Chapter 34

They were just quietly watching the movie. They looked so comfortable with each other as if there was nothing that happened in the past.

Finally, it was time for Levi to have his last medicine for the day. Amelia stood up to prepare it without saying any word.

He couldn’t help but admire the woman because despite the past that they had; she could still work well with him. Though deep inside him, he couldn’t help but wonder what the woman’s reason was running away from him. What happened back then why she needed to leave without saying goodbye? He wouldn’t believe it if the woman would say that she just left because she wanted to.

He could still remember how happy they were back then until that day happened when the woman left him without a word.

“I will pause it first so you wouldn’t be left behind,” Levi said while Amelia was pouring water in glass and then she handed it over to him with his medicine.

“So, I am going back to my room now since you already took all your medicine,” Amelia mumbled.
“Why don’t you finish the movie first before you go?” Levi asked and it was obvious that the man was stopping her.
“But I need to charge my phone,” she said, hesitating whether she would be staying or not. She felt like it was not a good idea, but she didn’t want Levi to be affected by his presence.

“Can you use mine? What’s the model of your phone? I think I have the same model of phone and charge, if that’s the case, use my charger instead of going to your room,” Levi suggested.

Amelia shrugged her shoulders and then she went to the other side of the bed. She took her mobile to charge it.

“Why don’t you continue watching?” She said as her eyebrows were drawn together. She couldn’t help but wonder why was not playing the movie.

“It’s because I am waiting for you,” he said while looking at her.

How she wished that the man was really waiting for her. He was waiting for her after she had left him a couple of years ago because of the reason that she was not yet ready to tell the man. She would let time unveil everything that happened way back then so Levi could understand why she had to do what she did.



Amelia shook her head and then she went back to Levi's side. They started to watch the movie again.

As she was exhausted, Amelia didn’t realize that she already dozed off on Levi’s side while they were watching the movie.

The man was looking at Amelia. These things already happened three years ago. They were also having a movie marathon and they ended up sleeping together. Maybe, if his situation was different, he might have taken Amelia like what he had done before.
He couldn’t deny her alluring beauty. Levi was unable to hold himself as he put the strands of hair behind her ears. Her face was without any make up nor even foundation. Her lips were just natural as if they were inviting him for a kiss. And he wouldn’t deny that he wanted to taste them again. He wanted to feel the softness next to his lips.

Levi couldn’t understand himself, but his imagination was going wild as he continued to stare at the woman in front of him. Who would have thought that after those three long years, they would meet each other again?

He could feel his jaws hardening because he couldn’t do what he wanted. He couldn’t kiss her because he was scared that Amelia might be awakened, and she might get angry at him.
He was afraid that the woman might leave him. He needed to admit to himself that he really needed Amelia especially with his situation. He needed her to take care of him. He could feel that Amelia was doing it not just because of the money that they have offered but because she also cared for him.

He knew that what he was doing was a sin, especially that he had no idea if she was still single or if she was already married. He was just keeping in mind that Amelia still loved him and that’s why she was here to take care of him.

Suddenly, Levi felt like his eyelids were getting heavy while he was looking at her.



Levi woke up with the woman’s head already on his shoulders. This was how they were exactly positioned six years ago. Amelia was already hugging him though he could feel her legs on him as well. And with her position, he knew that the woman was already hugging him like a pillow. He just hugged her back while caressing her back.

“Ahmm…” He suddenly heard Amelia moaning. He stopped what he was doing as he was scared for the woman to wake up. He immediately closed his eyes so as not to embarrass her.

But Levi felt when Amelia suddenly moved and when she distanced her body from him.
He could no longer feel the warmth of her body on his chest.

“Oh, shit,” he even heard her cursing as she continued to move on top of the bed and until she finally got off the bed.

He could feel the quilt on his chest and the movement of Amelia on the other side of the bed as she took her phone from the charge. Then, suddenly the sound of the television was gone as he also forgot to turn it off last night. Afterwards, he heard the sound of the door opening and closing.


Levi slowly opened his eyes and then smiled as he was looking at the closed door. He bit his lips when he realized that he forgot to kiss her lips last night.

He felt disappointed as the chance slipped on his hand.
