Chapter Hundred-and-Thirty-Six

**Emily's POV**

She was literally covered from head to toe with the only thing visible being her eyes. It was another reason I had invited the other lady yesterday for drinks, I wanted to see more than her eye.

“Uh, well… uhm,” it was obvious she had not thought of this.

“I'm really sorry, I shouldn't have invited you for drinks… Your covering, is it uhm… a religious obligation or uhm… you're trying to avoid someone?” I asked her in a whisper like I genuinely cared.

“No, no, uhm… Let's do this another time, okay? I uhm… I should go. I'll be here tomorrow if that's no trouble,” she said and I nodded, watching her leave the bar.

I continued sipping my drink; I could feel the other person staring at me. The lady that had shot the gun had followed me into the bar.

I continued drinking and making small talk with the bartender until she left.

When I returned to my apartment much later I found Sandra at the door waiting for me.

“Is that alcohol I smell on your breath?” she demanded. I eyed her surreptitiously. She had no business talking to me like that. The farther we were from home, the more her tone had changed. She had begun talking to me as though she had authority over me. I did not care what her arrangements were with my father but I was a princess and she had to respect that.

“No, my lady? Princess? Your Royal Highness?”

“I… Princess… I was just worry about…”

“I do not need your worry, okay? I'm a fucking adult and I can take bloody care of myself. You are my bloody servant and not my bloody mother so you do not command me or reprimand me, I give the bloody orders, understood?” I shouted at Sandra. She looked at me in mild shock but I could see it in her eyes that she believed I was under the influence. I did not care what she believed, I just wanted her to stop treating me like I was her child or I was below her.

“Yes, Princess.”

**Irvette’s POV**

“I was still standing very close to her. Were you trying to bloody kill me?” I demanded from Nydia the moment she walked into the apartment we shared.

“Don't be such a pussy and you were supposed to keep her in the bar long enough to draw the attention of the others,” she said in response.

“I am not a pussy, you cunt and there are no others. If Captain Thoma was really her lover he would have shadowed her today,” came my reply. The idea had been that the gunshot would have scared the others the cold princess was working for into action. However, she really was alone like my father had said she would be.

“There are others, I am sure. When you return to the bar tomorrow, I'll shoot at her head. That should do the trick,” returned Nydia.

“You really are crazy, aren't you? She's King Napoleon's daughter. He would bloody kill you if you touched his daughter.”

“If he cares so much about his princess, why did he send her here? Huh?” scoffed Nydia.

“She is called the cold princess for a reason. She's been to the underworld so many times, it is practically her home. Nothing scares her,” came my reply.

“And you really believe she's only here to run her father's errands?” quipped Nydia.

“That is what King Napoleon told my father she is doing and we have confirmed that to be true so please, can you just drop it?”

“I am going to check on the twins,” returned Nydia.

Minutes later, she was calling my name frantically from below where we kept the twins hostage. I rolled my eyes and went below to meet her.

“What is it?” I asked. If she had brought me down here it had better be for a good reason.

“Look,” she said pointing in the direction the twins were held up. I saw nothing… Then it struck me, the twins were no longer here.

“You were meant to check them in the morning, did you not tie them well?” I asked, fear pervading my entire body.

“You're bloody blaming this on me? I tied them, I locked them and when I descended below board, I met the trap door still locked. I had to open it myself,” she screamed at me.

“You're saying they did not run away?” I quipped with a trembling voice. If they had managed to run away that would be a lot better because they did not know their way and they could not have gone far.

The alternative would be that someone stole them from here.

We looked at each other in horror. How were we going to report to my father that someone had stolen the twins from us? We were in serious trouble.

“What do we do? Do we tell him?” Nydia asked. I had never seen her scared before now but her voice was trembling as she spoke and so were her fingers.

“Tell him? Are you an idiot? He will kill us and I do not mean that metaphorically,” came my panicked response.

“Do you have a better idea then?” she asked me.

“We look for them and find them and we will never speak of them ever getting missing in the first place,” I said to her.

“Look for them? Where? They could literally be in any fucking place? Where would we start the bloody search?” Nydia demanded. She did have a point but I had an idea where to begin our search.

“Maybe you're right. Maybe there are others and while they distracted us with the princess, they came here and stole the twins. We just have to steal the twins back,” I said.

“Really? Now you believe in that fucking theory? How the hell are we supposed to find the others that you speak of?” Nydia was losing it and so was I.
