Chapter 18
Chapter 18
He was speechless looking at his father, he doesn't know the right words to say, if it's right to go with his therapist or better she go by herself and meet her in subic.
“No, Dad. It’s better for her to go by herself in Subic. I don’t want to let anyone know that I am leaving. No one should know that I am not here in the house. I want some privacy. As much as possible, I want to keep the information that I am going to Subic with just the three of us,” he exclaimed. “No one should know that I am staying there or else I wouldn’t have the peace that I want to have.”
Because of everything that’s happening to him, it gave him the determination to walk again, to have a new life. He wanted to stand up again and face Cameron. He would be showing her a new version of her. He made a promise to himself that he would go back to being an athlete again or better to help his father on their business.
No one knew that their family owned a big company. A construction company to be exact which contracted different buildings in the country even abroad.
But despite this, they kept their feet on the ground and lived their life in a low profile. This was what their grandparents taught them.
Levi was watching his mother while packing his things in his luggage, they decided to leave tomorrow while his father would be going to the office. The plan was he would go with him and from the company, he would be picked by their chopper. So, no one knew that he was going to leave Manila like what he wanted.
He would make sure that once he was back in the loud city, he was already on his feet and he would stand in front of everyone who persistently dragged his name into shame.
“Call me as soon as you arrive there. I will talk to your therapist,” his mother said while she was organizing his stuff. He could see the sadness and worry of his mother for him but this was what he wanted.
He wanted to leave alone where no one else knew him so he could do everything that he wanted. He would force himself to walk as soon as possible.
“Come on, Mom. I am not an elementary student anymore. This isn’t a boy scout camping,” he said while smiling at her. “I am sure that my doctor is going to talk to her as well regarding everything that I need including my medicine. That’s her job so you really don’t have to worry about me,” he exclaimed while looking at his mother.
He looked at his mother and he could see the tears that were formed in the corner of her eyes. It was breaking his heart, but he knew that he could take away the sadness and the pain in her heart and his father’s heart by making himself able to stand up again.
His mother went to him and then she gave him a tight hug. The warmth of the embrace of his mother gave an unexplainable comfort to him.
“I am very proud of you, son. I know that you are a strong man, and you can get through everything that’s happening. One day, you will just surely laugh everything out,” his mother said in a crack voice as she tried herself to be happy.
He didn’t usually live away from his parents so this would be the first time that he would be staying away from them. He would only stay away from his parents when he was going abroad and compete. But whenever he was in the country, he was just always with them.
Levi was thankful that they had been there on his side, and they were ready to support all of his decisions. He couldn’t just imagine what would happen to him if they weren’t the kind of parents, they were already to him.
Would he be able to survive this moment of his life? Or would he just choose to end everything because of the misery that he was experiencing. It never came in his mind that he would be experiencing this. He never thought that he would meet women who would dump him in the end. The women who got involved with him always left him and he couldn’t understand why.
“Of course, if you guys will believe it then one day I am going back to my normal life. I would be able to swim again. So, if you believe in me, I should believe in myself as well, right? I should have the determination,” he said while smiling at his mom.
Though deep inside his heart, he felt so disappointed because of everything that was happening to him.
He wouldn’t deny that he kept on asking why everything happened. He had been a good person as far as he knew. He never stepped down to anyone despite the achievements that he had already had.
So, why did God let this happen to him? He had only a simple dream and that’s to make his own name to be known as a swimmer and not as a child of a businessman. Was that so much to ask and to dream for? He only wanted his family and the country to be proud of him. He was supposed to be married to the woman that he loved but everything turned out so cruel.
He couldn’t believe that his life would turn like this after the victory that he brought back home. He didn’t know that this would be the price that he had to pay for the success.
Levi couldn’t hide the pain that was in his heart. It was like needles trying to dig inside him. He didn’t even know if it was a blessing that he had an accident and at least he knew the true color of his soon-to-wife. Just like the people who were by his side. If there was a good thing that he had to be thankful of was, the accident saved him from being miserable forever for having Cameron as his wife.
He was thankful for the people who knew him very well and did their best to defend him from the false allegations of his ex-fiancée and those people whose sympathy was on her.
Amelia received a text message from Levi. He was asking if she could go to Subic instead of his house in Dasma.
