Chapter Hundred-and-Sixty-Four
**3rd Person POV**
Lucian was not sure what had happened between the two of them but it was glaring that it was ugly. He did feel disappointed in his friend as it seemed like he abandoned Regina. To Lucian so long as she bore a part of Perisphone’s soul, she could do no wrong.
Lucian did not want the conflict between the two of them to escalate and was about to suggest a quieter place for them to resolve their argument when they were joined by Princess Eris.
“Oh my! You have grown so much,” Princess Eris remarked. She had not forgotten the infamous visitors of the Fae Queen.
“Princess Eris,” he acknowledged her in a polite but distant tone. He did not know much about the politics here but he was aware of the rivalry between Lucian and Aegan and as a friend of Lucian's naturally his allegiance fell to his friend.
“Hmm. What is this? A reunion?” Princess Eris had learned from George that Dagen was coming to the underworld in search of his children. Princess Eris was happy that it was so. It meant that the twins had to be here somewhere and all she had to do was find them before any of them. While George needed Regina for his sacrifice, she needed the twins for her own.
“Prince Lucian, it is a pity. You have lost your love again, how sad,” crooned Princess Eris in a mocking tone.
“Ooh. I'm sorry. I thought you tell each other everything seeing as you are friends,” the shock on Dagen's face had been a dead giveaway to Princess Eris. She thought that it meant Dagen had not known. However, Dagen had wanted to pretend that he was not aware that Lucian was mates to his own mate also. It was not a kind thing to do but he had wanted to take advantage of his friend's sense of loyalty.
“Regina, wait… Prince Lucian is aware of your identity, yes?” quipped Princess Eris with a mischievous smile. She was trying to plant the seed of doubt and mistrust among the three of them but all of them could see through her act.
“Princess Eris, I hope this is not a ploy to lure us into your bed. I know we are all beautiful people but trust me, you cannot match all of our stamina combined,” returned Prince Lucian. Princess Eris' face paled. If Lucian could say that it meant that he was aware of all her sex orgies.
“When my son transforms into Hades, your souls will be among the first ones he will extinguish,” Princess Eris' voice was bitter with anger.
“You should excuse yourself, Princess Eris. A little birdie told me that the king of the Darkest Sea was coming to the palace to take his daughter back home. I'm surprised you are still here,” said Prince Lucian. If Princess Eris’ face had paled before it was now whiter than death. She scurried off at once.
Her father had sent her to Hades' palace with a clear mission; to make him father-in-law to Hades. She had not only done that but she had gone a step further by birthing a potential heir for the throne. She had done more than he had asked her for so what did he want from her now? As she matched on to her quarters, she hoped with all her mind that Prince Lucian had only been teasing her. The problem was Prince Lucian did not tease you if there was no truth in what he was saying.
She entered her private quarters hoping that this once Lucian had lied to her. Unfortunately for her, she saw her father seated in her parlour sharing a drink with her son. It was weird for her because since her father had technically driven her away to this place, she had not set her eyes on him. She was certain he was aware that she had a child but she had never introduced the two.
“Father! What a pleasant surprise!” She tried to act like she was pleased but her mind was greatly troubled. She had heard how her father had made her younger sister get married to someone else the moment she was widowed. She was hoping that her case would be different and he would spare her since she had married Hades.
“Eris dear, you never told me you had such a wonderful man as your son,” said the king. He looked upon Aegan with proud eyes. Eris said nothing. She was waiting for her father to state the purpose of his visit. After all, he was not the type of man to beat about the bush.
“This fine man here is going to be the next Hades, can you imagine that?” the King of the Darkest Sea said with a throaty laugh.
“Father, why have you come?” Princess Eris was not sure why she still felt inadequate whenever she was in the presence of her father. Somehow the man managed to make her feel like she was a child again. She was determined however to put up a fight. She was a grown woman capable of making her own decisions. It did not help that her father was a very scary entity though.
“Hades is no more, you do know what that means right?” quipped the man.
“That Aegan's future is a priority. I am doing everything possible to ensure that he becomes the next Hades,” returned Princess Eris.
“That is why you will marry immediately,” the man said it like it was a fact, like his word was law and he expected no one to question it.
“You want my mother to get married again? She will become the mother to Hades. It is the highest title she can…”
“Eris, you did not teach your boy manners. When I speak…”
“I could end you. Even if I am not Hades, I could end you. You fall below me in hierarchy,” Prince Aegan's voice was dangerously low as he looked at his grandfather menacingly.
