Chapter Three-Hundred-and-Forty-Eight
Regina’s POV
I rushed to the throne room worried that something bad had happened. A thousand thoughts ran through my mind as I hurried myself to the throne room. Could it be that my father had died already? just days before my wedding? Was it Dagen? Had something terrible happened to him? I forgot all about the lights and petals and beautiful sights that had lit up this place. Surely, there could be no festivities now.
But when I entered the throne room, there was no one there.
It took me a full minute to understand what was happening and when I did I almost broke down in tears.
The throne room had been designed with paintings of myself and the children and of Dagen too. The floor was decorated with roses and lilacs and the room was mostly candlelit.
Dagen came into view then. He took soft steps towards me and knelt on one knee when he got in front of me.
“Regina Marilyn Roland, you are more than just the most beautiful woman in the entire universe, you gave my life meaning and brought indescribable joy to my world. Will you marry me?”
It was impossible to keep the tears from streaming down my cheeks and I could not keep Dagen in his knees forever so I said yes.
He slipped the ring into my finger and I helped him up to his feet. As we kissed, we were surrounded by our family and close friends.
It was beautiful.

Aurora was beautiful the next day.
I had watched Euphrates' crowning ceremony and several coronation ceremonies but there was nothing quite like this. Aurora was adorned in white diamonds from head to toe. I could not see the dress that she wore underneath because it was covered in diamonds. She looked ethereal as two fae creatures_an elf and a fairy placed the crown of sapphire and onyx on her head. The crown was a peculiar one. It was designed like a wreath and so to the untrained eye, it would appear like she was putting on some flowers on her head.
She was extremely beautiful, to say the least.
“She’s exquisite,” remarked Irvette who sat beside me. I had only brought her along for Aurora’s coronation because Caephas had begged me to bring her with me. He had been busy all this while trying to stabilise things in the sky after Princess Eris attempted to steal the throne from him.
“I know.”
After the ceremony, I went to greet Aurora personally. Irvette followed me, the land of the Faes was full and the atmosphere could be very daunting for those who had no magical powers.
“Regina! You came!” she squealed in excitement upon seeing me.
“I wouldn’t miss it for the world,” was my response.
I and Irvette said our congratulations and just at that moment Caephas appeared beside us. Aurora and I knew at once that he wanted to spend some time alone with Irvette so we excused the both of them.
“I have your wedding present,” she said to me.
“Wedding present?” I had been receiving gifts all week.
She led me to a room and when she opened the door I was confronted with the most beautiful wedding dress in the world.
“Aurora! How did you know!”I had not even asked her yet.
“I had an inkling. Do you like it?” she asked me.
“I love it! It’s beautiful!” There were tears in the corner of my eyes. This week had been overwhelming and it was beginning to feel like I had a reason to burst into tears of joy every day.
3rd Person POV
“Your Majesty,” Caephas addressed Irvette by her title. She bowed her head slightly, he held a much more superior position to her and did not have to address her that way.
“Lord Caephas.”
“I want to apologise for leaving your palace abruptly the other day,” he said, his tone sounding sincere. Irvette believed there had to be a good cause for his actions. She had noticed that there had been no light in the sky for several days and so she knew that something must have caused it.
“It is no problem, you do not have to apologise,” she replied with a smile.
“No, I must and I must also add that I am sorry for coming onto you so strongly. I know nothing about relationships or love,” said Caephas.
Irvette smiled, he really knew nothing about love because there was nothing to apologise for. If anything, she owed him an apology for trying to tease him that day.
“We are good, then?” quipped Caephas.
“Yes, we are,” she returned with a smile.
“If so, might I interest you in a dance?” inquired Caephas.
“You may,” she smiled and held out her hand so he could take it.
As they danced, Caephas asked, “You really have no intentions of getting married?”
“I will only marry if it would help me politically. I am not delusional about love,” she responded.
“But I hear you have received quite the marriage requests from some very influential persons and yet you refuse to marry any of them,” said Caephas.
“How would you know that?” demanded Irvette.
“I know a lot of things,” Caephas replied with a casual shrug.
“The fact that I would marry if it helps me increase my influence does not mean that I do not want to marry a decent man,” said Irvette.
“Then I take it you do not think that I am decent?” questioned Caephas.
“You are a different kind from me, a marriage between us will never be possible,” said Irvette.
“How so?”
“What will you do then? Leave the sky to come live with me? Or you expect that I leave my Kingdom to come be your wife in the sky?” When she put it that way, Caephas could see why a union between them might be difficult.
“It does not have to be that way, there is a way for us to cohabit.”
