Chapter 42

Amelia was just looking at him. He knew she wanted to ask questions but he had no more strength to explain everything to her at the moment.

“Amelia, please go and pack up your things including my medicine. You are coming with me. We will go back to Manila,” he commanded and then after that he looked at his phone. He was done providing instructions to the people he was with so he was starting to dial the number of the pilot of the chopper so he could pick them up as soon as possible.

After he gave some instructions to the pilot, their call ended. He looked at Doctor Sandoval apologetically.

“I am sorry, Doc. I need to go back to Manila as soon as possible. I hope you understand,” he said full of sorry in his voice and then he looked at Amelia who was just there in front of her. The confusion and worry was all over her face.

“No worries, Mr. Alvarez. I will leave too as soon as you guys already leave,” he nodded and then said to him.

Levi couldn’t help but feel like he was going to collapse because of everything that was happening in his life. He couldn’t quite imagine that after him, his father was hospitalized.

After a while, Aunty Beth arrived. “Sir Levi, the lunch is ready, and you can have lunch first before you leave,” she said to them.

He nodded to Aunty Beth and then turned to the doctor.
“Alright, let’s have lunch first doc before we go,” he said while looking at the doctor. After that the doctor stood up and then he pulled his wheelchair as they went inside of the house.

Upon arrival in the company, Levi asked his father’s assistant to show him his father’ schedule. Early when he was on his way to the helicopter pad, his mother called him that his father was in coma. The doctors found a blood clot in his brain, and he needed to undergo surgery.

He didn’t know what he should be thinking of. Life seemed to be cruel. He had not recovered yet and this happened to his father.

Levi could already imagine his mother’s broken heart because of everything that happened to him and his father.

He had to be strong. He couldn’t show to his mother that he was also becoming weak and losing hope because of all the incidents in their lives.

“You can take a rest in my private room,” he said to Amelia as soon as they got inside of his office.

His father already prepared an office for him at their company even if he didn’t show any interest in handling it. That was because they knew that at the end of the day, whether he liked it or not, he would still be the one who would be managing the business of his parents.

They just gave all what he wanted in life while he was still young. He let them do what he wanted in life. To be an engineer and to be an athlete. They were well aware that managing a business was not his cup of tea. But still he studied about it through a private tutor so no one in the school had an idea about his real identity. They wanted to stay a low profile. And even when he was using a mask when he went into his father’s company, no one would recognize him. They hired an excellent make-up artist every time he was going there.

And because of being paralyzed, they thought that he had an accident because of hiking. That’s the rumor that was circling around the office. One of the reasons why he was also so eager to walk less than six months. He knew that nothing would be impossible if he would be giving his best.

And based on what the doctor had said to him, he was improving a lot and he had to admit that his personal nurse and at the same time physical therapist was good.

“I will be fine here,” Amelia replied. He was just looking at the woman and then he took the documents in Henry’s hand.

“Thank you, Henry. You can go back to your work. I will just call you later if I need anything else from you,” he commanded and then the man stepped out of the room.

“Amelia, can you please lock the door for me?” He said while looking at the woman. Amelia quietly stood up and then she locked the door as he asked.

He knew that he would be at this table one day but he never thought that it would be soon. He never thought that it would be this kind of incident that would happen for him to use his office.

Levi focused his attention on reading the documents that were in front of him when Amelia suddenly interrupted him.

“Mr. Alvarez, it is already time for you to take your medicine,” she said, and Levi immediately lifted his head.

“Thank you,” he said and then he took the medicine in her hand. As much as he wanted to explain what was happening, he chose to stay quiet.

“Hey, if you feel hungry and you want anything, please don’t hesitate to ask,” he reminded the woman. He was busy with the paperwork that he needed to do as soon as he arrived.

Since his father was not around, he had to take over everything that he needed to do at the company.

“Are we going to stay here?” Amelia asked and he could see the hesitation on her face whether she would be asking the question or not. He could see confusion in her eyes and a lot of questions but his mind was in turmoil to even talk to her about everything that was happening.

He nodded as an answer to the woman’s question.

“Yes, I am planning to be here until my father gets better. We are going to stay here.”
