Chapter 48

Chapter 48
It was exactly how he was feeling. He was confused why everything had to happen to his family. As far as he knew they never stepped down to anyone so why life had to knock them down like this. He couldn’t understand why he had to be crippled. If God was teaching him a lesson, it’s in a very hard way.

Levi didn’t notice that his tears were already flowing out from his eyes. He felt his cheeks getting wet as the tears continuously flowed. His shoulders were already shaking because of how hard he cried himself. He wanted to cry everything out hoping it would lighten the baggage that he was carrying inside of him.

Then, he felt when Amelia wiped these with her thumb. He could see the care and the concern that the woman had for her. She was like a friend who was ready to listen with all his cry.

Levi couldn’t believe that the woman was doing this to him when he was supposed to be comforting her.

“I don’t know. To be honest, all of a sudden, I felt sorry for myself. I couldn’t even stand up to comfort my mother at this moment. I should be there on her side to comfort her and support her,” he continued sobbing in Amelia’s shoulder as she pulled his head to her shoulders. “I know that she had already suffered enough pain when the accident happened to me so I couldn’t imagine what she is feeling right now. I wished I could be with her and hugged her so tight,” he added while sobbing.

Levi poured everything out in her. He admitted to himself that he looked so weak in front of her. But he didn’t care at all. He felt like he was going to explode if he wouldn’t be able to let out everything that was inside his heart. His heart was already heavy and he felt like his whole world crashed. Maybe, if he only had a sibling that could help him, this would at least be lightened but he had no one there to help them.

Levi was in that position for a while until he felt that he was already fine. He parted his body on her and then he looked into her eyes. He could see the sympathy that the woman had for her. He could see the care in her eyes.

“I am sorry if I showed how weak I can be in front of you and on top of that I even made your shirt wet,” he said with a thin smile on his lips. He was trying to make himself feel better.

“It’s okay. I am just here for you. You can rely on me,” Amelia said while looking in his eyes. “Like what I told you, I know exactly how you feel at the moment and I just want you to know that I am here just beside you and you can count on me.”

The next day, he woke up to find Amelia was still sleeping next to him. She was facing him and Levi couldn’t help not to touch her face.

Her fair and silky skin. He couldn’t restrain himself not to touch her smooth skin while he was still staring at her.

“You are still as beautiful as ever. I really just don’t know until now the reason why you left me three years ago,” he murmured and then he put the strands of her hair behind her ears. He saw when Amelia moved her lips, and he immediately removed his hand in her face. He was still looking at her. That in the moment Amelia will wake up, and he wasn't mistaken as he saw when Amelia slowly opened her eyes.

“Good morning,” he greeted her as soon as she woke up.

“Good morning. What time is it already?” She asked.

“I don’t know. I didn’t check,” he honestly replied. He was just staring at her face since he woke up, so he had no idea what time it was already.

Amelia turned on the other side of the bed to take her mobile phone and checked the time.

“Oh, it is almost seven. I need to get up and prepare for our breakfast,” she said to him. She couldn’t believe that she had stayed in bed up to this time as if she had no work to do.

Amelia was disappointed in herself. She shouldn’t be acting like this. It was as if she already forgot that she had work to do.

Levi held her hand. “You don’t have to. We just have to prepare and go down. The restaurant will deliver our breakfast at eight. So, let’s hurry up,” he commanded.

"Alright, let me go wash myself before I attend to your needs." Amelia suggested.
“Before you leave, please help me get in my wheelchair,” he asked her.

“No, it will be double work. How about you change first before I prepare myself?” Amelia suggested to Levi instead.

“Well, that sounds better,” he replied because he wanted to help her with simple things. If that’s how he could lessen the burden she had then it would be okay for him. He is looking every move of Amelia, as she took the clothes he is going to wear, she's preparing everything he needed before she came to him,

He was watching Amelia when she was removing his diaper. He couldn’t see any disgust in her expression. He knew that the smell of poop and pee was so disgusting, but he couldn’t see any of these in Amelia’s face. It seemed that the woman was really used to doing this kind of work.

He could say that she was a strong woman, and her husband was a lucky man. How he wished that he was that man, the one that meant for her.
