Chapter 43

Amelia chose to zip her mouth after she asked Levi about their stay in the company. As she saw that there were so many documents on his table, it seemed that he was so busy reading the paper that the man had given him.

It seemed like the man was already taking over the company after what happened to his dad. She never thought that he had the capability to do it. He seemed ready to take over as she looked at him at his executive table. He was thoroughly reading everything before he signed.

Earlier, she was surprised to see the huge building where the helicopter landed. They were on the top of the building and though it was windy, she was still able to manage herself while pushing Levi’s wheelchair. Though the wind was blowing so strong because the chopper was so close to them.

There were a lot of questions inside her head, but she chose to be quiet. She knew that it wasn’t the right time to ask questions.

She looked at Levi and she could tell that the man was not in his best mood. How she wished that she could do something to at least ease whatever hurt the man was feeling. She knew that everything was over between the two of them but she couldn’t deny the fact that there was something that was bonding the two of them. There was an invisible tie that connected both of them.

Amelia knew that it was not an accident that she became Levi’s physical therapist.

Levi’s face was full of worry and she couldn’t explain but there was also the determination in his face.

As soon as they got down on the 78th floor, Levi just instructed her where to go. She roamed her eyes around and she couldn’t help but be surprised at how the inside of the building looked like.

Most of the employees were in their own cubicle. They were all busy with their own business but still they managed to stand up when they noticed their presence.

Amelia was just observing everything that was happening. She remained silent.

They greeted Levi and there was one thing that she couldn’t understand. There was a makeup artist in the helicopter when they were in the air. She was confused but she just remained silent while she was looking at what the artist was doing to Levi.

He transformed Levi to someone else especially when he was using those eyeglasses, he looked matured and a dignified person. He looked more mature than his real age. Levi was like a professional businessman like he had been doing it for a while already.

She couldn’t help but wonder if he had experience handling their business. The way that he held his head high, she knew that he could get the attention of the people around him and their respect.

Her mind was in turmoil. She couldn’t help but ask herself why Levi was doing it? Why did he even have to do it? But those questions she never voiced them out. She was afraid that the man would shut her mouth up because the reality was that she was his physical therapist and she had to stay away from his personal life.

Amelia didn’t listen to Levi when he asked her to go to sleep in his private room. Inside his office, she didn’t realize when she already dozed off while thinking about a lot of things. The questions that were running inside her mind would be all answered by Levi.


“Amelia, wake up,” A soft voice and a gentle movement of her shoulders made her open her eyes. She rubbed her eyes and she saw the handsome face of Levi who was in front of her.

And that made her immediately sit down properly. She couldn’t believe that she had fallen asleep. Was she that tired? Physically, no but her mind was so tired thinking about the answers to her questions. Though she knew that there was only one person who could answer everything that she was thinking.

“I am sorry. I didn’t know I fell asleep,” she said, apologizing to the man. She looked at the window and it was already dark outside. Did she really sleep that long?

She bit her lip when she realized that she had fallen asleep again with Levi’s sight. This time, the man was just sitting inside the room with her and working.

He shook his head as if he could read her mind.

“No, it’s okay. I know you are tired. I ordered dinner already and soon it will arrive,” he said while he was looking at her. “Go and wash yourself,” he commanded.

She stood up and she went straight to the washroom. She washed her face and when she came out of the room, she saw the paper bag on the top of the center table. It was next to the couch where she had fallen asleep earlier.

Levi was there looking at her.
She saw that there were already paper bags in front of the man and she assumed those were the food that he had ordered.
“Come, here we need to eat. I believe I need to take medicine soon after dinner. It is already past nine in the evening,” after hearing it, she quickly walked towards him, and they started to take out the food from the paper bags that she saw earlier.

Amelia felt guilty because Levi had delayed drinking his medicine.

She had no idea that it was already late for Levi to take his medicine. She felt like she didn’t do her job properly. How on earth did she allow herself to fall asleep and forget that she was taking care of someone? How come that it looked like Levi was the one looking after her instead?

She shook her head, and she couldn’t hide the disappointment that she felt for herself. For the first time, she probably felt like she had not done her job.

“I am sorry,” she apologized to Levi while they were eating. She couldn’t help but feel bad because of everything that was happening to the man, how could she miss his medication?
What if that medication was what was needed to help him recover quickly?
