Chapter Three-Hundred-and-Forty

3rd Person POV

It had taken an entire week before Princess Eris ran out of energy. She had fought till the very end and even when she had been captured she had protesters wildly to being taken away. Meanwhile, Euphrates had been taken away too and the both of them were now in hell and in very different cells. Regina had advised that they be kept apart since no one could predict the plans they could come up with if together.

They were also going to face their trials separately although it was clear what their punishments would be. When Eris was asked why she had done what she did she requested Hades to be specific.

“You committed treason against the Lord of the Sky,” he replied to her. She batted her eyes at Hades in an attempt to seduce him. Hades was not moved, he could not believe that she would resort to this—it was pathetic.

“You say I committed treason but is that really what I did?” she said when her eyes failed to express the desire she had for Hades.

“Do you have another word to describe the crime you committed?” demanded Hades growing frustrated with Princess Eris. She was very manipulative and he knew she was only prolonging her sentencing so that she could buy time. Hades wondered what she needed more time for—someone to save her? Her father who might have saved her had disowned her when she had failed to make Aegan, her son Hades and she and her most powerful lover, Time have parted ways. There was no way she was going to seduce him so what else was she hoping would happen?

“That is the problem, you keep referring to my actions as criminal when they really are not,” said Eris. Her tone was persuasive but Hades was not buying it. He had been there throughout the entire war in the Sky. She had given Caephas hell and would have almost ceased the throne for herself.

“So how would you describe what you did as?” Hades asked her. He knew this was going to take a very long time. Eris was very smart, she knew that as long as she did not admit to wrongdoing, Hades could not condemn her to her punishment.

“It was merely a challenge. Caephas and his family have been ruling for thousands of years. I knew it was time for a change,” she had the tone of an activist but Hades knew it was all a lie.

“The challenge as you put it is a crime, do you admit to it?”

“If trying to make things better in our world is a crime, then I am guilty,” said Eris, managing to drop a tear for pity's sake.

“We both know how this is going to end. If I am unable to get your confession then I will have no option than to take your case to the horns of hell. Those gnomes do not need your confession to condemn you to your punishment so stop stalling,” Hades told her and hoped she would listen to reason. There was simply no way out of the mess she was in. The sooner she realised that, the better for everyone.

And the horns of hell were the worst. The only thing Lucian detested as Hades was the occasional meetings with them. They were diminutive creatures that really had the power in hell. They are mythical creatures to those who have never met with them before.

“Honestly, I think I'm wasting my time talking to you, we are not making any progress,” said Eris in a matter-of-fact tone.

Hades wanted badly to punch something. She had guts—they were making no progress because she refused to admit her crime.

“I agree with you, you should start talking so we can wrap this up,” replied Hades.

“You know what you should start doing? You should start listening to what I'm saying. Maybe then, you'll be able to understand that you are persecuting the wrong person,” said Eris.

Hades groaned in frustration. This was really pointless. He would have to leave her for the horns of hell to define her fate.

“Who should I be persecuting then?” asked Hades.

“Regina, the girl with Perisphone's soul. She has no fucking business… we're at trial, I will watch my language. But honestly, what is that girl's deal?” Hades knew that she had mentioned Regina simply to aggravate him.

“She is not responsible for your crimes,” Hades said but he did not think there was a point in saying anything.

“Well let me explain this to you then, what right does she have to…”

“Eris, I need you to talk to me about your actions, tell me what you did. That is all I ask of you,” replied Hades.

“Then give me your word that there'll be no consequence for what I say,” her tone was serious and so was her facial expression. She wanted a deal but Hades was not willing to give her one.

“There will be great consequences for your actions,” Hades said to her in an equally serious tone.

“Then I am willing to say nothing,” replied Eris with a nonchalant shrug.

Just then, a messenger walked in and whispered something in Hades’ ear.

“There is someone here who wants to see you,” said Hades.

“My father? Tell him it's too late for him to be my father. He disowned me, has he no memory?” Eris’ tone was full of bitterness and anger. After her father had disowned her she was full of so much anger that she had consumed her own son. She had vowed to become more powerful than him and then make him suffer for forsaking her. Instead, her plan had backfired.

“It is not your father,” said Hades, he saw her face fall in disappointment.

Hades signalled to the messenger to send the person in and in came the King of Time. Eris was surprised to see him.
