Chapter Hundred-And-Eighty-Seven
**3rd Person POV**
Queen Emily had been hoping to have her cousin at this party. She had been expecting to plan a party with Regina solely for the twins. They had been through so much at such a tender age and they deserved a break. Regina also needed one; it felt like her cousin had never had a moment's respite since her birth. Emily also had the mind of not allowing Dagen to see the twins. She felt that her cousin would do the same. However, the twins needed their father and after everything they'd been through they deserved this much.
“You have fifteen minutes,” Emily said in a stern voice to Dagen after introducing the twins to him.
Reginald and Charlotte on their path did not seem too excited to see the man Aunt Emily had introduced as their father. They had grown up without him and they felt no emotional connection with him. They also did not understand how he was their father when he'd never been there for them. In a way, it was all very confusing. They had been introduced to so much family in a very short time. There was Rowan and Aunt Emily and Grandma Tristan and Aunt Harriet. They began to wonder if there was even more family that they did not know about. All they really wanted was their mother.
Dagen on his part did not know what to say to them. He had dreamed of this moment since he had learnt of their existence; he'd had several imaginary conversations with them too but now that it was actually happening he could not think of a single word that made sense to say to them.
The two of them kept staring back at him with their large eyes. They could be mistaken for identical twins but when one looked closely, one could tell that Charlotte had gotten her suave looks from him and Reginald had favoured his mother's DNA. He was mesmerized by their beauty and at the same time, he struggled to put words together.
“Huh..uh. So? uhm…”
“He's an idiot. I told you so,” Charlotte said to her brother with a wide grin on her face. Dagen was a bit taken about. Nobody would call him an idiot and survive but this was his children. They could do worse and he would not even lift a finger.
“What?”
“Just wait, Charlie,” Reginald said to his sister, although he had begun to feel that he'd lost his bet and their new father was really an idiot.
“See? He's hopeless,” Charlotte replied with a wicked-sounding laugh.
“The two of you; you're doing the twin thing,” said Dagen as he shifted his attention from Charlotte to Reginald and back to Charlotte. He knew about the twins thing because Edvin and Nydia had shared such a connection once when they were a lot younger. Those had been good times. As he looked at his twins, he hoped with all sincerity that nothing ever came in between them.
“Enough about the twin thing already,” Reginald said, rolling his eyes.
“The twin thing? Tell me about it,” said Dagen, seeing an opportunity for the twins to warm up to him.
“We're tired of standing,” whined Charlotte, implying that it would be a long conversation.
“Of course, shall we?”

Irvette took in a deep breath as she strode out of the palace. The party was over; it had been pensive but she had to give the twins credit for making the atmosphere bubbly. She had also held her breath all night because she was convinced that the children would point a finger at her and accuse her of being a wicked person. She was conscious every minute that the twins were going to reveal to the group that she was a kidnapper. She was surprised, however, that none of that happened. The twins had been nothing but civil to her throughout the party. It was like they could not recognise her at all which Irvette was not certain she should find relieving or scary.
Personally, she was relieved the party was over but anxious to see what would happen with George now. Everything was in place for his capture yet, it felt like something was going to go terribly wrong. Irvette tried to focus on the positive but it was extremely hard and she felt like she was suffocating.
She entered her carriage where she would be alone except for the driver who was out of her line of sight. She did not really believe in any God or goddesses but she said a short prayer regardless.
She was the first one to leave the palace. It had been planned before now; she would leave the party first because her journey was the farthest and she had an event to be at the next day. It was so that she could provide George with information about the twins and possibly reveal where they would be even if they left the palace.
She entered her carriage with a leap of faith and when they had pulled out of a secure territory, she did her best to reign in on her fears. Just like she expected, she was soon joined by George. The expression on his face however was not patronising at all and was somewhat scary.
“Did you think I would never know?” His tone was menacing.
“What are you talking about?” asked Irvette trying to stand cool-headedly.
“The coup you're planning against me? Ring any bells?” quipped George.
Irvette thought she was going to wet her pants.
“I don't know what you're talking about,” Irvette said as calmly as she could.
“You traitor,” spat George.
“Traitor? You bastard!” screamed Irvette. If he was going to kill her at least she would at least give him a piece of her mind.
“HOW DARE YOU SPEAK TO ME LIKE THAT?”
“Like what? You bastard! You killed my father in front of my eyes and you question how I speak to you?”
