Chapter Three-Hundred-and-Forty-Seven

Regina's POV

Everything had to be perfect.

The first time I had got married, it had been a rushed affair—Dagen had marked me as his Luna and had made it very clear that he had no interest in the marriage. The only reason he had bothered with the ceremony was because the Council of Elders had made him do so.

This time, I took my time to plan the wedding of my dreams. I would have loved it to be an intimate ceremony but I knew too many people from my many travels to have that luxury. Regardless, it was going to be filled up with only those who held meaning to my life and Dagen's life. If I had my way though, I would trim Dagen's list. I would not allow any of his snobbish friends especially Alpha Raphael into the wedding.

“I think this dress is missing something,” remarked Emily when I stepped out of the dressing room. I was trying on dresses for the wedding and I had yet to find my dream dress. Everything else was ready but I still did not have the dress I needed to wear and the wedding was in three days.

“Mum, why don't I choose for you? You chose my wedding dress and it was perfect,” suggested Charlotte.

I loved my daughter dearly but she was the last person I would go to if I wanted to choose a dress. She knew more about a warrior's gear than she did about dresses. Charlotte’s rule for wearing a dress was that there had to be room for her knife and spear. I wanted to look beautiful and not battle-ready.

“Sweetheart, that is not happening,” it was Emily who rejected her offer on my behalf.

“What? I can choose stuff!” protested Charlotte who sounded a little offended that we would not consider her offer even a little bit.

“The fact that you call it stuff is telling enough,” replied Irvette.

“Why am I even here if you don't value my opinion, huh?” whined Charlotte.

“You're here to give your mother emotional support, I can't believe this child!” said Emily, shaking her head a little.

“Emotional support? To choose a dress?” there were just some things that my dearest daughter could never understand and I did not blame her.

I knew that she had chosen the warrior's path because of her experience when she had been abducted. I knew that for months after returning home she had blamed herself for what had happened. She had told me when she had turned eight that she would never be defenceless again; whoever tried to harm her brother would have to go through her sword first.

“I know how you can find the perfect dress!” squealed Irvette.

“How?”

“Ask the Fae Queen to help you. It'll only take a minute,” suggested Irvette.

It was not a bad idea but I did not want to burden Aurora with my problems. Besides, I knew that her coronation was tomorrow and she would be busy with tons of things.

“I don't know, it's rather last minute,” I said.

“I’m sure Aurora will be delighted to help you,” said Irvette.

I thought about it for a second. I was going to attend her coronation the next day.

After thousands of years of the Faes going outside of their kind to find a queen, they had decided for the first time in a very long time that they needed no outside help. What Euphrates had done to them had really shaken them to their core and so they had unanimously made Aurora their queen. I was honoured that I would witness the historical feet tomorrow. If I got lucky I would ask Aurora for a dress but for now, I had to find something that was near perfect even if I couldn't get a perfect dress.

On my way home (Dagen's palace), I realised that the streets were lit up with lights and there were petals spread on the floor. I looked to my right and asked Charlotte if there was a special festival tonight. I was not familiar anymore with the festivities of the people here. She told me she was not aware of any.

When we reached the palace gates, she excused herself from the carriage along with Harriet. They gave some silly excuse about some jewellery store they wanted to check out. I knew that the only thing Charlotte cared about besides her sword was jewellery. Her love for jewellery surprised me and pleased me at the same time. In fact, her jewellery was the only thing she had cared about when planning her wedding.

I continued in the carriage alone and since it was a rather beautiful night, I gazed out of the window and admired the beauty of the world.

The carriage entered Dagen's palace and then stopped just as it entered inside.

“I'm afraid you have to get down here, my lady. I will tell a guard to bring a horse around for you to…” the carriage driver was saying but I interrupted him with, “It's alright. I'll walk the rest of the way.”

“My Lady, I insist,” said the coachman.

I decided not to protest. After all, I was a bit tired from all the dresses I had tried on today.

The horse provided for me was Thunder.

I exclaimed in surprise when I saw her. I knew Dagen had gifted Charlotte the horse so I was a bit surprised to see it here.

As we rode deeper into the palace, I did not miss the lights that made the whole place glow and the petals that littered the floor.

When I was at the entrance of the palace itself (the building), Reginald was waiting at the entrance. He had an anxious look on his face that made me worried.

He helped me dismount the horse and told me with urgency that there was something going on in the throne room.
