Chapter 37

“Oh, be careful, my dear,” Aunty Beth handed a box of tissues to her.

She could sense the concern of the old woman as she gave her the tissue. She didn’t mean to have that kind of reaction but she was not just expecting to hear it from them.

“Thank you, Aunty,” she said after she wiped her lips. She was a bit shocked when she heard her words.

She couldn’t imagine that they were even thinking about that for her and Levi. She couldn’t help but think what their reaction would be once they found out that she and Levi had a relationship before.

“You go and sit down. I am almost done here. Don’t be in a hurry. Also, sir Levi might still be sleeping at the moment,” Aunty Beth mumbled while looking at her.

She just nodded. She went to the dining table and put down her coffee on the table.

Amelia was looking at the back of Aunty Beth who was busy flipping pancakes. She could still remember what the old woman said earlier about her and Levi.

If they only knew that she was the Amelia that they had talked about when she arrived in this house, she couldn’t picture what would be their reaction.

Though she never expected that Levi would cry for her. Probably, the man had loved her back then. And she was just thankful that he had no remorse for her because of what happened.

“Take this pancake, my dear. It’s yummy while it is still hot,” Aunty Beth suggested and then she took a piece of it. She poured the honey on it and started to eat.

She was busy devouring her sweet, delicious breakfast when she felt that her mobile phone was vibrating. She had a second thought whether to answer it or not but, in the end, she decided to check who was calling her.

Amelia took it out from her pocket and quickly checked who was calling in the early of the morning. She was not expecting any call except from Elene. But Elene wouldn’t call her this early. She probably was still sleeping. She just talked to her earlier so she couldn’t be.

So, she immediately swiped the answer button when she saw who was calling. As it might be important for the person to call her at that hour of the day.

“Hello, doc. Good morning,” she greeted the person on the other line of the phone as soon as the call got connected.
She was a bit surprised why the doctor had called her. Probably there was an emergency and she was needed.

“Hi, Amelia. I am coming there to check Mr. Alvarez. Do you want anything? I can bring it for you from here?” Doctor Sandoval asked one after the other.

She couldn’t help but smile because of the doctor’s kindness. Despite everything that happened in her life, she was blessed with people like the doctor. Fate had been cruel but the people who tried to help her stand up again in her life were always there.


She shook her head as if the person was seeing her reaction.

“Thank you so much, doc, for thinking about me. But I had nothing to ask because so far since I just got here, I still have everything that I needed,” she answered. “When will you come here?” She asked the doctor instead.

“Well, in half an hour, I will be leaving,” Doctor Sandoval said.
“Alright, I see you then. I will make sure that Mr. Alvarez is already prepared once you arrive here,” she said to the doctor.

Their call didn’t take long, and it finally ended.

And when she was finally done with her breakfast, she put the plates on the sink. She wanted to wash them, but she had to head to Levi's bedroom. Doctor Sandoval would be arriving soon, and the man should get himself prepared.

She pushed the door open and she found the man on the bed. He was still peacefully sleeping. How she wished she could see that kind of expression in his face.

She could still remember the first day that they had seen each other again. He looked bothered and it was as if he had all the problems of the world in his shoulders which she could definitely understand why.
What he had gone through was stressful and she was thankful that he had a solid support system coming from his parents and the people around him. Because if that wouldn’t be the case, she couldn’t imagine how Levi was able to survive everything.

Amelia started to prepare all the things that the man needed. From what he was going to wear up to his medicine and even the things that they would be using to clean him. If they would be looked at, she was like a wife taking care of her husband.

And, she couldn’t deny that she was enjoying everything that she was doing for Levi.

She was already done preparing everything when the man woke up.

“Good morning,” she greeted with a smile when she saw him open his eyes.
Amelia couldn’t understand herself, but she felt her heart pounding so fast as she met his gaze.

She wanted to scold herself why all of a sudden, she was getting affected. She had to remind herself that she was there for work and not for anything else.

“Good morning,” he replied and then he smiled back at her.
She swallowed her saliva when she saw that smile. She felt like her heart stopped beating.
She felt like Levi was teasing her because of what happened last night when she fell asleep on his side. But she knew that the man was still asleep when she woke up so probably, he had no idea of what happened in his room.

Amelia was silently praying that was really the case because if not, then it was really embarrassing.
