Chapter Three-Hundred-and-Two

3rd Person POV

“What are you talking about? You think I invite you two to talk about mundane things?” retorted Dagen.

“A ball for your son? Yes, I do,” came Tyler's response.

“No, Tyler. That is quite important. A lot is at stake,” defended Edvin to which Tyler shook his head.

“We are going to discuss the zombie situation,” said Dagen quickly.

“We spoke about it at court this morning and we reached the conclusion that we will tighten security at our borders since we've not had any sightings or breakouts within the pack,” Tyler said in a bored tone.

“What happens if they manage to invade us, huh? What do we do then?” quipped Dagen.

“We'll implement a lockdown and comb the street for them.

“Anything else?” quipped Tyler.

“I'm not lonely,” insisted Alpha Dagen.

“If you say so,” said Tyler.

“What about Queen Euphrates? Huh? Maybe you two could…”

“She will end up with Hades or some near immortal like that, Dagen can only dream,” said Lord Tyler.

“Enough you two!”

Queen Euphrates watched as her first ball filled up with the Alpha's and Beta's she had invited. She was glad to find that all of them were present. She however was displeased to see that Regina was in their midst. She had also invited Hades and the Lord of the Skies, Caelus to the ball. She had not expected the both of them to show up but they had graced her ball.

She had not been expecting Caelus at all because his father had chased the Faes out of the sky a long time ago. It was why the Faes had been condemned to hell for a while. It was not until the leadership of the former queen that there was hope that they could at the very least find a place to stay on earth.

She was glad to see that Caelus was present and even happier to know that he was single. She had her sight on him but it seemed like someone wanted the same thing she did because she saw Regina walk to him and start a conversation with him.

At once, she took off in the same direction but before she could get there she hit something or rather someone. When she looked up, she saw Alpha Dagen.

“Alpha Dagen, I am pleased that you have graced us with your presence,” said Queen Euphrates with a smile. Dagen smiled at the beautiful fairy, he felt an instant attraction to her. He shook it off immediately; he knew that he could not entertain such thoughts about the Fae Queen.

“It is an honour to be invited to your ball,” came his response.

Queen Euphrates stopped for a while and studied his face. For some reason she could not explain she felt a pull towards this man. It was uncanny given that she ought not to feel such things.

“Indeed, please enjoy yourself while you're here. I hope to make better acquaintances with you,” she smiled. She had forgotten momentarily about Caelus until a voice said behind them, “Dagen! I was certain I would find you here!

“Caelus! It's been too long!” cried Dagen upon seeing a childhood friend. The two of them hugged each other.

Euphrates and Regina were both surprised to witness this exchange of emotions.

Regina wondered if there was any entity of great importance that Dagen did not know.

“Way too long! We should try to see more often,” remarked Caelus.

“We should,” cried Dagen and the two hugged once more.

“Queen Euphrates, I must commend you. This is a lovely ball,” commented Regina.

“Well, it is only possible with the help of Aurora, she's been very helpful,” said Queen Euphrates. She was trying to be pleasant because she was in the presence of Caelus.

“You did try,” Caelus looked about. He was not the type to be easily impressed.

“Queen Euphrates has done a lot, especially trying to build this place and she is also looking for a solution to cure Irvette's mind, did you know that Dagen?” Queen Euphrates’ eyes brimmed with fire. She could not believe that Regina had tried to be sneaky with her.

“Really? That is great news! I was beginning to wonder where you went in search of a cure,” said Dagen. Now, the choice was out of her hands as Dagen and Caelus looked at her expectantly.

“Indeed, I have been working on something and Irvette’s mind should be restored by the time you return home,” said Queen Euphrates.

“If you can't do it, I wouldn't mind helping. It seems this Irvette fellow is important to you, Dagen,” remarked Caelus.

“She is the mother of my children's best friend and cousin,” explained Dagen.

“Well, a friend of yours is a friend of mine,” said Caelus.

“Am I missing something?” Hades (formerly Lucian) joined them.

“I do not think I have seen you after you became Hades,” said Dagen cheerfully, happy to see another friend.

“Don't come near me, light and darkness do not mix,” Caelus said, moving away from Hades.

The three men laughed and then hugged. It was a queer sort of friendship the three had. Dagen had got to know both of them when he was only a child but they had all been great friends until Caelus' father and the former ruler of hell had fought with the former Lord of the Sky.

“We should meet up even if it's once in a year or something,” remarked Hades.

“I was just telling Dagen that, it's been too long,” added Caelus.

Regina, who had successfully achieved her aim, moved away from the men. She sensed that Queen Euphrates wanted her to leave anyway.

“Were you able to do it?” Aurora asked when she saw them leave Regina to move away from Queen Euphrates and the three strange powerful men. She was the one who had suggested that Regina bring up Irvette's healing in the presence of King Caelus.

“I did and it worked like you said.”
