Chapter Three-Hundred-and-Twenty-Nine
3rd Person POV
The physician came with a midwife. He had not expected the baby to come this soon but Emily had not dutifully obeyed his instructions so it was not too surprising that her baby was in a hurry to leave her body.
“Somebody make it stop! Make the damn pain go away and where is Thoma? Thoma, I swear I will kill you…” Charlotte watched her aunt break off to utter some more profanities at her husband.
She was now convinced that childbirth was the most painful thing ever and she was not going to ever go through such pain. She stepped out of the room to allow the midwife to do her job. She saw Kristoff standing outside.
“I'm never doing that,” said Charlotte referring to her screaming aunty.
“Me too, I cannot bear to watch you in such pain,” came Kristoff's response.
“I'm glad we're on the same page.”
“I'm sorry I did not tell them as planned.”
“It's okay. I wanted to ask your father for your hand myself, I'm glad I got to do that. You should have seen the surprise on his face,” said Kristoff as he recalled the memory.
“I can imagine it,” said Charlotte with a laugh.
There was a lot of screaming and cursing especially once Thoma had entered the study. Then there was quiet and the shrill cry of a baby.
“It's the most beautiful sound in the world,” remarked Charlotte. It was as though the screams and pain had never happened.
“We're definitely having a baby!” added Kristoff.
In the history of the Dark Moon pack, Isabella Emily Thomas was the first baby to be born in the palace’ study.

She had been caught with bloodied meat soiling her fingers and her face. She had been dragged to a dark cell where she met the voice with nobody. Then she had been dragged to a big fire where her enemies had watched as the flames licked her body.
Then she had screamed “Aurora.”
Queen Euphrates woke up drenched in her own sweat. It had been a dream but it had felt too real. She could still see the faces of those who had watched her burn. She could see Regina's face, her lips curling up into a smile as the flames consumed her.
Queen Euphrates shook her head. It could not be but if it wasn't how had she come to be? What had life been before she was Fae Queen?
She stood up from her bed and decided to take a stroll around her little castle. As the night breeze touched her face, she felt worse. She could not fight off the feeling of anxiety that she felt. She felt like she had been used like she was a pawn in a big scheme. It felt like she had no control and she did not like it.
As she continued to stroll under the stars she felt a rush of cold wind pass by her. It made her shiver and her teeth began to chatter which was strange because she was a Fae Queen; she did not get cold, and she was supposed to be immune to things like that. The only plausible explanation then was that another magical being greater than her was within close distance of her and was making a fool of her.
“Show yourself!” she screamed into the night but her response was another gush of icy air.
She balled her fingers into a ball and when she released them there were icicles all about her. She did not know who this magic force was but she was not going to be outwitted in her own territory. With anger cladding through her veins she wanted to summon more magic but a voice stopped her.
“I was only trying to make your acquaintance. There's no need for the fit of anger,” she turned around but saw no one still.
“If you don't show yourself I will destroy you,” said Euphrates in a firm tone. This was her territory and she would do whatever it took to protect it from invaders. That was her entire purpose as the Fae Queen.
“You cannot destroy me but I will humour you,” right in front of her stood Lord Caephas or so she thought. The resemblance was uncanny but after a few minutes, it was clear that it wasn't him.
“I was not aware Lord Caephas had a brother,” remarked Euphrates, regaining her poise. She was the Fae Queen and it was given that she was beautiful irrespective of what she had on or if she had just woken. She was not susceptible to things like a bad hair day or dark circles yet this man made her feel self-conscious of how she looked.
“My brother would rather no one knows about his twin,” replied the man. For someone related to the Lord of the Sky there was something eerie and dark about him but Queen Euphrates found him appealing.
“It is obvious why he would hide you. You're the better-looking twin,” Euphrates could not believe it herself that she was flirting with this strange exotic man.
“You are an honest woman,” he replied with a smile that any other person but Euphrates would have found chilling.
“You made quite the appearance, what brings you to Mount Shasta?” even though she knew that this man could be up to no good her defences were down.
“I understand you are having a hard time grappling with your present reality,” he said.
“I do not understand what you speak of.”
“Nydia?” Euphrates' face reddened. She had heard that name in her dream. Everytime she had laid her head down, she had heard that name.
“I will advice that you leave Mount Shasta and visit at a more appropriate time,” she may have found him appealing but she was not entirely stupid.
“Tell me, Nydia, was it appropriate for them to have you burnt?”
