Chapter Hundred-And-Eighty

**3rd Person POV**

“You will give her to Prince Lucian, Prince Lucian?” a rush of pride filled Prince Aegan and he leapt out in fury at Prince Lucian who had just appeared in their midst.

“Prince Aegan, your behaviour is unbecoming and not fit for one who will rule Hades,” one of the horns of hell spoke. Regina was surprised that they upheld any code of ethics at all.

“You are meant to destroy her soul,” spat Prince Aegan. That was the impression they had given him when they had asked him to bring Regina's soul. It felt like he had gone through a lot of trouble for nothing. It was clear that they were biased and wanted the throne to go to Lucian. However, he was the son of his mother and he was not going to give up without a fight.

“You do not give us orders,” came the response.

“I do not? You are being unfair. Perisphone's soul should be destroyed for this to be fair,” spat Prince Aegan.

“I will take her away now,” came Prince Lucian's response. He walked towards Regina and began to undo the rope that kept her from moving.

“This is not over; I will destroy every single thing that holds meaning to you,” spat Prince Aegan.

Prince Lucian made it his priority to watch Regina closely even at the expense of making his friend furious. Dagen felt quite useless. It was like he was achieving nothing here. Regina was clearly not interested in getting back together with him and while she had agreed to work with him to find their children, he feared that she was withholding information from him. He was in a pretty difficult spot.

His frustration made him leave his friend's quarters to take a walk in the palace where he thought he saw someone who looked very much like Nydia. He saw her enter a room and he followed her. He found himself in a long corridor. He kept walking hoping to catch a glimpse of her but it seemed like he had failed to do so.

In his frustration, he turned to retrace his steps but was stopped by someone blocking his path. It was none other than George.

“Miss me?” George had a disturbing smile on his face. Dagen looked around him; he understood what was happening. He had been set up. There was nobody around to save him. If he was back on earth he would not be scared at all. But this was the underworld where creatures harnessed strange magical powers for which he was no match for.

“What do you want?” asked Dagen. He had no intention of giving in to George but he could play long enough to get himself out of this mess.

“Regina. I will give you your twins in exchange for Regina. You can save your throne…”

“The problem with that is if I give you Regina I will have no need for my throne because you will annihilate it,” came Dagen's response. He was studying George while he said this, looking for something he could use to outsmart him. He wondered how far George's powers went here in the underworld.

“I will make you a partner in the new world,” said George. He sounded pretty convincing but Dagen did not believe a single word he was saying. He knew George very well and there was nothing truthful about that man. However, at a time like this, he had to indulge the man.

“A partner huh? Why would I want to be your partner? I know what you are trying to achieve George and it is not pretty,” returned Dagen. If he gave in too easily, it would be suspicious.

“I will start with Charlotte. She has very pretty hair. Perhaps, I have taken a personal interest in her?” there was a clear threat in George's voice. Dagen smiled a little. He had just discovered that George did not have his twins. If he did, he would have taken his threats straight to Regina and not him. Dagen however was concerned about the whereabouts of his children. Did the hybrid clan have them?

“You don't have them, do you?” Dagen scoffed. He just could not resist doing that now that he knew that George had no teeth. Without the children, it meant that he had no leverage.

“Are you willing to take that risk?” questioned George. The man was lying through his teeth and it was all too clear to Dagen.

“As a matter of fact, I am. Knowing that my children are out of your grasp, I am willing to take that risk,” said Dagen.

“If they are not with me, they are with someone who is potentially more dangerous…”

“I will take my chances with that someone.”

“Well, I believe you have nothing further to do here in the underworld. You should return home and begin the search for your twins,” George's voice was marked with sarcasm.

Dagen remained still, he knew something was coming. There was no way George was going to walk away with nothing. Then just like he predicted, he saw George pull out a spear but Dagen was already prepared, he dodged the spear easily so that the spear was lodged in the wall.

Dagen noticed something else; George's powers seemed to be limited here and it appeared that he had lost strength since the last time they had seen each other. Dagen was able to note that something was wrong and that could only mean that things were going well back home.

Dagen found that he was much stronger than George and when George could not handle the blows anymore, he simply disappeared.

Dagen looked around to make sure George was not lying in wait to surprise him with a death blow. When he was sure he was safe, he began retracing his steps. Along the way, he saw Lucian walking rapidly in his direction with a troubled look on his face. He needed no one to tell him that something was wrong.

“What is it?”

“Regina is missing.”
