Chapter 58

Chapter 58

“I am sorry, I thought you were on duty, that's why I didn’t bother you,” she explained to her best friend.
But if she was to ask, she wanted to be with the woman since it had been a long time since she last saw her. They had been both busy and their schedule never matched.

“Well, my duty is already finished. I will be then until tomorrow I should be free. As I am going to be working in the night shift. So, how’s our baby?” Elene said as she shifted her gaze to the boy sitting in front of her.

“Oh, you want fried chicken?” Luke said and then he gave the fried chicken that he was holding to Elene.

She smiled and so Elene smiled back to her.

“Oh, thank you, sweetheart. Just eat well,” Elene said and then she kissed Luke’s cheeks again.

“Wait?” Amelia said while her eyebrows were drawn together. “I am sorry but why are the two of you together? And what’s that?” She asked as she noticed the ring in her ring finger.

She looked at them closely and then she looked her best friend in the eyes.

Elene was just smiling at her while Sandi was scratching the back of his head. She raised one of her eyebrows when she realized what was going to the two of them.

“Ayieee.. Congratulations, best,” she stood up and then she gave Elene a tight hug. She didn’t mind even if there were people looking at them because she suddenly shouted. She felt happy and excited for her best friend.

She never expected that Elene and Sandi had something romantic going on between the two of them.

“Best, since when? I really don’t have an idea that the two of you are dating,” she said full of disbelief in her voice.

She couldn’t help but ask because she felt like she was blind not to notice that something was going on between the two of them.
Probably, she had been so busy doing her job and minding her own business that’s why she didn’t notice the spark and the chemistry that was between the two. She admitted that she was focused so much with her own life that she had been oblivious to her surroundings.

“Well, while you are busy taking care of your ex, me and Sandi are dating. I wanted to tell you, but I really didn’t get the chance,” Elene whispered while they were looking at Sandi who was feeding Luke.
Amelia was happy for her best friend because finally, she found the one for her.
“Does your family already know about this? Is Levi aware?” She couldn’t help but ask.

Elene shook her head. “No. It’s only my parents but soon we will have an announcement to the family,” she said to her.

She nodded. “I see. Whichever you like to do it. I am so happy for you, best. I mean, I am shocked but I am really glad because finally you already found the man that would love you and protect you,” she said while looking at her.

Amelia spent the whole day with the couple and her Luke. It was already past seven in the evening when Sandi and Elene dropped them at her parents’ house.

She was happy for the whole day because she had been with her best friend and Luke. She was able to make up with the two important people in her life. Though she still couldn't believe that her best friend was already engaged.

“Thank you, Sandi and best. Please drive safely, Sandi. Send me a message, best once you’re home,” she said while they were going down.

“Don’t mention it. Please give our regards to Aunty,” she said and then Amelia closed the door of the car.

“Yes, I will. Goodbye.”

"Bye, bye Luke."
"Bye Godfather and Godmother," Luke replied while he was waving his hands to them.

They watched them as they drove away and then after that they got inside the house.

"Luke, mommy needs to go back to work. Please behave while I am away. Don’t give your grandma a hard time,” she said to her son.

“Yes, mom. I won’t,” Luke replied and then she hugged her son so tight.

“I love you, baby,” she whispered while she was still hugging him.

“I love you, Mommy,” the little boy answered.

As soon as they got inside of the house, she saw her mother waiting for them.

“So, you are going back to work now?” She asked her.

She nodded.

“Yes, mom. I have to. As much as I want to stay here, I cannot. Anyway, I think in a month or two, I am going back to the hospital,” she said to her mother. She could feel that by that time, Levi already recovered and could start walking.

“Oh, but your salary for being a private therapist is quite higher than when you are working in the hospital.”

“Yes, mom. That’s because I am working full time and I deserve that amount,” she said to her mother.

“I understand. So, how is your patient?”
“He is starting to stand now, and he can take a few steps, but we are not abusing it yet,” she said.

“Well, that’s still a great improvement.”
“Mom, I need to go now,” she said to her mother because she was worried that if she would stay longer, her mother would ask more, and she might slip her tongue and tell her about Levi.
Amelia quickly hailed a taxi as she was going to Alvarez’s company. She looked at her wristwatch and it was already past eight in the evening.
It didn’t take a while and she was already standing in front of the company.
She didn’t worry about getting in since she already had access to get inside of the building. And for the private elevator that would help her reach the penthouse. She could use her finger as Levi already registered her fingerprint on it since he decided to live in the penthouse.
As soon as the elevator opened, she found the place was already dark except that the light coming from the moon was illuminating the place through the glass wall.

"Levi…" she murmured, as she was starting to get scared when something hugged her from behind.
