Chapter Hundred-and-Forty-One
**Dagen's POV**
“I learnt the cold princess is returning home,” said Lord Edvin. We were having one of our meetings like we had been doing this month. We had meetings almost every day because of the situation. As of now, all the packs were aware that Alpha George wanted to take over the entire werewolf clan and we were all preparing accordingly.
I was also preparing to go under. There were two ways to do that. The way Regina had in which she had travelled to the underworld and then she had gotten under through a readily available portal designed to recruit workers into the underworld.
However, I did not have that time. And as an Alpha, I could create a portal to access the ‘under’ of the underworld. But it took time to do that. Several things had to go into creating the portal and it took time to do so. The good thing though about having a personal portal was that one could use the portal to return at any time.
“Perhaps, she will be willing to cooperate with us,” came my response.
“Perhaps, I learnt that she had a good relationship with Regina while she was there,” returned Lord Edvin.
“The problem is that one cannot trust the information from there,” said Elder Walker.
“They are too private with their affairs,” commented Elder Thaddeus.
“How was the visit to the Blood Moon pack? How is Harlin?” asked Elder Davis looking at me for an answer. I had been to the Blood Moon pack earlier in the week to check up on the progress of the pack.
“Harlin is doing pretty well but Alpha George has been away for so long now that I believe it is time we appoint a new Alpha in that pack,” that was my honest submission.
At least, we were aware that Alpha George was guilty beyond doubt for all the nefarious activities that happened in the pack. Of course, that was hardly a basis for dethroning him but he had run away from punishment which meant that his throne was empty and ready to be occupied.
“You are right Alpha Dagen but who do we appoint as Alpha? Alpha George was very thorough. He killed all his extended family so now there is no one in the Royal lineage except his children that are still alive and we can agree that we can not put any of them on the throne,” replied Elder Thaddeus.
“It is a sad thing what happened there. For an entire nation to be hypnotised for years on end,” Elder Davis said, shaking his head.
“Indeed, it is. Are you still close to anyone in Hades' palace?” asked Elder Walker.
“The Fae queen was friends with my parents. I am hoping that friendship will extend to me,” was my response.
“That reminds me. I received intelligence that the underworld is going through some political upheaval. It appears that the two senior princes are at each other's throats.”
“They always have been and you cannot trust anything they tell you from there.”
**3rd Person POV**
The sad truth was Harlin was miserable. He had gone to check his father's grave after the Elders had told him about his father's note. He had not believed at first that Alpha George was capable of such evil. He would never have pegged Alpha George for something so evil. Had the man really taken his father to be buried in the underworld just for some magical power? However, since Alpha George had left the pack a lot of things became clearer to Harlin.
For instance, he began to recall certain things he had forgotten. He remembered for instance that Rowan was the crown prince. He remembered that when he had been a lot younger, he had met with Rowan and the Impression which the man had given him was very nice to him. When he had been a lot younger, his father would take him to the palace and Rowan was ever ready to show him cool things.
He also remembered a younger George who had been the last born and was always such a bitter kid. George had never gotten along with anybody and he had refused to be friends with anyone. How did it happen then that he had believed for a long time that Rowan never existed and that George was the rightful heir to the throne? It was like huge chunks of his memory had been wiped off.
“The Council of Elders has presented me with a huge task. I have to find someone that they can crown Alpha of the pack,” Harlin was saying to the Elders of the pack. The request had come in the previous day and he was very happy about it. He liked being Beta but he was not cut out to be anything more. He did not like being responsible for so many people. It was not like he was doing an entirely bad job, it was just that he was always afraid that he would make the wrong decisions for the pack.
“It is about time. Even if George should return now there is no Kingdom for him to rule. He has betrayed us all,” it was Elder Gregory who spoke.
“To think that he drugged our minds all this time,” said Elder Moses.
“Noble men, let us concentrate on the matter at hand,” Harlin said, trying to bring the focus back to the issue he had raised.
“Of course, Beta. Although, it is a difficult task you have raised. George was very thorough; he killed everyone that could lay claim to the throne. He killed his own sons,” Elder Moses said.
“Such a wicked selfish man. What do we do now?” asked Elder Gregory.
“You have been doing a remarkable job, Lord Harlin. Perhaps, you should be crowned Alpha?” asked Elder Moses, looking at Harlin.
