Chapter 36

Elene asked one after the other which made her eyes round. She couldn’t just believe the words that were already coming out from her mouth. How could she say all of those things?

“God, is that really you, Elene? What are you talking about? Can you hear yourself? I already told you, my friend. Nothing happened to me and your cousin like what are you thinking,” she said. “You are being exaggerated. I just really fell asleep as soon as I got inside of my room,” she lied. She had to do that because if she would tell her that she fell asleep in Levi’s arms, for sure, she would have endless questions.

“Oh, okay. I thought that you already reached heaven and he pressured you,” Elene said in a teasing voice. It was very obvious that she was nit-picking.
If only she was in front of her she already pinched her. She couldn’t imagine the words that were coming out from her mouth.

“You know what? You are crazy. Why don’t you end this call and wash your mind? I only went to my dream land and not in heaven,” she said.

“Oh, I see. Did you come there with him?” Elene asked again.
She couldn’t help but smile because of how persistent her best friend was. She couldn’t understand if she was intentionally trying to say all those words.

“Elene! You are really crazy. Hell, no! Listen, I am going to send you a video from my mom. It’s Luke. He is snoring and I just find it very cute,” she said changing their topic. She was hoping that she wouldn’t continue teasing her because she felt her cheeks already getting hotter.

“Alright, send that to them. I will watch it before I go to sleep,” she said and then she heard her yawn.
It seemed like she was really exhausted as well with the duty that she had at the hospital. How she wished that Subic was just near to their place and she could go there anytime she wanted.

“Okay. Wait for it. Goodbye,” she said as she bid goodbye to her naughty best friend.

“Bye,” Elene said and then their call finally ended.

Amelia forwarded the video of Luke to Elene. She was still smiling when she was sending it. After that she put the phone on the bed while the video was still in sending, then she stood up and took out her scrub suit. She started to change and get ready for her duty.

Just like her everyday routine since she arrived at the townhouse, after her room, she went into the kitchen to make herself a coffee. She found Aunty Beth making food for breakfast.

“Good morning, Aunty Beth,” she greeted the woman with a smile on her face.
“Good morning, Ms. Amelia. How is Sir Levi? Is he fine?” The old man asked which made her frown.

She couldn’t help but wonder what happened to Levi when she was inside the washroom.

She was looking at the people in front of her with questions in her eyes as she had no idea what could have happened to the man after she left him.

“Yes. As far as I know, he is fine. Why? Is there something wrong?” She asked one after the other.

The old woman shook her head which confused her. So, why was she asking that question?

“No, nothing. Well, I just saw you come out of his bedroom earlier, so I thought that something was wrong with him,” she said while looking at her. She didn't know if the woman meant something else with her words.

She felt like her heart skipped a beat after she heard what the old woman said. She thought no one had seen her when she came out. All of a sudden, she felt embarrassed. She bowed her head while she was stirring her cup of coffee.

Amelia swallowed a lump of her throat before she spoke. She was hoping that she would not stammer when she answered them. She could see that they were both looking at her and obviously waiting for her answer.

“Oh, yeah. I came in to check his diaper. I forgot to change it last night, so I am worried,” she lied again. She hated the fact that she was starting to lie to the people around her even though it was just a white lie.

It was already turning into a habit.

“I know that your work is not easy. So, my dear, if you need help from us then don’t hesitate to call us. Anyway, Sir Levi is a good man. I can assure you that. We have known him for so long and we could not even understand everything that his fiancée was talking about. Her words in public were not true. She’s telling Sir Levi is a bad person when he isn’t,” Aunty Beth exclaimed, and she only smiled in response to it. Everything that the woman said was true.
She had been in a relationship with Levi a couple of years ago and she didn’t experience anything bad with him.

In fact, he was a loving boyfriend to her. So, she couldn’t really understand what the woman was talking about and where she was coming from. Amelia couldn’t tell if she was just doing that to get attention. But was there really a need for her to drag Levi in shame?

She couldn’t help but feel disappointed. Levi proposed to her, and she could tell that the man loved her. So, this was just totally confusing. Unless, the woman was just using Levi which she didn’t want to think.

“You know what? I just noticed and realized but you looked good for each other. So, what if Sir Levi courts you in the future? What do you think about it?”
Amelia spit out the coffee that she was drinking.
