Chapter 30
Chapter 30
Amelia knew what she meant the way that he was looking at her. But for her, it meant nothing. She had dealt with a lot of patience before so it was no big deal to her anymore.
“Well, I think it’s okay. I think we should have no problem with it. You don’t have to be shy since I have already seen that before,” she replied, and it was too late for Amelia to realize what she just said to the man.
She wanted to scold herself because she had been so tactless. She was unable to control her tongue. Why didn’t she think of her words before uttering them? She put herself in just an awkward situation.
Amelia wanted to pull her hair because of what she said. There was no way for her to withdraw her words anymore.
“Oh, yeah. I can still remember that as well. I can still remember how you held it before and the first time that it got inside you…” Levi didn’t continue his words, probably, the man already noticed that her face had turned red because of how their conversation was going.
Amelia wished that the earth would open and swallow her alive because of the embarrassment that she was feeling. She hated herself for being so straightforward and didn’t think of the implication of her words. She felt that everything was going casual and until it was already too late for her to realize that she said those embarrassing words. Though everything that she said was true and even what Levi was saying.
She felt her cheeks were burning hot.
“So, tell me, how long have you been working already as a therapist?” She was glad that Levi changed the topic.
“Less than a year,” she replied after she successfully put on his clothes. Then she started to help him put his back on the headboard.
“I see. Do you think I can walk earlier than six months?” He couldn’t help but ask.
Amelia saw the hesitation on his face when he asked that question.
“I think nothing is impossible as long as you are going to give me your cooperation and on top of that to have a healthy balanced diet,” she said, and her tone was that of a professional. Like she was a doctor talking to her patient.
“So, you are going to help me, right?” Levi asked again. The man was looking intently at her as if his eyes were passing through her very soul. She could hear her heart suddenly pounding so fast because of the way that the man was looking at her.
She couldn’t help but think about what they had three years ago. Those eyes that she couldn’t forget. They were expressive and you cannot be mistaken by the emotions that they were trying to show her.
Amelia tried to turn away the thoughts that were running inside her mind. Again, she had to remind herself that she was not there to bring back the past or ignite the fire that she and Levi had shared before.
“Of course. I think that’s the very reason why I was hired. I am here with you because that’s my task. To help you recover and walk again like nothing happened to your legs,” she replied. “I am sure that you will be able to walk in no time,” she added.
“So, you are doing it with love right?” He said and she could see in his eyes that he was trying to tease her.
Amelia didn’t expect to hear that from him even if those were just words to tease her. She shook her head because of amusement by what he had said.
She couldn’t help but smile because of Levi’s words. She looked at his face and she saw him smiling mischievously at her.
“Yes, I am doing my job full of love. This is my profession, and I am doing it with passion. I love everything I am doing as long as the patients that I handle are cooperating with me or else…”
“Or else what?” Levi said as his eyebrows were drawn together as he cut her in the middle of her sentence.
“Or else, I am going to leave and just ask someone else to take care of you,” she said without beating around the bush. It was also her way to let Levi know that what they have was only a patient and therapist relationship and nothing else. She wanted him to know that she had no interest in continuing what they had in the past. For her, this was purely work.
They could be casual and comfortable to each other but not more than that.
“Are you serious? You are going to leave me again?” He asked while intently looking at her.
Amelia shrugged her shoulders.
“Like what I have said, if my patients are not going to cooperate with me then that’s the best thing that I should be doing. Why? Do you have any plans to not cooperate? Then if yes, I will call the hospital now so they can get a new therapist for you,” she replied while looking at him with a serious face.
She saw how the sadness registered in Levi’s face because of what she had said and then he shook his head.
“Don’t worry. I will promise that I am going to do whatever you ask me to do. I will be cooperative. I need to walk as soon as possible. I made a promise to myself that I will be joining the Olympics eight months from now,” he said full of determination.
She saw how his jaws clenched after he uttered those words. She couldn’t tell if that was anger that was mixed with determination that she had seen in his face.
Amelia could see how serious he was with what he wanted to achieve.
She nodded her head after she heard what she said.
“Okay, then, let’s go ahead and start the session. Let me check your legs,” she said and then she started to massage his legs.
