of things to tell me,” his cousin added.
Levi wanted to agree. He also wanted to hear from the woman. She had a lot of explanation to do as to why she left without any trace a couple of years ago.
But he held his tongue. Everything that happened between the two of them had already ended when the woman left. Amelia left him without a word as if he didn’t deserve any explanation.
“Are you done now?” Levi asked his cousin while looking at Amelia. He admitted that he couldn’t find the words to describe what he was feeling at the moment.
He didn’t even know what to tell her. It was like he ran out of words while he was looking at her.
There were a lot of questions that were running into his head at the moment but none of them he could utter. He felt like he lost the strength to open his mouth and think properly.
“So, how is your way going here?” He just asked instead.
