Chapter 20

Chapter 20

“Are you going with me on a bus? I will take a taxi and I can pass by your place. Or we better meet at the bus station?” She asked to confirm how they would be going to their destination. But she was silently hoping that Elene would offer her car. She would be able to think clearly and prepare herself if that would happen.

“Again? Seriously? There’s no way that we will be commuting. What’s the use of my car and having a driver’s license? Just wait for me and I will just have a quick shower,” and the call ended. She knew that Elene was now in a hurry to prepare herself.

Amelia couldn’t help but smile because her idea of calling her best friend was effective. Her bait was bitten by Elene. She knew that her best friend was so keen to see Levi’s reaction. Even if she found it nonsense, she was still thankful because she would have someone just in case things turned around into something that was not in favor for her.
Amelia was looking at her reflection in the mirror. She could see herself getting more mature. She already looked like her age unlike before. Her eyebags were so visible because of all the duties that she had at work and at home. Silently, she was hoping that her heart had also matured enough. Let the past not take control of her present. She was praying that what happened before wouldn’t turn back if possible.

She let out a deep sigh. She knew that there was a great possibility that would be brought up but she took the risk because she needed to earn enough for everything that she needed.

And working with Levi could be a test for herself as well if she had already moved on from the man. She would know if the past wouldn’t ignite anymore to the present. And she would find herself having no more feelings towards him.

Besides, it had been a couple of years and it would be silly if she had kept that inside her heart even if she was not seeing the man.

To accept the job offer even if she knew to whom she was working with was like a game of her heart for her. She was hoping that she could overcome everything that would come her way and reach the finish line without a heartache anymore.

No extra baggage from the past though forgetting him was next to impossible because of the memories that he had left to her. And the memories that she had taken away from Levi.

She knew that she had stolen a beautiful memory from the man that they could have shared together. But it was something that she never wanted to do.

Amelia knew to herself that she never gave the man a chance to see that memory and even had a chance to take care of it. She was the only one who bore to see everything in three years.

She continued whatever she was doing. She took the pair of clothes she chose to wear on the top of the bed. After that she went out of her room and ate her breakfast while she was waiting for her best friend.

Elene was from a wealthy family and she knew everything about her and Levi’s wealth. The reason why she had left Levi three years ago. And of all people, it was only Elene who knew everything about her. Her best friend knew her so well that she hadn’t hidden anything from her.

She took the egg in the fridge and then she made a scrambled egg. She put two pieces of toast bread in the toaster and then she turned on the electric Kettle for coffee.

Amelia was almost done with her food when she heard the sound of a car engine outside of the apartment where she was staying.

She waited for Elene to come in. She was so close to the woman that she had a spare key to the house.

Amelia was grateful to Elene because she had been there for her. She never left her despite everything that happened to her.

Her best friend was there all throughout her life for the past three years. She had never questioned her decision, but she was just there to support her.

She was the one who had helped her with everything that she needed for the past three years. She stood up and made a coffee for Elene.

“Hello,” Elene’s voice while entering the house.

“I am here. Come and join me for breakfast though I am almost done with my meal. I know that you didn’t have anything yet. I am sorry I couldn’t wait for you,” she apologized.

Elene just smiled at her.

“No problem,” she said and then she sat at the dining table and took the coffee from her hand. She took a sip on it.

If just looking at the woman, she didn’t look like she was from a wealthy family. She was down to earth and she just lived an ordinary life.

Well, like Levi. She had no idea how wealthy their family was and when she learned it, she distanced herself from him.

“He is just a silly man,” she said after taking a sip of her coffee. “I really had no idea that he was in Subic. What would he be doing there?” Elene said and then after that she took a bit of her toast bread.

She just shrugged her shoulders because she was unaware too that she would be working out of town.

“Well, he just sent me a message that he is there. He asked me to go there after he had given me his address,” she said while finishing her food.

“I see. That’s their townhouse in Subic. I think he is staying there, and no one knows about it except for us. I don’t think Cameron even knew that place,” Elene replied to her while she was looking at the toasted bread. She was thinking and obviously wondering what her cousin was doing there.

“So, best, you should know that there’s no more turning back,” Elene giggled and then she smiled mischievously at her.

“Yes, and what’s that smile? Silly.”
