Chapter 21

Chapter 21

Just right after they have finished eating their breakfast, Amelia and Elene started their journey as they headed to Subic.

It took them two hours after they came out the north expressway and finally entered Subic.

She had been playing the music on her phone to help her feel relaxed. Because no matter what Elene was saying that the man already moved on from her, she couldn’t help but feel nervous to see him again face to face.

She closed her eyes as she felt the music. She could hear her heart pounding so loud inside her chest.

It was her first time to be in the place and Amelia couldn’t help wondering what was waiting for her in that place. She heard it was a peaceful and clean province. A place that was so far from the city where she came from.

Maybe this was the reason why Levi chose to stay at the place. Even if it was far from the people he loved, it was a place that offered serenity. It was something that he needed the most after everything that happened in his life recently.

“What would you tell him if he sees you?” Amelia asked her best friend who have her eyes
focus on the road. She didn’t want to disturb her because she was worried

“Oh, good question. I actually never think about that. So, if we go together, then he would think that I know your whereabouts for the past three years and it would make him suspicious. He would think that we have been contacting each other for those years,” Elene said which made both of them quiet.

Elene’s eyes were focused on the road but she knew that she was also thinking.

As she knew that wouldn’t look good for Levi. He might ask Elene a lot of questions. She didn’t want her best friend to be in a situation in which she would be in between her and Levi. She was already kind enough to help her for the past three years and today. She wouldn’t like her relationship with his cousin to be ruined because of her.

“So, how about let’s do this? Let’s not go together. Let’s say you go first and then I will go by tricycle,” she suggested. “I assume a tricycle would be enough to go to his place,” she added.

“Well, I think that’s a good idea. I will put you down not far from their townhouse,” Elene suggested to her.

Amelia just nodded.

“Yes, sounds like a plan but one thing, what are you going to tell him? If he would ask you, how did you know that he is in their townhouse?” She asked. She couldn’t help but feel her heart beating so fast, especially because she knew after a couple of minutes, she would finally see Levi, without her facemask.

She didn’t know what her reaction would be once they saw each other face to face. She was afraid that the man would push her away.

“Hey, don’t think so much. Don’t worry about that, let me handle it,” Elene responded to her.
After less than half an hour, they finally arrived in Subic. Then, Elene dropped her down in the supermarket so she could just take a tricycle going to the address that was given to her by Levi.

There was a mixture of emotions inside her which she couldn’t find the words to describe. There were like horses racing inside her chest.

But she knew that there was no way to go back to Dasma. She was already there, and she knew that she must continue her way to Levi’s townhouse and be his personal therapist and nurse.

As soon as she got out of the car, she called a tricycle going to Levi’s place. She was just hoping that the man wouldn’t think that she was with Elene.

“Carmelita townhouse, block 50,” she said to the driver as soon as she got inside the tricycle.
She saw how the driver was shocked when he heard the address that she had given.

“Miss, but if you are going to the place then you have to pay two hundred and fifty pesos because you are the only passenger. The queue of the tricycle going to that address is in that area,” the driver explained to her probably, because he saw her forehead knitted.

“Oh, thank you. But it’s okay for me to pay that amount as long as you will drop me in the exact address,” she said and then she put her small trolley bag inside the tricycle.

It didn’t matter to her how much she needed to pay. She had to be in that place as fast as she could. She didn’t want Levi to wait for so long as it might give the man a reason to get mad at her during her first day of work.

Amelia had no idea that it would take her half an hour before she arrived in front of Levi’s house. Elene never told her that the way to the place was that far and there was so much traffic because according to the tricycle driver, it’s a market day for the people and there were so many people going to the capital of the province.

She replied after she put her small trolley bag inside the tricycle.

It was not yet the end of day and yet, she already felt exhausted.

She saw Elene’s car in the parking area of the house. So, she decided to press the doorbell at the gate. She had to wait for a little while before she saw the man approaching in her direction. She could say that he was probably in his early fifties.

“Good morning, Sir. I am Mr. Alvarez’s private nurse,” she said and smiled after she introduced herself.
“Hi, good morning. Sir Levi is already waiting for you inside,” the man said while he was opening the gate.
