Chapter 32

Amelia shook her head. “No, I am fine. Why?” She answered as she lifted her head from reading the book.

Levi couldn’t see any trace of tiredness to the woman even though she didn’t do anything but to support and guide him for the whole day.

He could say that Amelia was really dedicated to her job. She was so professional. She never hesitated to do anything to him despite the fact that they had a past. It seemed that the woman was well prepared for her job. And, he admitted that he was admiring her professionalism. He wondered if another woman was actually working with him. Would they do everything that Amelia was doing for him?

“You can stop reading now and go to your room and take a rest,” he said to her. “I know that you are tired.”
“Are you sure?” Amelia said while looking at him with her eyebrows drawn together.

He nodded.

“Yes, it’s already eleven in the evening. You can go and take a rest,” he commanded the woman.

“Later, I will go to my room. There's still half an hour left for your last medicine,” Amelia replied. He was shocked. Amelia was very hands on when it came to him. She knew what time all his medicines needed to be taken. He admitted that he was happy because he knew that the woman was taking care of him.

Levi was about to talk when Amelia’s phone suddenly lit.

“I guess, you have a message,” he said looking at her mobile phone.

Amelia quickly took her phone and then she looked at it. He was quietly looking at the woman who was typing on her phone until she put it back on the side table.

To his surprise, he was unable to hold his tongue.

“Boyfriend?” he couldn’t help but ask while looking at her. Levi couldn’t understand but he wished that she would say no.

Amelia shook her head and he felt relieved.
“No, it’s your cousin, Elene,” Amelia casually answered him.

“Oh, I see,” he nodded. “What did she want from you in the middle of the night?” Levi asked.

He knew his cousin very well and probably that woman was saying something to Amelia.

“Nothing,” Amelia said, smiling. It looked like what he was thinking was right.

“Is she teasing you again?” Levi asked as soon as he saw the smile of Amelia.

Amelia’s eyebrows furrowed while she was looking at him.

“How did you know?” She asked.

“What else should I be thinking? I know her very well, she loves to piss off people,” he replied while he was shaking his head. And then after that he looked at the book on Amelia’s lap.

“You can go now and take a rest,” he commanded the woman.

“But you still have one medicine that you need to take,” the woman said without moving on her chair. “I can stay for another half an hour until you have taken that.”

Levi shook his head.

“Don’t worry about it. Just put it on the side table and I am going to take it by myself. Remember, we still have to be early tomorrow.”
“Ah, I am your nurse, and I should be the one who would decide if I need to take a rest. Can you just let me stay, please? Let me finish my duty. If you want to be alone, I can leave the room and then I will just come back when it’s already time for you to drink your medicine,” Amelia replied. And, to his surprise, he could sense an irritation in her tone.

It seemed like his ex-girlfriend was really passionate and dedicated to her work. Even if they knew each other, she was still working professionally, and he couldn’t help but admire her.

“I am sorry. I didn’t mean you feel that way. Okay, you can stay until I am done with my last medicine,” he replied. He didn’t know why suddenly he felt scared that Amelia might be upset, and she might leave again. Just like three years ago, he found himself doing everything that Amelia asked from him. He obediently listened to her because he didn’t want the woman to get mad at him.

He didn’t want to see the woman crying. As she already cried before because of him and he felt like his chest was tightening.

Levi got involved as well before in an accident but it was just a small accident because of his motorbike. He was drunk that time and he came to her boarding house but he got into an accident not far from her place. Because of the commotion brought by the scene, Amelia had seen him and he saw how the woman was so worried about him. She was crying nonstop as if he had already died. He saw how the tears from her eyes continued to flow until he was taken by the ambulance. He was brought to a nearby hospital. He saw that Amelia’s face was swelling as she had cried a lot. She was just beside him when he lost consciousness until he woke up. He was even surprised to see the woman was sitting beside his hospital bed that time.

That scene was so far from what he had experienced from Cameron. Levi shook his head as he tried to turn away the thoughts about the wicked woman. He didn’t want to think about her until he was already recovered.

He wanted to show the woman that she was wrong to think that he could never stand up and get out of the pit where he had fallen.

Levi was back from his sanity when he heard Amelia suddenly speak.

“That’s okay. So, just listen to me. I will go now, and I will just go back later,” Amelia said and then she was about to turn her back when he held her wrist before she could even take a step away from the bed.
