Chapter Three-Hundred-and-Thirty-Nine

3rd Person POV

Euphrates was convinced that Carlos' plan would go smoothly. She was unaware of the fact that Carlos was a fraud and really who she had been dealing with was Princess Eris who desperately wanted to attain power by all means. Therefore Euphrates was confident that nothing could go wrong. Just like in the past when she had been Nydia and had believed George wholeheartedly, she believed Carlos.

So when Aurora walked in on her tying up Caephas' body with a magic string that could only be gotten from the black market, she was not in a haste to cover her tracks.

Aurora had noticed the foul current around Mount Shasta and had come to ask the queen about it but what she saw shook her to her very bones.

“You are tying up Lord Caephas?” her tone bore only pure shock.

Euphrates' eyes glowed with evil as she pointed a finger directly at Aurora. With that, she lifted her high and then dropped her on the ground. Aurora felt like her body had been broken into a thousand pieces. Regardless, she stood up and with a cry for help, she summoned the Fae army.

But no one came.

With a horrified expression, it dawned on her that Queen Euphrates had taken care of the Fae army. She did not want to think of what that actually meant but it was scary regardless.

“You think I wouldn't find out? When I banished Caephas you refused to support my decision so the ban was pretty much useless,” said Euphrates. She was thoroughly enjoying the fear on Aurora's face. It brought her pure undeniable joy.

“You cannot do this, your actions have grave consequences!” exclaimed Aurora.

“Do they? I guess I will find out soon enough but in the meantime I shall enjoy watching you suffer,” said Euphrates with a mischievous grin on her face.

Aurora discovered that she could no longer move her body. She had lost control over her body and Euphrates was having the time of her life tossing her about the room.

“Stop it! Just stop!” screamed Aurora who was reeling out of dizziness and still could not pass out.

“Say please,” said Euphrates whilst laughing hard.

“Please, you win. Just make it stop!” begged Aurora.

Euphrates did not stop, she was enjoying Aurora's misery too much to stop so she continued. Unbeknownst to Euphrates, Caephas had just opened his eyes. He motioned with his eyes for Aurora to keep Euphrates engaged.

Then in one swift second the strings that Euphrates had used to tie him burnt.

Euphrates had heard the sizzling sound and had turned to check on what was happening. She was not pleased to see Caephas on his feet.

Meanwhile, Aurora crashed on the ground in relief. Euphrates’ attention had shifted. Her eyes were full of fury and fear as she beheld Caephas’ eyes which were flooded with light only. His eyes were laser-beamed on Euphrates. She reciprocated the gesture too but nothing would happen. She had exhausted the power given to her by Carlos to operate without Aurora. She could not believe that just like George had abandoned her, he was doing it all over again.

“Tie her,” commanded Caephas.

Aurora wanted to obey Caephas' instructions but she was still very dizzy. Caephas understood this so he did the job himself.

“You were given a second chance and you screwed it up, there will be no third chance for you.”

With that, Caephas disappeared.

Meanwhile, on Earth, a thick dark cloud covered the sky. It was day but it was full of great darkness. There was no light anywhere and no one could explain what was happening.

It will be dark for many days while Mount Shasta and the Sky battle on.

But Eris had not gotten this far only to fail now. She shut her eyes and summoned all the dark creatures of the lower sky that she had won over to her side, she summoned the elders also that she had bribed and every creature in the sky that had powers that she had brought to her side. She was mounting a full-fledged war against Caephas for the throne.

After her son had lost to Lucian for the throne of Hades, she had consumed him in her anger and the power she had felt within her had given her a sort of high and calm that she had never experienced before. She had continued in that fashion of consuming souls and the more souls she consumed, the more powerful she got. Then one day, George made his way to hell. He had barely escaped death and was looking for a way out of his mess. He had told her that while he had been running for his life, he had thought of a good plan to take the throne of the sky.

She had listened to all that he had to say and afterwards consumed his soul too. It was then she had harnessed her shape-shifting abilities. In order for her plan to be successful she would have to deceive many people.

Now she stood with her army against Hades and Regina with a proud smile on her face. They had underestimated her and they were going to pay.

When Caephas got to the sky, it was chaos. There was a serious ear raging on. He could not believe that he had left home in search of love only to return home to meet with war. However, he was charged with power and this was his territory where no one messed with him. He was going to show them all who ran this place.

The major war took place in his throne room as Eris tried repeatedly to sit on his throne. In the midst of all the confusion, Caephas walked straight to the throne. However, Eris who was just inches away from it pushed him back with her powers.

It was the greatest battle for the sky throne in ages.
