Chapter 91

Levi was quietly looking and listening at Amelia when she went inside her room and started talking to her mother.
He couldn’t help but wonder about a lot of things. He knew that Amelia was the only child of her parents. Her parents were even so strict to her, especially his father who was working in a private company as a financial manager. Her mother was a plain housewife. That’s everything that he knew about her.

He could sense that Amelia was hiding something from him. He remembered to call Henry and he knew at the same time that it could give Amelia a chance to call her parents again. He couldn’t explain but he felt like Amelia couldn’t talk to them when she was beside him.
He could sense that the woman would be calling her mother as soon as she got the chance so that’s what he was giving to her.

Levi purposely eavesdropped outside of her bedroom. He could hear his heart pounding so fast. He knew to himself that he shouldn’t be doing it and instead give Amelia some privacy, but he couldn’t help it. He was glad that Amelia was just next to the door and that made him hear her clearly. He heard everything that she was saying and he wanted to regret it.
He took a deep breath as he tried to press his ears against the wall of the door.

“Amelia, please don’t be upset. I promise that on Sunday, we are going to eat outside. I love you, go and sleep tight,” Levi heard Amelia saying those words.

He didn’t know if it was even right that he eavesdropped and he just gave himself a reason to feel pain. He felt his heart broken into a thousand pieces as he heard Amelia was saying those words to someone else. Those same words when he said I love you to her.

Suddenly, he felt like he was betrayed by Amelia. A lot of questions were inside his mind because of everything that he had heard.


“Amelia, who is Luke?” He suddenly murmured and it was already too late for him to realize that he said those words. He saw the movement of the doorknob, so he decided to go inside the guest bathroom which was just near Amelia's bedroom.

Levi’s heart was so heavy because of the thoughts that were circling inside his head.

He didn’t want Amelia to see him and had an idea that he was standing there and heard everything that she said to the man on the other line.

Levi immediately flushed the water closet as soon as he got inside of it and then after a couple of seconds, he opened the tap pretending that he was washing his hands. Then, he stepped out of the bathroom, and he saw that Amelia was standing in front of her bedroom door.

He couldn’t figure out if it was fear or shock that was in her face, but he just ignored it. His mind was still in turmoil because of what happened. Maybe, he should have not listened to her conversation over the phone. Probably, his mind wouldn’t have a lot of things to think of.

“Let’s go to sleep,” he suggested. He didn’t know what else to say to Amelia as there were a lot of questions inside his mind, but he didn’t even know how to ask them to her.

“Oh, alright,” Amelia replied casually to him.

He wrapped his arm in her shoulder and then they both went to his bedroom.

Amelia was already in a deep sleep while Levi was still awake. He was bothered by the name Luke. He didn’t know but there was something inside his heart that he couldn’t explain when he heard that name uttered by Amelia. He was doubting if he was even Amelia’s younger brother because as far as he knew, she was the only child of her parents. That was based on the information that the woman gave to him when they were in a relationship three years ago. Unless her mother gave birth.

He stood up and then he went to his working table. He turned on his laptop and searched for Amelia’s social media account. He never got interested in checking on her until he heard Luke’s name. He felt like he was going to lose his mind if he couldn’t find any information about that guy. His heart kept on telling him that he had to know who the man was in Amelia’s life. Why did the woman need to spend time with him during her rest day?

After searching, he saw a profile with a new born baby as its primary picture. He had a second thought if it was even her account, but his eyebrows were knitted together when he saw Elene Alvarez, his cousin, was their mutual friend. So, he must be on the right one.

He hadn’t seen anything else that could be Amelia’s profile except for the one that had a baby as her profile picture. He believed it was her because there was no other name like Amelia Sanchez. He took a deep breath as he wondered whose child was that on Amelia’s profile.

“Are you still awake?” He heard Amelia was asking him in a husky tone. The woman even sounded wondering even if she was already sleepy.

He quickly turned off his laptop and then he stood up.
“I just checked my schedule for tomorrow,” he said and then he got back to bed with all of the questions inside his head. He didn’t know whether it would be easy for him to go on with his daily schedule because of all the things that he had heard from Amelia’s phone conversation. He tried to sleep but everything kept on flashing inside his mind. Luke’s name repeatedly echoed, and he couldn’t understand why.

“So, how is it? Will you be busy tomorrow?”

“I have a meeting at twelve noon so I can still drop you to work,” he lied
