Chapter 69

After being in the toy stores and getting everything that Leonard needed, Amelia and Harper decided to go to the adult section. They stopped at a shop that sells branded clothes.

Amelia wanted to close her eyes because of the price tag that she was seeing in every cloth at the shop. She couldn’t imagine that she was going to wear that expensive cloth. She would rather save it for her son’s future. She could still look decent and presentable even if she was wearing cheap clothes. But she knew that the Alvarez’s were rich so they could afford this kind of clothes.

She stopped from walking when suddenly Harper stopped as she took out one of the shirts displayed at the store.

“Look at this, Amelia. Isn’t this a nice shirt?” Harper said while she was holding a white t-shirt with a drawing of eyebrows and lips on it.

“Oh, yes. It is nice,” she replied as she looked at the shirt that Harper was showing her. It should just be nice because its price was not even a joke.

They roamed around and kept themselves busy choosing clothes but suddenly, Leonard started to get cranky. The little boy looked so sleepy. He might be tired because of the shopping that they have done. They were already roaming around the shopping mall for a couple of hours and even though she was already tired she couldn’t say no to Harper.

It looked like she was still enjoying shopping.

“I think the little boy wants to sleep. Shall we go to a nearby restaurant so I can also feed him before he dozes off?” Harper suggested.

Amelia nodded.

“Well, I think that sounds like a great idea. Let’s just go back later or if you want, go and pay for it. I will take care of Leonard,” she suggested.

“Are you sure?”

"Yes of course," she replied and smiled at her. She took Leonard from Harper.

Amelia couldn’t help but look at Leonard and Harper earlier. The woman was treating the little boy like her own. Probably, Harper couldn’t really tell what she was feeling for Logan and she understood her. That was the same feeling that she had with Levi. Her mind was in turmoil because what her mind was saying was totally different from what her heart was trying to say to her.

They went separate ways as she went out of the shop while Leonard was on her shoulders. He let the boy get himself busy so he wouldn’t cry while they were waiting for Harper to pay all the stuff that she already got so far.
She couldn’t believe that they had already purchased a lot of things but still the woman was not yet done. It seemed like they wanted to go to all the stores in the shopping mall.

She noticed that the little boy’s diaper was already full, so she needed to go back to Harper to get Leonard’s diaper bag in the stroller.

“I will change his diaper. It’s already full. It might be the reason why he is cranky,” she said to the woman.

“Thank you, Amelia. Appreciate the help. I will come there as soon as I am done here.”
“No problem.”

She had no problem changing Leonard since she was used to doing that with Luke. Suddenly, she missed her son. Soon, once she was able to save up for the two of them, she could be with him again. She was hoping that one day, she could find a job where she didn’t have to leave her son’s side.

Amelia went to the washroom in the baby’s changing area. Though the washroom seemed to be empty when they entered, she suddenly heard someone talking not far from the place that she was occupying.

“I know. I need to do something to win him back. Yes, you are right. I really had no idea that he was that rich. But I believe that he still loves me. Do you remember the photos that I have sent you? The photos where we were sleeping in his bed. That’s a few months ago. Yes, those ones taken during his father’s burial. Yes, absolutely. That means he still likes me because he let me stay by his side,” Amelia felt like the voice was familiar to her. If she was not mistaken, the owner of the voice was Cameron. Levi’s ex-girlfriend. The woman who dragged Levi to shame and at the same time had abandoned the man. It seemed like the woman had already forgotten how she had dropped Levi during the darkest time of his life, so now that he found out that the man was rich, she wanted to come back in his life like nothing happened between the two of them?

She didn’t notice that she was already clenched her fist because of everything that Cameron was saying.

She couldn’t believe everything that she was hearing from her. Amelia felt like her heart was shattered into pieces because of all the things that she was saying. It didn’t take time and she felt the cubicle door next to her open.

But Cameron was not yet done speaking. She continued talking as soon as she got outside of the cubicle. She couldn’t help but wonder how she could talk shamelessly like that in public?

“Yes, of course! I am sure of that. We are texting each other every night. He said to me that he is recovering. In fact, he is starting to walk now. In short, he is getting better. And I am sure that he will join the competition again. Slowly, I will win him back. I will make sure of that because I have a strong feeling that he still loves me,” the voice disappeared because of the water that was flowing from the tap.


Cameron was probably washing her hands while she was still on the phone. When the sounds of the flowing water stopped, she heard the sound of the heels going away from the washroom.
