Chapter 14

Chapter 14

As soon as they were talking with his doctor, Levi was surprised that his parents already hired a therapist for him and at the same time the person would be going to be his private nurse. As soon as the doctor mentioned the name, Amelia, he remembered the woman he had known before, Amelia. She was his first girlfriend but just like Cameron, she had left him. The woman left him three years ago without any trace. She was gone like a bubble.

And thinking about that bitter memory, he immediately turned the thoughts away and the idea that it could be her.

But while the doctor was talking to them, they were interrupted by the knock on the door. They all looked at the direction of the door and there was a woman wearing a white scrub suit and a mask who got inside.

Levi almost fell from his wheelchair when he found out that he was not mistaken with the thought that was running inside her head. The doctor was really referring to his ex-girlfriend, his first love who left him before.

He didn’t know how he should be reacting but after they shook their hands, they greeted each other. They finally settled all the details of her employment. The start date of her job as his private nurse and therapist had been given.

Levi wanted to know what the meaning of this could be. He was lying down in his bed but the image of Amelia, his ex-girlfriend and Cameron were both in his mind. He couldn’t help but compare the two women who became a part of his life.

He shook his hand as he tried to recall everything that happened to his relationship for both women.

Amelia left him without any trace. She just suddenly went without a word to him. While Cameron was there she publicly abandoned him during the time that he needed her the most.

What had he done wrong to deserve everything that was happening to him? He couldn’t help but ask because of how cruel life could be to him.

For his existence in this world, he could not think of anything that he had done to step down to anyone. Despite the victory in his life, he kept his feet on the ground. So, why were all these things happening to him?

He took a deep breath as he turned on the television but before he could focus his attention on the screen, he suddenly heard a knock on the door and it opened.

“How do you feel now, cousin? Is everything okay?” It was Elene who came inside with a plastic bag in her hand.

He looked at his cousin and then he just shrugged his shoulders.

“Well, we are the same. We are abandoned,” he said and then chuckled. He couldn’t hide the bitterness that he was feeling.

“Here, I brought your favourite siomai,” Elene took out the container with a siomai inside of it and then he handed it to him.

Levi looked at his cousin. He knew that she was worried for him though before the night of the accident she was pissing him off.

“Thank you,” he replied and then opened the box. He started to eat. “This is yummy.”

“Indeed. By the way, I heard that you are going to hire a private therapist, is it true?” She asked full of curiosity.

He nodded while he was taking another bite of siomai. If there’s anything in this world that could make him feel better, it would be the taste of this food.

“Yes and at the same time that would be my private nurse,” he replied. If he was to ask, he didn’t like it. “The truth is that it is mom and dad who wanted to hire someone. They are the ones who are interested in hiring that woman,” he blandly said. It was already too late when he realized his expression.

Elene’s eyebrows were knitted together while looking at him.

“Why? Who’s that woman? Do you know her?” Elene asked, which made him frown. It was as if there was a secret about that therapist.

“Yes,” he said, showing that he was uninterested. “I already met her earlier at the hospital and I don’t know but she has the same name as Amelia, your friend,” he answered.

Elene’s eyes went wide.

“Woah! Who knows? She might be that woman. She can be your therapist, Levi,” she said while looking at her.

He shook his head. And he was hoping that it was not Amelia that he knew.

“Silly, don’t think too much. That’s just impossible,” he said though deep inside of him, he was wondering about the possibility that it was his ex-girlfriend. He wasn’t able to confirm it earlier since he was unable to see her face that was covered by the facemask.

But if it was his ex-girlfriend then wouldn’t he have the chance to ask why she needed to leave without a word? He would get a chance to clarify everything that happened in the past. Afterall, he couldn’t deny to himself that suddenly, the question why she left was stuck in his head.

“Hey, what’s wrong? You suddenly went quiet. Is everything okay?” Elene’s voice dragged him out from deep thoughts. He didn’t know what he should be thinking of.
His life was a mess. He was not yet done with Cameron and all of a sudden, his past might come back to life again if Amelia was really his ex-girlfriend.

His eyebrows were knitted together and confusion was all over his face. He couldn’t help but think about what his cousin said.

“Yes, I am just thinking about what you had said. It could be her because I didn’t see her face earlier since she is wearing a mask,” he replied while looking at Elene. But what was it for him if it was really his ex-girlfriend?

He didn’t know but suddenly, he saw a mischievous smile on his cousin’s face.
