Chapter Three-Hundred-and-Twenty-Two
3rd Person POV
“Can you all leave my room?” shouted Emily.

“You still haven't told us why we had to leave in such a hurry,” it was hours after their awkward landing in Emily’s room.
Irvette and Dagen were still waiting for an explanation for what had happened but Regina had remained tight-lipped. She could not tell them about Nydia. She had not sworn an oath of secrecy but there were certain things she could not say.
“Dagen, you have to tell Charlie to return here. I need to go somewhere,” was all Regina could say.
“Gina? Where do you go all the time?”
“Please, you just have to trust me, I will fix this.”

It was the first court session Charlotte would be preceding over without her aunt or mother. The ministers were not comfortable with her doing this. They had proposed that one of them did it instead but Regina had overruled them.
“There will be elections across the pack,” announced Charlotte.
“Elections? What kind of word is that?” asked one of the older ministers.
“That question tells me that your education is very limited, Lord Plato,” replied Charlotte.
This was her plan. She had realised that it was too exhausting to decide on every matter within the pack. Unfortunately, one could not allow the ministers to decide on certain matters by themselves. One of the reasons was that their knowledge was very limited on several matters.
“It means that the people will choose who to represent them,” said Charlotte.
“That is absurd!” cried one of the ministers and the others hummed their disagreement.
“Because it will take away the power you have? Because you will lose control?” asked Charlotte.
“Then they must also vote for their Alphas,” said one of the ministers.
“The Alpha is decided by the goddess and is a privilege of birth. However, the position of Queen and King might be open for an election,” said Charlotte. She knew that her aunt would kill her after this but what choice did she have? She had discussed her idea with her friends many times and both of them had agreed that as wild as the idea was, it was a way forward for a better society. At the very least it would limit the power of autocratic wicked leaders so that someone as evil as George would never be able to rise up and oppress people again.
Some of the greedy ministers looked among themselves. If this was going to give them a chance to be closer to the throne then perhaps it was not such a bad idea.
“The elected positions will not be open to the noble class,” Charlotte enjoyed watching the faces of the ministers turn into frowns. They did not fail to hide their displeasure and Charlotte did not fail to hide her happiness at seeing their scowl.
“You are going to destroy the order of things!” shouted one of the noble ministers.
“I believe the order of things does not permit you to raise your voice at me,” Charlotte's voice was dangerously calm.
“Any other objections?” asked Charlotte when no one else spoke.
“There will be no difference between noblemen and the common people, Your Highness, I strongly recommend that you reconsider,” said one of the ministers in a soft tone.
“Thank you, Lord Arthur but I will not reconsider. Might I add that this was the order of business a very long time ago?”
“And it failed for a reason.”
“It failed because some certain persons refused to give up power. It is why I am going to modernise that failed system so it does not fail again,” Charlotte's eyes twinkled as she spoke.
“Moving on, I am set to create certain institutions dedicated to training people in certain fields. I have realised that education seems to be a privilege accessible only to the ruling class, and that is going to change.”

“You put a gun to your head, that is what you did!” Emily wished she could do as the physician had bid her but her niece was the biggest disaster to have happened in the throne room.
“I don't care. They can come at me with whatever they have, I will…”
“Charlie! Things do not work that way. You cannot change the entire system overnight.”
“I never said it was going to be done overnight. It will be done over a couple of months. That said, I need to create a timeline…”
“Charlie! Enough! All you had to do was…”
“No, Aunt Em. This is what I intend to do. If you do not let it happen then I will do it after you’re no longer here but I will get it done someday.”
“They will not allow it to happen. They will kill you and it will not just be them. If you start this, the other packs will do everything to see you fail. They will join forces to oust you from power. Hell, your plan may end up backfiring,” retorted Emily. She understood that her niece meant well but she also knew the power-hungry people that she was dealing with. She also knew that they would do anything to stop her.

Emily had been right.
Lord Plato who had challenged Charlotte in court had gathered the noble lords in his home to discuss the earlier event at court.
“What is all this about?” asked one of them. It was a very strange type of meeting and one that could likened to a treason plot.
“We have to discuss what happened today, we cannot allow the princess’ plan to go through,” replied Lord Plato.
“You do know that such an assembly as this one is illegal,” one of the ministers said. It was Lord Bruno, he was not very comfortable with this meeting.
“What the princess intends to do is illegal. It should never have made its way to the throne room,” replied Lord Plato.
“The Princess has good intentions,” one of the ministers said.
