Chapter Hundred-and-Thirty-Three
**Third-Person POV**
Emily could sense that she was being followed. She had seen the person's shadow before she had heard the footsteps behind her. She shook her head at the pitiful attempt of this person to spy on her. Besides the fact that it was simply pathetic; the person was not discrete at all.
Emily turned down an alleyway and stopped in front of a small hut. At least that is what it looked like from the outside. When she stepped inside, the place was a large room, bubbling with business activities. There were several stalls set up within the hut where people traded all sorts of things. This sort of magic was not strange to people who lived in the underworld. Emily walked towards the trader her father had instructed her to buy a diamond necklace from. She had no idea why he would need such an item and why he would send her on such a simple errand.
Regardless, she walked toward the man who sold the item she had come for.
“The necklace? How much does it cost?” Emily asked.
“Two souls,” came the response.
Such a bargain would have appeared strange to a visitor, but this was the currency of the underworld. If one needed to buy anything one had to be ready to make hard sacrifices. Sometimes it costs more than souls to trade; sometimes it costs compassion for your fellow beings; your friendship with important people; your wealth and power to generate wealth; the love of your life; your parents; and just about anything important to you.
“I have them locked here,” she said as she produced a locket. Her Father had given her the locket and in all honesty she did not want to know whose souls he had entrapped there.
The man examined the locket and seemed pleased.
“May I interest you in something else?” he asked, his eyes glinting mischievously.
“I am not…”
“Madame, I will show you, and then you can decide what you want to do,” she did not trust the smile on the man's face, but how much could looking hurt?
“It is a map; here. Look at it,” he said with a smile. She really wished he would stop smiling and, besides, she was not sure how a map would interest her. However, when she held the map she saw plainly where Regina was and the map contained portals to access her. She could also see the twins… The man snatched the map from her and said, “So?”
She narrowed her eyes on the man. This was why her father had sent her. He wanted to test her loyalty to him. If she purchased the map, it would mean that she was ready to lose something important for Regina, whom her father now hated for running away from him. So, she put on a nonchalant gaze and said, “Why would that interest me?”
“It does not? Then I have another…”
“Just give me the necklace, will you?” she said, feigning irritation in her tone.
“Of course, Madame. I did not mean to upset you,” he wrapped the necklace and handed it to me.
She sensed that whoever had been following her, had joined the crowd that had formed around the next stall, waiting for her to finish her purchase.
She walked very fast towards the direction of the person and bumped into the person.
“Oh, I'm so sorry. Are you alright?” she said, feigning concern.
“I… yes, yes,” the person was covered from head to toe, but she could register the shock on the person's face. She could also hear a woman's voice underneath all those clothes. The voice was soft and regal, so she guessed whoever it was had a royal standing.
“I just get so clumsy sometimes… I didn't mean to… I'll pay to get your clothes washed. I did step on you… look at that…dirty,” Emily said, ignoring her yes.
“It's alright,” returned the lady.
“You sure? I would like to make it up to you with a drink or something… what are you doing tomorrow? We could grab lunch together or something. You sound like a fine person,” all Emily wanted to know was if this person was trying to find out her purpose here.
“It's not nec… actually, I would not mind that. We should meet up in front of this place tomorrow,” came the response. Emily smiled at her deviousness. She was going to make the enemy hear what they wanted to hear. Also, she had succeeded in putting the stranger off her trail. The stranger was well aware that she could not continue to follow her now.
When Emily left the trading hut, she made her way to Tyler's house.
She knocked once and waited. She received no response, so she knocked twice, waited, and then knocked five times. This time, the door opened.
The moment the door opened to let her in, she grabbed Tyler by the neck and demanded, “Now, you will explain to me how you lost Regina.”
“Princess… Princess… if you will just let go off…” began Tyler, which only made Emily strengthen the grip on his neck.
“How the hell did you lose her?” She demanded. He had one job alone, and he had managed to fail at it. How hard could it have been for him to keep her from going ‘under’.
“If you would just release my neck, I will tell you,” he said.
“Since you can still talk, you might as well say it,” Emily returned, glaring at him.
“Fine. I'll speak.”
“Go on…”
“I slept and when I awoke, she was gone. I swear I had no idea she…”
“You had no idea? You really want to say you had no idea?”
“Babe, you should let the man speak,” Captain Thoma came into the outer room.
“I would let him speak when…”
“Come now, love. Do you not miss me?” Thoma removed Emily’s hand from Tyler's neck while she glared at him in fury.
“I do not miss you one bit and as for you, I am not done…”
