Chapter Hundred-and-Thirty-Four
**Emily’s POV**
“You break my heart! You do not miss me?” Thoma feigned a broken look which was hard to ignore, but I was in no mood to entertain his theatrics. I was not sure if it was a last-born trait, but I had noticed that he loved to joke around a lot.
“I do not, Thoma. Tyler, how the hell did you lose her? You can speak freely now, I do not hold you,” I said. I needed an explanation; something to go by on. I had met Regina on the ship and I thought I would be able to reunite with her here where I would be under less scrutiny by Sandra.
“She saw an ad to become a maid in the underworld palace. I do not think she knows that the palace is another place entirely. It is here but it lives beneath us. No one goes there and returns. I told her not to go, but she was insistent. So I stayed up, I mean, I tried to stay up. I slept off eventually and when I woke up she had left. I followed immediately, but it was too late already,” Tyler explained, his voice was sober too. I knew that he regretted every day not staying up that night, but in the corner of my heart, I did not fault him. I knew Regina well and once she set her mind to do something, she was going to follow through with it.
“This ruins everything, everything. I can't go under, no one can,” Regina had gone to a place where it was almost impossible to get her out.
“Babe… if you will just be calm and…”
“Calm? Calm? My cousin is under, and you tell me to be calm? I cannot find the twins, and you tell me to be calm?” I said.
“Lord Edvin tells me Alpha Dagen will be going under. They are currently preparing rituals for his passage,” returned Tyler in a small voice. He looked like he had just been scolded severely by his mother. I could not help my temperament, it was just a part of my nature. Father always blamed my lack of a husband on my anger. It was true a little bit; Thoma and I had broken up a lot of times that I had lost count.
“The more she stays there, the more she'll lose her essence until she has no physical body to return here,” I complained. I was deeply worried about the situation.
“She's royalty. I do not think her body will dissolve so quickly,” said Thoma.
“Perhaps I should go?” I suggested.
“NO,” the both of them responded.
“What about the twins? Any news on them yet?” I asked them.
“Not really. We do not know their location yet. But I have confirmed that Lady Nydia and Irvette are working together. I believe they are keeping the twins' hostage..”
“Those bitches…continue.”
“I believe Lady Nydia is doing this out of resentment towards Dagen. Lord Edvin says we can do as we please with Nydia,” said Tyler.
“Good. Because when I catch that bitch, I will dismember her until she is no more. By the way, I made acquaintance with the lady that has been following me,” I said.
“That is dangerous Em, you should be more careful,” exclaimed Thoma, to which I rolled my eyes. He has always been overprotective.
“I am careful, Thoma. But it is important. I have a feeling it is one of those bitches. I wish to see her face.”
“So?”
“I am going to see her tomorrow. I hope she doesn't cover her face this time,” I said in response.
“I will follow you,” returned Captain Thoma.
“You cannot. Thoma, you understand that we can never be seen together. Nobody must know of our relationship,” I said to him. If my father found out that I had been philandering with Captain Thoma he would force me to marry him, which he had been trying to do for a long time.
“I will follow at a distance…”
“Or I can…”
“None of you is going to follow me, okay? I will go there by myself and return by myself. You will not follow me and if I discover that you are following me, you both will be in trouble, understood?"
“But baby…”
“No buts. You will do as I say and that is final, understood?”
They nodded at what I said, but it wasn't enough for me.
“We do,” they chorused.
“Uhm… I was wondering about… you know…how are things back home? I'm sure you receive letters and stuff,” Tyler started to say in a shy voice. I knew what he really wanted to know, but I was not about to give him that satisfaction.
“Things at home are fine; not that it's any of your business,” I replied to him.
“I mean… Harriet. Princess Harriet, How is she?” he finally summoned the courage to ask.
“She's alright.”
“Is she seeing someone? I learnt she broke up with Prince…”
“We're in the bloody underworld and all you care about is if Harriet is seeing someone? What if she is? What then?”
“Is she?” his voice sounded alarmed.
“Ask her for yourself,” came my retort.
“Em, are you going to spend the night? We've been apart since we…”
“We are not here to entertain each other. Sandra will be waking up soon and wondering where I am. Goodnight, you two,” I said, turning my back on them to leave.
“Wait. Not even a goodbye kiss?” Thoma pleaded with doe eyes.
I allowed him to kiss me and as our kiss deepened, Tyler coughed.
“Remember, no one shadows me tomorrow,” I mentioned it again, knowing fully well that they were going to flaunt my instructions.
“We have no intention of…”
I left their house and began to make my way to my quarters.
When I returned, I met Sandra sound asleep. The drug I had given her had been very effective.
I undressed myself and went to bed. Tomorrow was going to be a long day.
