Chapter 98

Chapter 98
But how about Leonard? Was he really her child? What would happen if that was really that case? Who was behind all of these? Who was playing with them and what did they do for him to come to this extent? She wished that it was not the person that was in her mind that could be behind everything that happened to them or else she would hate him until his last breath.

“Ma’am? Luke can be discharged now since the IV is over, you can go ahead and settle your bill at the cashier,” the nurse said, which brought her back to her senses.

“Thank you,” she and her mother said in unison to the nurse.

Amelia turned to her mom. “Mom, I am just going to the cashier and pay the bill,” she said and then she left her mother and Luke.

She went to the cashier and then she settled their bill and when she went back to them. They were already ready waiting for her.

“Mom? Are we going home?” The little boy asked her. He looked better than earlier. Luke was no longer vomiting and he wasn’t pale anymore.

“Yes, baby. We are going home now but Mommy is going to drop you and grandma home because I need to go back to work,” she said to her son. There was a pinching sensation in her heart. She wished she could stay by his side, but she had to go back to Levi's place. If only she could tell Levi everything about Luke, it would be a lot easier for her and her son.

“Alright, mom,” Luke said. Her little son had been very understanding from the very start. He was aware why she had to be away from him and he needed to stay with his grandmother. She had to explain that she was working in order for them to have food and everything that they needed.
At a young age, her son understood that and he never questioned her about it.

Amelia carried him as they went out of the hospital, and they headed to the direction where Logan’s car was parked.
As she expected, her mother asked who the car was.

“Amelia, who’s car is that?” Her mother asked before they got near the car while Logan was standing next to the car.

“Mom, he is,” she was still speaking when Logan introduced himself.

“Good evening, Ma’am. I am the brother of Amelia’ boss,” he said while smiling to her mother. It was so casual like the man was so confident and it was the exact opposite of what she was feeling.

“Oh, good evening. How did you know we are here? Did my daughter call you?” Her mother asked one after the other before she got inside the car.

“No, ma’am. It is just a coincidence that I visited a friend and I saw Amelia earlier here. She told me that her son was hospitalized,” Logan explained as soon as he got inside of the driver’s seat.

“Yes, it’s my fault. I am sorry if I have to bother her while she is on duty. I hope you understand,” her mother said.

“Oh, mom. Please, don’t say that. It was an accident. Nobody wanted it to happen,” Amelia said while looking at her mom.

“Amelia, can you tell me your home address?” Logan asked.

“Yes, sir,” she said and then she gave their home address to him.

It didn’t take a while and they finally arrived home. Luke fell asleep while they were on their way on his grandmother’s lap.

Amelia opened the door for her mother and then she took Luke. She carried her in her arms.

“Sir, do you want to come inside and have a cup of coffee? I need to settle my son first before I go,” Amelia said to Logan.

“Oh, sure. No problem. I can have a cup of coffee while waiting for you. So, we can just go back home, and you don’t have to take a taxi,” Logan accepted her invitation.

“Thank you, sir,” she said and then she waited for Logan to come with her to their house. Her mother was already inside of the house. “I really appreciate all the help that you have given me.”

Amelia left Logan in the living room while she brought her son inside the room. Their house had two bedrooms. Luke was sleeping with her mother in the room since only the two of them were staying at home. Her dad died three months after she gave birth to her children. That's why she needed to work hard in order to provide for her kid’s needs.

“Mom, the medicine is already here inside the paper bag. I am sorry if I needed to go back to work,” she said as she felt guilty. She knew that her mom and her son needed her but as much as she wanted to stay, she couldn’t. She couldn’t also tell Levi about it because he might insist on going to the house and that would be a big problem for her.

“It is okay, dear. I hope your boss is not mad at you because you left your work. We had an emergency because of my stupidity,” she said while she was shaking her head.

“No, mom. Come on. Don’t blame yourself. It’s an accident like what I said. No one wanted it to happen. I will call you from time to time. Are the live out housemaids coming regularly? We can ask her to sleep here in the house if you like until I come back from work,” she suggested to her mother.

She felt bad that she couldn’t be with her this time that she was needed by her son.

“Yes, dear. Tina is a good person, and I am sure she is okay with that. She’s been working with us since Luke was a baby. She’ll understand but I have to ask her tomorrow,” her mother said.
