Chapter Hundred-and-Thirty-Nine

**Emily's POV**

“Did something happen?” she asked me.

“My maid… she needs a new heart,” came my response. I did not want them to think that I was visiting the hospital for any other reason than Sandra. I knew that they were still going to follow me but once they could confirm my story there would be no need for them to do more in the hospital.

“Wow… Is that why you are so down?” she probed.

Irvette could act nervous but I knew she read people better than Nydia so I had to be careful.

“She's special to my father. He will be devastated to know she needs a new heart and it costs quite a lot too,” came my response. This was the truth but I needed her to believe it completely.

“I see. Is that why you are here?” she inquired.

“I am anticipating my father's response. He would be very angry with me. He would think I overworked her,” came my reply. This was true. I had overworked her hoping she would faint and I would need a hospital but I had not thought that she would get so sick that she would need a new heart.

“Fathers… huh,” she did not know when she muttered that. I glanced in her direction. She had really messed up for her to say that in such a listless voice.

“Your father is pissed with you too?” I asked, sipping my wine like I was just making conversation and I really wasn't interested in her answer.

“Yes…what? No, no,” she returned.

We sat side by side in silence for a while until I said, “I should go check up on my maid.”

I knew they were going to follow me but I couldn't care less.

**3rd Person POV**

Napoleon read the letter while George sat in front of him, staring at him.

“Any news?” George, who was getting bored, asked.

“It's nothing,” returned Napoleon as he tucked the letter somewhere safe. The letter was from Emily, who had just informed him that Sandra was in need of a new heart that would cost him a thousand souls.

Everyone was aware Sandra was special to him. She was the only maid that had survived his ascension to the throne. When he had ascended the throne, he had made sure to kill his father's maids. He did not want anyone who was still loyal to his father to remain alive. If he had not killed them off then it would not have been easy to declare his mother insane. More so, the nefarious acts he committed within his palace would have spread like wildfire. He did not really care if people knew what he did but he did not need his people to panic or hold protests. The less they knew about his personal life, the better for everyone.

He had not killed Sandra because she was the only one that had ever been on his side. When he was much younger, she had made sure to contribute to all his mischief against his sister. She was also ready to take the blame for things that he did and she always told him that he would become king. So she was special to him. He did not want to lose her just yet but he was not certain that she was worth a thousand souls.

“I think those girls are hiding something from me,” George said.

Napoleon looked at the werewolf with bland eyes. How stupid could he be anyway? Did he really think that they were friends? Napoleon had only one end goal; once Alpha George was able to attain the ultimate power he sought then he would eat him up and become mortal. Napoleon smiled at the thought of that happening. He would become mortal and live and rule forever.

“Why do you say so?” asked Napoleon.

“They've been quiet lately; they haven't sent me any letters. I wonder if… the twins… the twins… what if they have lost the twins?” quipped Alpha George.

“Do you trust Nydia? You really think she's done with Dagen?” Napoleon asked George.

“She is… at least she was when I told her she would be my queen in my expanded Kingdom,” George laughed as he said this.

“You're not making her queen?”

“Of course not. I will send her under very soon.”

“Is that necessary?”

“It is. Why won't you recruit the cold princess to work for our cause?” It irritated Napoleon greatly that Alpha George thought they were in this together. Besides, how dare he suggest that his daughter join hands with him? There was no world where that was going to happen.

“The cold princess has important things to do for me there,” came Napoleon's response.

“More important than what we are planning to do?” asked George.

“The cold princess is not going to be a part of this,” Napoleon’s voice was firm when he said this.

“What if she is already? What if she's working for the other side?” Napoleon was starting to get really angry at George but he did his best to maintain his cool.

“Is there something you know that I don't?” Napoleon's voice was devoid of any anger but if George had been going around watching his daughter, he was going to tear the man into pieces this very moment. It was not that he felt anything for his daughter after all, he had killed a great deal of his children in cold blood but Emily was his and he did not want anyone playing around with what belonged to him.

“Of course not. I should ask Irvette about the twins,” returned George.

He was about to write a letter when a bird landed on his shoulder with a letter lodged in its beak. George pulled it out and when he was done, he looked at Napoleon with a horrified expression.

“What?” asked Napoleon, he hated that George was keeping him in suspense with the look on his face.

“The twins have been kidnapped.”
