Chapter 70
Chapter 70
Amelia felt like a bucket of water was poured onto her because of everything that she had heard from Cameron. How could the woman say all those words? She was really a wicked woman who wanted to take advantage of Levi. It was very obvious that once again, she wanted to use the man because of her selfishness.
Cameron wanted to go back to Levi’s life because she wanted to get rich. She thought that Levi was the way for her to get everything that life could offer which was true. Levi’s family was rich so they wouldn’t have any problem. Even if Levi would not work, they would still eat.
But really? Was it that easy for the woman to go back to Levi’s life? Was she really that confident to think that Levi would accept her back after everything that happened between the two of them?
She couldn’t help but wonder and while having those kinds of thoughts, she was feeling a pinching sensation inside her heart.
“Amelia… Amelia… Are you there?” It was Harper looking for her and Leonard.
She could hear her heart pounding so fast that if Harper didn’t knock on the door of the cubicle where they were in and called out her name, she was still at a loss.
She didn’t even notice that Leonard had already fallen asleep in her arms.
Amelia couldn’t believe what happened. She calmed herself down as she didn’t want Harper to think of anything.
“Ye…. Yes. We are here,” she said, stammering. “Leonard is already sleeping,” she added as she opened the door. As soon as she saw Harper, she put the boy down in his stroller.
Harper helped her to tidy up Leonard’s things and they exited the washroom.
Amelia couldn’t deny that she was bothered by Cameron’s words. She knew that it was her because of what she said. It was the same as what happened in Mr. Alvarez’s burial and even the thought about Levi was starting to walk again and soon he would be able to participate in the Olympics like what he was always doing.
But regarding that they were texting each other every night, she had no idea about that because she never saw Levi in his mobile. Not like when they were still in a relationship three years ago.
She didn’t know what to do. Her mind was in turmoil.
“Are you okay?” Harper said. It seemed like the woman noticed that she was bothered.
She timidly smiled.
“Y--- yes,” she said while nodding.
“Let’s have lunch. I am already starving,” Harper suggested.
She smiled. She thought she needed that.
“Sure, let’s go there in the Chinese restaurant,” she said looking at the restaurant near them. She needed to eat so she could have strength as she processed everything that she had heard from Cameron. That woman really had a thick face. She didn’t know where her courage was coming from.
“Okay, let’s go,” and they went there. “Table for two please,” Harper said to the waiter who greeted them as soon as they got inside of the restaurant.
“This way, Ma’am,” the waiter replied and then led them inside of the restaurant.
Amelia tried to calm herself down. And she was thankful that she could feel the beat of her heart coming back to normal.
She roamed her eyes around the restaurant to keep herself busy. It was just a typical restaurant, but they were at a table in the corner where they could place strollers without disturbing the other customers.
They were busy choosing a meal to order when Harper suddenly held her wrist. “Amelia, isn’t she the woman in Mr. Alvarez’s burial,” she turned her gaze to the direction that Harper was looking at.
She saw Cameron along with two other women. It seemed that she was really right that it was the woman whom she had heard inside the washroom earlier.
Amelia had no idea about Cameron aside from the fact that she was a teacher, other than that, she knew nothing about her.
Yes, she is,” she replied.
“Oh, I see. Is it true? That she is the ex-fiancée of Levi?”
Yes, his ex-fiancée who dragged his name in shame after what happened to him. She was the woman who abandoned Levi. Amelia wanted to tell Harper those words, but she restrained herself.
“Oh, yes. That’s what I heard and based on the interviews that I watched before I worked with Mr. Alvarez,” she replied after that she looked at the waiter and then she gave her order.
Harper gave her order too.
She found it so fun having a girl talk with Harper. Amelia couldn’t deny to herself that she was starting to like her. She felt comfortable. It was just how many months that they were seeing each other and also since they were living in the same building so, she shouldn’t be surprised about that.
Amelia was hoping that soon, she could open up more to Harper about everything in her life. She knew that for the longest time, she had no friend other than Elene.
“Well, she isn’t even beautiful,” Harper giggled which made Amelia shake her head. She noticed that the woman was giving Cameron a quick glance once in a while.
“Naughty girl,” she said while smiling. Though she knew that Harper was telling the truth. She could say that compared to her, she could say that she looked more attractive than Cameron but she just said those words to herself.
“Hey, it’s true. Look at her. I can say that compared to you, you are more attractive than her,” Harper said but she was stunned. She immediately looked at Harper when she saw Cameron looking in their direction.
It seemed that she already noticed their presence and she might be thinking that they were talking about her.
“Amelia, she saw us. I think she’s coming,” Harper said in a low voice.
