Chapter 33

“I--- I am sorry. Can you just please stay here?” Levi said while staring at the beautiful face of Amelia. She hadn’t changed for the past three years that he hadn’t seen the woman.

She was still beautiful though she looked a bit mature. While he was staring at her, he could say that she had changed and looked just like her age. He couldn’t help but wonder what happened to the woman for the past three years since he was gone.

Amelia nodded her head and then she sat back beside his bed. For a couple of seconds,

She was just looking at him and for a second, Levi felt scared the way that she was looking at him. He couldn’t understand but his heart was pounding so fast while Amelia’s gaze was focused on him.

She was serious. It was as if he had done something wrong to her and he couldn’t help but feel afraid that she might just leave without a word, a trace just like what she had done to him a couple of years ago.

“Please, don’t be demanding. I am not your nanny. I am your nurse, your therapist. Let me just clarify that. If you want me to go out, then tell me. I will understand, okay? Just let me do my tasks,” she said, and he could sense that she was not really happy with what he had said to her.

Levi felt guilty because she was right. Amelia was acting professionally but here he was, and he was trying to treat her like she was not his nurse.

He felt embarrassed. He should have not done that and tried to understand that Amelia was clear when she said that she was with him because of the work that they had offered and nothing else.

“Okay, I am sorry. I will not do that anymore,” he said in a low voice. He was hoping that would be enough for the woman to be back on her mood. Or else, he wouldn’t know what else he should be thinking.

Should he call his cousin, Elene? Probably, she could calm her down just in case Amelia’s mood wouldn’t change. He didn’t want her to leave.


“It’s okay. I know what exactly you are feeling. Probably, you are bored because I didn’t do anything except to read books on your side,” Amelia said which made both of them laugh.

It was true that she didn’t do anything but read books. But it was not a reason for him to get bored. In fact, he was enjoying the time that they were spending together. He felt so comfortable with her and he couldn’t deny that her presence was helping him a lot to cope up with the depression and the sadness that he felt since the accident happened to him.

He never felt this relaxed since Cameron started to make stories. He always had a lot of things running inside his mind.

But now, it was totally different. Amelia uplifted him and that’s why he would be mad at himself if the woman would quit because of his stupidity.

Levi felt relieved when he heard the sound of the laughter of the woman. He was happy because she was not really pissed off at him. He was afraid that she might think that he was not cooperating with their sessions, and she might leave him again.

They had already started the therapy session and it would be hard if he had to get a new one. And aside from that Amelia knew what she was doing. He must admit that before, he doubted her capabilities but as day went by, he could say that she was really capable in her job. And he didn’t regret hiring her and his decision to be in Subic and get himself healed in the place.

“So, how about let’s watch a movie?” He suddenly asked while looking at her intently. He couldn’t think of anything else that they could do aside from watching a movie.

“Yes, I think that would be a good idea. While you are waiting for the time to take your medicine,” Amelia agreed with what he had suggested.

“Okay, so let’s go ahead and check movies over the internet,” he said. He couldn’t hide the excitement that he was feeling at the moment.
Levi felt like he was a different person since he met Amelia again. It seemed like he was back to life despite what happened to him.

He could say that the woman had a strange effect on him which he couldn’t understand and if possible, he only wanted her to be on his side.

“Okay, so whose phone are we going to use?”
“Your phone?”

“Ah, how about your phone? My phone is still charging,” Amelia replied. “It’s low in battery,” she added and sounded sorry.

“Alright,” Levi said and then he took his phone from the side table.

He unlocked it and then he quickly connected to YouTube on the television, “So, which one do you want to watch?” He asked as soon as he brought the list of the movies.

Amelia scanned the list and then she pointed to the title of the movie that she wanted to watch.

“That one. Fast and Furious,” they both said and then they both laughed.

They were both having fun in the movie. He could still remember that when this movie was out in the cinema, he watched it with her. Then, he even bought a CD of it and watched it again at Amelia’s boarding house. Because of the movie marathon, they forgot their limitations and they found themselves sleeping in Amelia’s bed. They were both naked under the quilt. That was one of those memorable nights that they had together. A night that they first gave into each other’s desire. And then after that, their relationship suddenly ended without any word when Amelia was gone.

Amelia was the only one who knew the reason why their relationship ended just like that.
