Chapter Three-Hundred-and-Thirty-Seven

3rd Person POV

“This had better be important,” said Regina once Caephas had succeeded in prying her away from her intimate session with Dagen.

“You knew something was up with the Fae Queen and you did not think to let me know about it?” inquired Caephas. His tone was displeased.

“How do you know that?” asked Regina. She had wanted to have concrete evidence before turning to Caephas and going back to Hades.

“She banished me from Mount Shasta and then unbanished me immediately after, she is not acting rationally,” said Caephas.

“That is not proof that…”

“Aurora looks troubled,” added Caephas.

“I need more evidence, Hades is right. I could end up judging her actions wrongly because of my personal bias against her,” said Regina.

“You informed Hades and not me?”

“You didn't even want to involve yourself with the whole Fae thing. Hades and I did all the planning, did everything to make Mount Shasta a safe haven for them on earth,” Regina defended her actions. Caephas knew that she had a point. The only reason he had got involved was because of the zombies. He had known that that would be a real threat to existence for all of Earth and he had continued his alliance with the Faes because it had been the only way to get to Irvette.

“Well I'm here to help now,” offered Caephas.

“It's quite pointless, we cannot do anything until we have concrete evidence,” Regina said to Caephas. Regina could not believe she was repeating the words Hades had said to me but it was true. There would be sure consequences for those who participated in destroying a Fae Queen without cause and now that she had found love again, she wasn't willing to risk so much.

“It's simple, confront her,” said Caephas.

“With what? A relic from her past?”

“What did she love more than anything when she was alive?” Ceaphas asked Regina. She did not like the answer because that would be the love of her life.

“You want me to use Dagen?” She asked him. She wanted to believe that he was referring to something else.

“Use Dagen, do whatever it takes. You know more than anyone what is at stake here,” Caephas had a point but she did not want to risk his life.

“I know you cannot do it, so I'll do it for you,” said Caephas.

“What?”

“I will tell the Queen of Fae that you and Dagen are getting married, her reaction would enable me to know if she remembers her past or not,” what Caephas had just said made much more sense to Regina.

“It is very likely she will not fall for it so she may invite you and Dagen to tea to give your union a Fae blessing,” continued Caephas. Regina had a feeling she was not going to like the rest of the plan.

“I do not like this plan,” Regina voiced her displeasure, “there has to be another way.”

“Who knows? She may attempt to lock me in Mount Shasta when I tell her about your marriage,” said Caephas with a shrug.

“Why would she do that? Besides, you are more powerful than she is,” Regina stated, it was true too.

“Not If she's joined forces with something stronger,” replied Caephas. Knowing Nydia, Regina was sincerely worried that this might be the case. She no longer thought that even Caephas was safe on Mount Shasta but they could not sit on their hands and do nothing.

“When you are there and in trouble, make sure to let me know at once so I can alert Hades,” Regina said in a serious tone. She did not want anyone to get injured.

When Caephas left, he made his way to Mount Shasta. The last time he had been here, he had been banned and if not that he suspected Euphrates of becoming evil, he would never have stepped foot into Mount Shasta again.

Euphrates was pleased that he had accepted her apology. She had thought that it would have to take getting Irvette to Mount Shasta to bring Caephas but he had come so easily and over a flimsy apology.

Euphrates was glad she could finally do her job. She alerted Carlos of Caephas' presence in Mount Shasta before going to see her guest.

“Lord Caephas! I am honoured that you accepted my apology,” said Euphrates as she breezed into the room. Caephas returned the fake smile on her face with an even faker smile and said, “Of course! Our kind cannot be at war forever.”

“Certainly! I assure you that it will never happen again,” returned Euphrates.

The pleasantries done, Caephas knew he had to get right to business.

“Well, I came here on very important business,” said Caephas as he cleared his throat.

“Business, you say.”

“Yes. My friend Dagen is planning to surprise Regina with a wedding in the skies!” Euphrates hid it well but Caephas had been watching her face closely, he had not missed the sour expression that had masked her face for a few seconds.

“You don't say!” she squealed as though excited but it was clear to Caephas that she was faking it—he could tell by the way she balled up her fist in anger and the way the smile on her face refused to reach her eyes. While her lips were stretched out in an attempt to smile, her eyes were raging with one emotion only—pure rage.

“If it is not too much trouble, I would like you to organise the whole thing,” he ignored her sour expression and continued to smile like an excited fool who was blind to her emotions.

“It is never too much trouble,” Euphrates had a creepy smile on her face this time.

It was then that Caephas noticed that something was terribly wrong. He began to feel dizzy very fast. He was on the verge of passing out when he snapped his fingers twice to alert Regina that things had gotten awry.
