Chapter 46

She was more than enough to take care of the man. It was just Levi who was making a big deal out of it.She took a deep breath and smiled at him,

“Hey, I am fine. I can do it. It just looks difficult for you but I am used to doing things that I am doing now. It’s difficult now but trust me, when your lower body starts to have feelings, it will be easier for both of us,” she replied and smiled at him. “So, don’t worry about me.”
“Are you sure?” The man asked while looking at her.

“Yes,” she nodded. “I am sure. Please, just don’t worry about me. Let me just go back to the room that I am occupying. I will just get your medicine kit. I forgot it,” she added and then she walked towards the door.

After that she finally got inside her bedroom and then she quickly took the medicine bag on the top of the bed. She was about to go back to Levi's bedroom when she was already on her way, her mobile phone suddenly vibrated.

Her eyebrows were knitted together as she was wondering who could be calling her at that late hour.
She fished out the phone quickly and for some reason, her heart pounded so fast when she saw that it was her mother who was calling.

Amelia tried to calm herself as she swiped the answer button.

“Hello, mom?” She quickly said as soon as the call got connected.

“Amelia, we brought Luke to the hospital,” her mother’s words made her melt like a candle. She began to worry, and she was starting to not be able to think properly as she thought about the boy.

“Why? What’s wrong with him?” She asked one after the other while she was standing next to Levi’s bedroom door. She chose not to open it yet as she didn’t want the man to be distracted.

“He had a high fever earlier,” her mother said, which made her heart pounding so fast.

“What did the doctor say? What causes his high fever?” She continued to ask her mother.

“He is under observation now,” her mother said, and she felt bad for herself because she couldn’t do anything.

“Mom, please update me about Luke. I am sorry, I cannot be there,” she said.
“Sure, I will. That’s why I called you to inform you that we are in the hospital. I will keep you updated and don’t worry so much about him,” her mother said.

“Thank you, Mom. I am sorry but I need to go now because my patient needs to take his medicine,” she said to her mother with a heavy heart. The call immediately ended even if she didn’t want to.

She opened the door as she silently prayed that everything would be okay. She saw Levi was busy on his phone, so she just continued to walk towards the man’s direction.
She put the bag on the table and then she started to prepare Levi’s medicine. It was exactly eleven thirty when she gave him his medicine to drink.

“Are you leaving now?” Levi asked after she gave her back the empty glass. The man was looking at her and she was hoping that she couldn’t see the expression on her face. She couldn’t help but be worried after she received the call from her mother. And she wanted to go back to her room as she didn’t know what she should be doing when Levi was around. She felt uncomfortable.

Amelia swallowed a lump in her throat as she felt guilty. She wanted to get out and leave him and yet she didn’t do anything for the whole day but sleep.

“Do you want anything?” She couldn’t help but ask.

“Ahmm…” Levi uttered as he looked at her. “Can you stay for a while here?” The man added.

How she wished she could say no, but she didn’t want the man to think about anything.

“Yes, of course,” she said and then she sat down on the couch which was just beside his bed.
“Why are you there? Why don’t you come next to me like last night? Amelia, please? No one would know that we are sleeping together just in case you will fall asleep next to me,” the man continued.

Amelia quickly turned her head to her. She felt her heart skip a beat when she remembered about last night.

Her eyebrows furrowed while she was looking at the man. So, it means that Levi knew all along that she had fallen asleep next to him. How she wished that the earth would open and just swallow her alive.

Suddenly, she felt like her face was burning because of embarrassment. How could he act as if he didn’t know anything?
She couldn’t believe that Levi pretended like this.

Amelia looked at him with sharp eyes.
“You! Asshole,” she said to save herself from the embarrassment that she was feeling.

“I am sorry. I just wanted you next to me. I know this could be hard to believe but when you are around, I know that there is still someone who cares for me in this kind of state. I admit that I am feeling depressed, and I haven’t recovered yet, here comes another problem,” Levi said in a soft voice. She could feel the frustration in his voice.

Amelia could feel the hardship that he was feeling inside because of everything that was happening.

She suddenly felt pity for Levi. He was right. He hadn’t recovered yet and this happened. She couldn’t believe what kind of situation he had, especially with his father’s condition at the moment. He couldn’t do anything. Levi couldn’t even go to the hospital anytime he wanted because of his condition. He was paralyzed. She stood up and then went to him without saying a word.

She felt like her heart was breaking into pieces for the man, but she knew that she couldn’t do anything for him except to take care of him.

Amelia lifted up the quilt and then she put her body underneath it. She didn’t know what’s going to happen but how could she decline his request?

She looked at Levi and she could see the tears started to form in the corner of his eyes.
