Chapter 23

Chapter 23

Levi arrived in Subic at eight in the morning through their private chopper. He was thankful to his dad for arranging everything for him. And now, he was inside his room at their townhouse. He was waiting for the personal therapist that his parents had hired for him. He already sent a message to her an hour ago before he left his parent’s company.

He was just really hoping that this therapist would be able to help him recover as soon as possible. He wanted to show the world that he was not what they were thinking about him. He wouldn’t be crippled forever. He would do his best with all the sessions that he would be having so he could move his feet again.

He was looking forward to the time that he would be able to leave his wheelchair and stand up using his feet. He wanted to show Cameron that she was wrong for leaving him during the darkest time of his life.

Levi didn’t notice the time. He was only back to her senses when he heard the sound of the car engine that stopped outside of their house. Then, he heard the car honking outside. He couldn’t help but wonder who it could be? Unless it was his personal therapist who was waiting for.

He couldn’t help but smile thinking that the therapist had her own car. Not because he was being judgemental but he knew how much a therapist could earn. So, probably, the therapist must be from a middle-class family.

After a while, he heard a knock on the door.

He was sitting in his wheelchair and before he could even go in that direction and open it, he was surprised to see his cousin, Elene.

His forehead knitted while he was staring at the woman who was in front of him. He couldn’t believe that she was there.

The shock and surprise that he felt couldn’t be hidden from his face.

“Hey, what are you doing here?” He said as he couldn’t help but wonder how on earth the woman knew that he was there. He couldn’t remember telling her that he was on his way to Subic. “Why are you here?” He asked again.

He was looking intently at his cousin who was smiling widely at him. He couldn’t figure out what exactly was running inside her head. And, most especially, what she was doing in the place when he instructed his parents not to tell anyone where he was. He was afraid that the reporters might have followed her.

“Well, I am just visiting you. What else do you think?” Elene said to him and she was obviously ignoring his questions.

He knew that his cousin knew what he meant.

He was meeting her gaze but he couldn’t understand why there was excitement in her eyes. What could this woman be planning?

“I know but how did you know that I am here?” He said as his eyebrows were knitted together while looking at her.

Elene smiled mischievously at him and then she shrugged her shoulders.

“Oh, come on. I have a source,” Elene said and then she giggled. “You cannot hide anything from me.”

He also laughed while he was shaking his head. It was true. He knew that Elene had a lot of connections but the fact that he told everyone that no one should know where he was, something was wrong. He knew that his parents wouldn’t tell his cousin where he was because they knew how tactless the woman was.

“What are you doing here? I mean, why did you leave Manila?” She asked full of curiosity as soon as she sat down on his bed.

She looked around his room.

Levi had already expected the question that had been thrown to him. He knew the reason why he had chosen to be in this place rather than in Manila.

He wanted peace and he could only have that if he was away from the paparazzi in Manila. He wanted to be away from the place that reminded him how miserable he was.

“Come on, Silly. Like you don’t know what’s happening outside our house. I am already fed up with fake news,” he said as he clenched his fist. He couldn’t help the anger that suddenly rose inside his chest as he recalled everything that was happening to him back there in Manila.

Elene nodded at him and then she was looking at him intently.

“So, admit she’s not the right woman for you?” Suddenly, the woman asked him. Levi already felt that Elene was not in favour with Cameron. He could tell from the sound of her question that it was like she was saying that she was right all along for hating the woman.

“Well, who would be the right woman for me? They just always leave me behind which I couldn’t understand except for Cameron who obviously hooked up with me because she wanted fame,” he said and at the same time he felt the pinching sensation once again inside his heart.

All he had thought was that he already found the right woman to settle down and to spend the rest of his life with, but it was a big mistake.

“Oh, come on, forget about them and just think that you are now having your therapy. You have to think positively about having a bright future,” she said and then smiled at him. “I heard that most of those bosses who had private nurses ended up marrying them,” Elene said again which made him laugh.

Levi shook his head. He had no idea that his cousin was becoming weird already because she was always watching telenovelas.

“You know what? Stop watching too many telenovelas because you are already becoming weird,” he said and then after that they heard the sound of the doorbell outside of the house.

“Oh,” Elene uttered all of a sudden as her eyes went wide. “That might already be your perfect one,” she said and then giggled again.

“Crazy, you are becoming exaggerated already. You better stop watching those TV series,” he mumbled.

They waited for a while until they heard a conversation outside of his bedroom. Now, he was sure that it was his therapist who arrived.
