Chapter 47

Chapter 47

Levi was so engrossed in reading the documents that Henry handed over to him as soon as he arrived. He knew that those were important because the man already gave him a heads up.

Those were supposed to be the papers that his father would be working on before he fainted. He had to read them thoroughly as these were about the proposals of their potential investors.

He felt like his life was cursed because problems seemed to come one after another. He couldn’t imagine how his mother was doing at the moment while thinking about his condition and watching over his father. Levi could feel the pain that was inside her heart. If he felt like he was going to collapse and his heart was weakened because of the unfortunate events that happen, how much more his mother who was now all alone.

He focused on the papers because he didn’t want to make any mistakes and that made him oblivious of his surroundings. He didn’t realize that it was already time and if his stomach didn’t make a growling sound, he wouldn’t lift his head and saw that it was already dark outside.

His eyes went to Amelia who was still asleep on the couch. She was sleeping soundly as if she didn’t care about the position she was in. He was afraid that the woman might be in pain once she woke up because of being uncomfortable on the couch.

Levi couldn’t help himself but looked at the woman. Once again, he got the freedom to look at her face without worrying that she might get angry at her.

She didn’t change. She was still beautiful like she was three years ago, but he couldn’t help wondering how she ended up being a therapist. She never mentioned that she wanted to be one.

He let out a deep sigh as he removed his gaze to her. There were still a lot of things that he needed to do.

So, he decided to order their food in the nearest restaurant and have it delivered. He knew that no one was already left inside of the company except for them. It was already nine in the evening and the employees should have logged out a couple of hours ago unless there was someone who was working overtime aside from him.

Levi pressed the control buttons of his wheelchair and then he went to Amelia who was obviously in a deep sleep. He needed to wake her up because of the food that was coming soon. He still had to take his medicine though it was already late. He couldn’t miss it.

But before he could even wake her up, he found himself staring at her luscious lips. It was as if they were inviting him for a kiss.

Levi bit his lower lips as he wanted to kiss her. He couldn’t help but remember what happened between the two of them three years ago. Those intimate moments they had as boyfriend and girlfriend. He was thinking if they could bring that back.

He took a deep breath after he woke her up. He couldn’t understand but just being with her felt so right despite all the chaos in his life. He found peace when Amelia was around her.

He found it cute when Amelia apologized to him because she fell asleep, and she was unable to give his medicines.

Levi could see how bad she felt because he had to take his medicines late. He could see the guilt on her face earlier when she was apologizing to her. It seemed like Amelia really valued her work because even if she was working for him, she was still treating her work seriously.

He couldn’t help but shake his head while smiling because the woman even thought that they were going to stay in the office when he said that they would be staying in the company until his father got better.

Levi couldn’t help but feel emotional because of everything that was happening to his life. He came to the point that he almost begged for the woman to stay for a while beside him because he didn’t want the feeling of being alone. He wanted to be with someone as he might not be able to control all the emotions that he had inside brought on the events that happened in his life.

He couldn’t help himself but feel vulnerable in front of her. He was still undergoing treatment for his legs and he couldn’t believe that his father was rushed to the hospital. If it was not for his condition, he should be with his mother at the hospital and helping her look after his father.

He felt bad for her mom as she was there all alone and handling everything by herself. He even called Henry earlier and he sent him to the hospital so he could accompany his mother. Since he was his father’s personal assistant, he was comfortable asking him to run around. He already gave him the documents he needed and the secretary of his father could be the one to help him just in case he needed anything.

In their company, no one knew his real face except those people who trusted his father and somehow, he was thankful with that thought. He could work peacefully without minding the people around him talking about the incident that happened to him and Cameron.

As the woman made everything known in the public, he was sure that even the people in the office knew about it. He knew that he couldn’t escape their judgment if they would recognize him. Though he knew that he shouldn’t be paying attention to these people, he couldn’t help it.

“I know that everything that you are going through is difficult but always remember that you will not be given a test that you cannot pass. So, don’t lose hope and everything is going to be fine. It may take a while but surely, there is always light at the end of the road. You may not understand why everything was happening, but you will understand it when the time comes. You will know the reason,” Amelia said as she touched his face. Probably, because he couldn’t restrain himself from crying. Her words just struck right in his heart.
